  1. It doesn't actually erase every bit/byte on the partition if that's you question. But files that were present before will be gone after (and definitely erased if physically overwritten).
  2. So one more question... -when you disable Administrator, the system creates Propriétaire for you to log on. -when you rename Administrator in Propriétaire and disable it, does any other account get created ? What account starts the 1st session ? Do you now run OOBE ?
  3. Hello, There are known problems when people put their drivers on the desktop and integrate them from there, which is what you do. Try putting them in an other folder like C:\drivers\ or so.
  4. Don't know what you've done for tests, but "Administrator" and "Owner/(Propriétaire)" are 2 separate accounts, that's why they have different names . The 1nd one is built in, the 2nd is created at end of install because you disabled the 1st one and XP needs an account for you to be able to start a 1st session. I was just trying to help but it seems you don't need anyone.
  5. The guess will be mainly based on the processor which is ~4 years old. 2GB RAM and the HDDs make it a bit more interresting indeed.
  6. Ask him for the original. If you don't know him or if he doesn't have one,... it's probably warez.
  7. "Propriétaire" is "owner", it is not "administrateur" nor "administrator". That is the account that is created aside "administrator" to be used as normal account (with administrator's rights). I'm not sure it's a bug or a feature, but XP Home unattended always creates that account, (or maybe only when you skip OOBE), even if nLite tells you that you HAVE to create an account, even if you do it, you'll always get one more account named "owner" (or "propriétaire" here). There are other threads about that.
  8. Hello Atolica. Glad you edited your other thread. I'd be surprised MS docs says anything about disabling the administrator's account. There has to be an account to login at first, if not autologing. It is not very clear what you've done (added an other one ?). Anyway, you can check the last lines of your last_session_u.ini to see all accounts (inbuilt and added if any). 1st Yes/No is active/inactive next Yes/No(s) are - Blank password - Must have - Can change, as displaye on the nLite Unattended screen. (+ You're not supposed to nLite (=break) your friend's XP).
  9. ...old thread.
  10. Who configured the router at first ? Can you not reset it ? Are there no restriction on the MAC adress ?
  11. Last but not least, nLite is for personal use only.

I don't know where you've seen that but I'm sure that few years ago, it had no support for MCE. Then -maybe- things changed but also the development of nLite was stopped and nothing got updated (FAQs, known bugs list and such). MCE remained a bit of a grey area. But the forum helps and the program is still free.
  13. There's your answer in case you misssed it. As for imaging softwares, there is a whole list of them in the "stickies" in the software forum. ->image one of your computers to your new drive -sysprep it, turn it off. -make a new image of that that you keep somewhere else as backup for later cases. -put your drive in the new pc, start it, it reinstalls Windows (mini-setup).
  14. On that screen, the "Local Group" is first greyed out because user "Administrator" is highlighted. As soon as I click "Add" to add a new user, a new entry is created ("new user") and the choice becomes available for other groups for that user. I don't know if it's diferent for you. What I say is, if you reprocess that set of files with nLite again later, things will go wrong with that "new user" and others.
  15. 1st, please edit your 1st post asap to remove your license key from the 2nd attached file. 2nd I don't see any user created, so I don't know what users you are talking about ? Note that nLite does not deal with previously artificially added users (only with standard MS XP inbuilt users), this is a known -bug- so you absolutely need to begin with a fresh set of files and add you own users with correct rights set (if this is what we are talking about).
  16. HP is probably using an imaging system. Why do you need to locate those files? What are you trying to do? Does the recovery procedure fail ? Which one are you trying (disk or recovery partition)? Are you trying to make your own disk ?
  17. Hello, that part of Windows Setup is called "Out Of the Box Experience" ("OOBE") and to skip that, you need to tick a box that says so on the Unattended screen. I think XP Pro allows skipping OOBE without having alternate administrative user (I see you have not entered any user name in the last lines of the _u file). fyi, XP Home doesn't. As for the resolution, tt's not set in your Unattended part either. Remember to start with a fresh source and load the ini file to go on instead of reusing your current set of resulting file. Unattended doesn't like that at all.
  18. You'll probably need to run nLite 4 times (not sure it likes MCE) then pack them 4 sets of files on the CD.
  19. Certainly a fan. By opening the computer, you can find out wetherer it's the CPU fan or one inside the PSU. Usually there is not much to do beside cleaning it when you can see the dust. Most the time it's inside on the axe and the noise doesn't go away. When running, components get hot and the shape of parts can change slightly enough to change the noise they make.
  20. fyi; idem in this thread.
  21. You can check this thread from few weeks ago.
  22. Probably because there is one already ?
