  1. Happy Birthday ripken!!!
  2. Yes, you can. It's called "Upgrade Windows Vista" and can be called by right-clicking Computer on the desktop and choosing "Properties".
  3. @grafx1 IMHO stardock for vista is a bit buggy to say the least, stick with the buil-in themes of vista and use Samurize for customization. @neo What you advised grafx1 to do is EXACTLY what he/she did, just the long way around. And maybe he/she doesn`t want to us a pasword.
  4. Could you please be more specific? I mean: vista version, dvd-rw manufacturer and how old it is, have you v-lited the install and what kind of installation did you perform in nero, default or custom? IMHO Nero8 is too bloated, just go for version 6 or customised 7. EDIT: Welcome to THE forum!
  5. Funny thing you mentioned about the hard-drive. I was about to advice you to try the optical drive into a different pc. Once the new hard drive will arrive, please come back here and let us know whether changing it has improved the boot time
  6. The last resort before sending the drive back is a firmware update off the manufacturer site.
  7. You are talking about 2 different things on 2 different devices. The .ini file that stores the configuration will have a different structure and therefore will be useless. You are better off reading the user manuals of both routers to find out the similarities and how you can configure the new one based on the old`s one settings.
  8. Also, make sure the media (the CD itself) hasn`t got any fingerprints, dirt or scratches on it. Maybe cloning it will help...
  9. I would also recommend Comodo, although I don`t run it myself.
  10. Ditto... I`m having nightmares just when thinking about a burnt mobo
  11. Let me put it this way: on my current setup (see my signature) I am playing COD 4 at 1280 x 1024 with everything maxxed out and it doesn`t stutter at all. Now to get back to CS:Source, did you see the recommended settings for it? WAAAAAY lower than COD4. So, as nmX.Memnoch said, you can play it at higher resolutions with high fps. I still recommend the 8800GT.
  12. AFAIK you cannot install the dancers onto XP Professional. But you can see the thread here about converting XP Pro to MCE
  13. Totally agree with you here. Yet the water in Crysis looks pretty much like overflowing from my monitor
  14. I wish TCP/IP was implemented.... I can't play multiplayer at all (Vista doesn't know IPX/SPX).
  15. I remember stumbling across a push-push case on the internet but can't remember tha manufacturer. But as DL said, is it really worth the money?
  16. For 270USD you could get a 8800GT. I replaced the 320 MB GTS with one of these and i must say that it's a tad cheaper and it blows the GTS in games. Playing Crysis in High overall with 4x AA and didn't get any stutters at all Plus you're getting the benefit if DX10 (arguable though...). Anyway, my point is that instead of getting a GTS, get a GT instead. It truly rocks!

    COD4

Still playing single player.... Awesome game!
  18. At this point you might try updating the firmware. Pay extreme ATTENTION when updating the firmware, flushing with a wrong version will render your router useless!! To find an updated version, try google... That`s how i found mine.
  19. As oldwolf said, building your own pc gives you the advantage to know what goes inside. I have already posted in your poll regarding the motherboard (I might be biased though) and if you need anything else to know, just come here and ask. We`re happy to help
  20. Gigabyte all the way (see my signature)
  21. The problem lies with the link between the pc's and the server. How are they connected?
  22. What about Nero Image Drive?
  23. Have you thought about getting a router?
