geese howard, yeah that issues was reported on RC2 and when I asked for a feedback to be able to reproduce the issue they said it resolved itself...so it must be something colliding with nLite...try reinstalling nlite from scratch. I just tried to integrate it and it integrates fine. Weird. But you could install the windows without it as well or you actually used the floppy while testing the PNP mode? Or you used that half-integrated driver on top of it all? (that would explain the reboot) My previous motherboard had this controller and all was fine so this is really unexpected. Maybe you installed some new protection software which could have blocked the registry access...let me know if you find the reason.

brokenlove, I don't get it, were you reading what we told you, don't integrate IE7 hotfixes if you don't integrate IE7 or you will get the restarting issue. You say once that exluding those hotfixes didn't help and now that it did...ah. Your last question is valid and it's hard to believe that you got that prompted by the windows update if you don't have IE7...but anyway I'm glad you found your issue.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Well if one wants performance above annoyance reduction then remove all and try it for a day or two and see what you miss. Personally I just keep Aero, Picture viewer and Component cache.

As I said select any from the two INF's in that folder and select ALL controllers once prompted with a list, it won't do any harm and you will be having both AHCI and SATA. You can also just select both ICH7 from the list.

Corrupted registry entries...ever tried rebooting? Those are only temporary, next time reboot or just unload it. Anyway since your OS is somehow bugged and doesn't let nlite to do it's job then don't use it. Try some other MSFN subforum and do it manually. Try to disable the antivirus, remove read-only attributes form the vlite itself and the source folder. (doubfull) Then if you changed the vLite's TEMP folder try to reset it to default then reboot vLite before trying it. (probably) If both fail try the TEMP folder again but with some simple path like C:\Temp Let me know how it goes, I managed to reproduce this issue once by tampering the temp folder setting.

Top should be the oldest.
