  1. I agree, just a mite ridiculous.

Noting there is NO "Administrator" (the folder), only "gr" and "ross", one must assume the Administrator Account was deleted by either User "gr" or "ross", one of which would HAVE to be in the Administrators Group to do this and while under the Safe Mode for it to be accessed for deletion -OR- the Folder was manually deleted (woops!) -OR- (while logged on as an Administrator) the Folder was literally RENAMED to either "gr" or "ross".

-OR-... he simply never logged on a "administrator".

  2. An other question is why does it happen only to you ? It's hard to tell who's spent more time in front of more computers than someone else, surely most people her are far above the average people in the street, well, I've never seen a flashing windows about Flash. Then again the big majority of PC's I've been caring for or working on were turned off at night (or like servers, don't have Flash). Are your 25 hours supposed to be continuous for the flash to show ?

  3. I don't have much experience with Repair installs. Did you really choose "Repair" from the Textmode setup part or did you just install over the former XP, without format ? I see you choosen "Unattended", maybe the computer name got changed and that would render former logins unavailable ? I don't know. Personnaly, I'd try one of those Linux CD that allow you to clear passwords... but It's on the edge of what can be discussed here and I won't tell more about that.

  4. Regards the key. I do have original XP pro disk and serial, SP1 so do not think it would be that. But it is always possible that I have used a dodgy one.

Why would you use a dodgy key if you have a valid one ? Is it a legit one ?

I don't think your problem comes from your downloads but from the way or the order in which you do things.

  5. Just when you think it is all going well.

    I used

http://xdot.tk/updates.html and included all the files it downloaded., but back to same problem I had yesterday. nLite starts integrating dotnet4..and then the dotnet4 installation runs rather than integrating..and it shuts down and re boots the computer. guessing .net4 can't be integrated?

the updates from xdot are made to be ran on a machine or to be integrated in a cd, both actions are done by running them (with or xwithout swith). that .net' that you get from Windows update is not made to be integrated, it's only made to be ran and install .net4 on your machine, and that's what it does when nLite runs it. Integrate only xdots files and specially made addons, not "anything from Windows Update".

  6. Two post your last session.ini files (Remove your serial )

this whole section here having NO entries will cause some issues

... "someone" asked him to edit the file before posting it.

@ gius52, is that "gr" on the 3rd screenshot the name of an account from your former XP ? If not, can you list the folders in "C:\Documents and Settings"?

  7. any user account is always the same thing; if I don't write the password the system doesn't start.

What do you mean by that ? What "password" do you "write" ? What happens then, as opposite to "doesn't start" ? Please be more precise about what really happens.

    So for a 3rd time,..

state for what user the password is prompted

or are you prompted for a Username as well (was the username box empty at first?) or do you have a "Welcome Screen" with users too choose from ?

And what was the reason to reinstall at first ?

  8. So what if you try with your

state for what user the password is prompted

Now we know that it was a repair install, the answer to this question would have been welcome. Have you tried with your former user account and no password?

  9. the program asks me the password, but I had no password to login xp.

So now I can't have access to my old xp!

This tweak that you choosed to activate may be the cause (I don't speak italian) "Avvio & Arresto-Ctrl-Alt-Canc all'avvio-Abilita"

so what happens if you just put "administrator" and no password ?

Also what do you mean by "access to your old XP" ? Is it an install you done or a repair ? Or an install without format and you're talking about your documents ?

  10. Two post your last session.ini files (Remove your serial and we can help you)

Also state for what user the password is prompted and what installation disk you used to make your nLite disk.

  11. There are usually 2 ways of doing that; through a control panel provided by the the drivers (that you installed) or using "hotkeys", sort of additional function keys that are activated by a program (that you could probably find on Toshiba's website, ...but I can't find it).

  12. Question is at the end. I've done this (booting from VHD) using the "Sysprepped" Win VHD" created by this application. This is booting a Win7 VHD from from a Win7 machine. It worked fine. Now I'm trying the next step with the linked updated application that creates a similar (sysprepped) Win8.1 VHD. I tried to boot it the same way but about a minute after loading, it says that it "can't repair that version of Windows". I don't know if the message comes from the booted VHD or from my actual Win7 machine.

I see this guy saying he boots a Win8 VHD in Win7 "without messing up with the Win7'... so I thought why does mine not work ? Am I right thinking he did, by installing Win8 to a VHD on the machine, change the bootloader from Win7 to Win8, and this is not undone later at the end of his article? But my "ready made" Win8 VHD will not boot because Win7 doesn't boot Win8 (like in classic dual boot, the later OS has to be installed on top of the earlieer one). That was the question. Am I right in my diagnostic ?

Side note; there is no way I've made an error in the BCD as I just switched the names of the files, (((I think it's a pretty cool trick, I have a 0kb file with the actual file name of the OS/vhd that I swap name with "the VHD" that's declared in the BCD, then I do the same with the next vhd file))).

  13. I opened it [...] it seems like there actually are two fans

Well if it's open... can you see them both?

They can't place a fan in the middle of a laptop like you place one in the middle of a desktop. There is no air circulation, only the heat flow in the designed channel. The heat pipe goes from the CPU to the "external" FAN, passing through the Graphic card heat sink. Maybe the graphic card becomes hot to the point you can feel it but never "too hot", and so at this moment the fan only kicks in when the CPU needs it. Reading the temps would let you know if sensors are working properly.

  14. Here's a video that (hopefully) shows the inside of the said laptop. The OP knowing (or saying he knows) where the graphic card is, we can assume he already opened the machine. Also bphlpt does say it's a laptop, so he knows.

That being said, if it's the the graphic card getting hot, I don't see the need for replacing the thermal compound of the CPU, that might even worthen things. Dusting the fan's grid will help.

You could get the temperatures and fan speeds with softwares like HWinfo.
