    My Sig

Don't take it personally, but that teddy bear reminds me of Mr. Bean
  2. Explorer and Internet Explorer are 2 different things. It might be useful to set up your pc to create a full memory dump when Explorer crashes, archive the file and upload it somewhere so we can have a look at it. If you don't know how to configure the pc for a full memory dump, see this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=90244
  3. Hello and welcome to THE forum! I think that you didn't pay enough attention when you installed Windows and you selected your new hard-drive as the install location.
  4. Bingo!
  5. XP doesn't give out IP addresses, you will need Windows 2003 Server or some Linux flavour to have IP addresses allocated by DHCP.
  6. I wish you posted this while you were getting the bluescreens... There is a thread here that explains how to create a full memory dump that we could read and pinpoint the culprit...
  7. First off, welcome to THE forum! Second, the issue you are describing is definitely NOT produced by installing the AHCI drivers. What is the configuration of the pc that crapped out and what errors were you getting? Can you remember any codes? EDIT: At this moment the only thing that pops in my mind regarding your boot issues is devious start-up services / applications.
  8. Yes you can, but in order for this to work properly you will need an OS that knows NAT, Network Address Translation. EDIT: On second thought, doesn't the wi-fi router have some sort of firewall embedded?
  9. I just had a look at your session. There is nothing that would affect the behaviour you described in the first post. Again, I would check the domain security policy.
  10. Just attach it here to your new post. See attachment on how to do it:
  11. Can you post your LastSession.ini file from Nlite? EDIT: Just made it to my 2k'th post! W00t!!! B)
  12. Is this done in a domain environment? If yes, check the domain security policy.
  13. Interesting, but the processing is still upon the CPU...
  14. It appears that Intel didn't write any drivers for this chipset under Vista: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/...b/cs-009082.htm. How is it displayed in Device Manager? Can you make a PrintScreen and post it here?
  15. I'd start by updating the graphic card drivers. Does the stuttering occur when playing offline games too? I mean graphic-intensive games such as Crysis or anything off Tom Clancy's list.
  16. Or TCPView from former Sysinternals, now Microsoft.
  17. Another idea.... Try playing with monitor resolution and refresh rate from the videocard driver (usually right-click on desktop ---> properties [set the resolution] ---> advanced [set the refresh rate]).
  18. Have you tried to update the BIOS? I assume that if you don't have an option for enabling AHCI in BIOS then your mobo doesn't support it.
  19. I'll blame the beer and the tequila from the New Year party, punto http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=109450 EDIT: I was away from home for the New Year party (no pc, no internet) and only got home last night, so I could only post when I arrived home... Info added in the AHCI thread
  20. Welcome to THE forum! This is the place you mught want to keep an eye on:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=8
  21. It would be better if you could explain the network topolgy in use (what OS is the server running and what functions it has, especially if it is set as a DNS server and the IP classes on your LAN).
  22. I'm with jaclaz on this one. 64MB of RAM is too little for XP and even for 2000. You either bump up the RAM as puntoMX suggested or stick to 98.
