How long time PC was without CMOS battery ? Should be at least 20-30 minutes.

Where do you get that from ? Experience ?To the OP. Where does that PC come from ? Was it running fine before (that you're 100% sure of) ?

Of course he could find it out by himself, but that IMHO doesn't make it a weird question that one can't possibly understand why on earth it's asked. The forum is slow enough to not put everybody off.

For an unknown reason your HDD stopped responding, even after (at least 1st) reboot, shifting your 2nd HDD to 1st boot device. From then it is not clear when it came back, but you were able to put it back in 1st place. I'd first backup check the HDD then check it.

That PC will be over 15 years old... If there is any chance they've been touched by something (mice
, or maybe the case has been open), you could try resetting the cables that connect your hard drive and maybe an other (slave) device to the motherboard and to the power supply. Check cables at both ends. If nothing has moved, check (feel) if the disk is spinning. If not, try an other power cable. Good luck.0 -
nLite does not support changing any partitioning/format option. You'll have to check that in the XP "unattended" forum and (I believe) manually edit your Winnt.sif after nLite has produced it and before you build/burn the ISO.

It'd be easier to find the drivers for XP SP3 than to downgrade your install disc. I doubt it can even be done as I guess the SP is "integrated" in a way that previous files are most probably overwritten, not just set aside. In any case, nLite is not the tool you need.

If they could dig a 50km tunnel under the channel in 1988, why not a 200km tunnel today? Just technically speaking, of course. I guess security would have been high in the agenda in 88. Not sure about China. Take the money and run.

I have difficulties understanding the meaning of this sentence. Point 4 in the provided link should have solved your problem.
You could try this is disk space is not a problem;
if problem directory is D:\X\ , rename (if you can, as you said you did take ownership) to D:\_X\
Create new directory D:\X\ ,
Copy (not move) everything from D:\_X\ to D:\X\.
Check if problem is solved on new files. Delete old files if it is.

You say you "moved" the files, this is the problem. Moved files keep original rights, copied files get new rights from the folder they are copied into.
I've also reset permissions on everything but it still does the same permission denied thing.I don't know what exactly you've done there but you now need to "take ownership" of the fies that were previously protected for "any other user" only. I guess the USB drive is NTFS formated.

Tall Emu Online Armor has been bought by Emisoft. There is still a "free" version.
"By default Emsisoft Online Armor installs as a free fully functional 30 day trial version. After the trial period you can either choose to buy a full version license or switch to the limited freeware mode. Of course you can decide to upgrade again at any time by simply renewing your license."
I haven't yet tried it, I still have an old version from Tall Emu running (also with limited functionalities).

I remember people having a similar problem (reboot loop) when integrating WMP updates without integrating the actual WMP. I never integrate WMP nor updates for it.

So, is it ? Take your keyboard with both hands (PC turned off) and hold it vertically. Tap it gently few times on your desk. Watch all the crums, hair, dust fall down. Then if you can, hold it upside down with one hand and tap all keys with the back of your other hand. Check if any key is behaving differently. Retest.

Deactivating the antivirus might improve speed as well. All in all, 24Gig an hour is not that bad anyway. It might also depend on the type of data (small files vs. big files).

Make sure drive caching is enabled (optimized for better performance, not for quick removal, can't remember where that is in XP), it should go faster than those 7M/s.
