XtremeMaC replied to ahmedramzi's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
have you tried unistalling it? I also dled the mac os 2 when I uninstalled it my system got messed up. Explorer.exe was not found some dll were not registered. I spent 30min getting my files back and registering them! I could use the recovery console but I thought it might take longer and yes there are bunch of files in the directory experience-xp mentioned -

there are many services you can disable according to which ones you need.if you're using dhcp you won't disable so here are some that u can disable alerter application layer gateway service application management automatic updates background intelligent transfer service clipbook (but u may need this if you're copying files from other network resoruces) com + event system com + system application computer browser ( I don't use this I know the computers path which I want to connect) distributed link tracing client (for shortcuts not neccessary) distributed transaction coordinatior error reporting service fast user switch help and support human interface device acces imapi cd-burning indexing service! infrared monitor internet connection firewal//sharing (may or maynot) ipsec services ipv6 internet connection firewall (i doubt its even working) machine debug manager (I hate it) messenger netmeeting remote desktop sharing nvidia hlep service portable media serial number QoS rsvp (I don't need this) all remote acces and desktop and procedure I've them on manual except you cannot change RPC routing and remote access disabled secondary logon smart card smart card helper ssdp discovery service task scheduler (I don't really use it) tcp/ip netbios helper (is doesn't help) terminal services (I don't have any use of it) upload manager (you can still upload when u disable this) webclient wireless zero configuration windows time themes Others i either keep on manual or automatic I've like 15 services running I could decrease it If i didn't connect to internet Okay some of this you may need to try you might not try if you know what they are and if you have any programs using these also checkout their dependencies and checkout http://www.blkviper.com/

also internet explorer temp files, temp files, system restore files get your hdd very fragmented so what I do is I decreased the ie temp files to 10mb and ie temps gets deleted when I close the browser and I've made a batch file which deletes the temp files at every boot/ login also recycle bin's space reserved tends to be slack space so you could decrease it. best you could do is classic themes and set the settings to performance instead of visual tweaking registry won't help too much but disabling services and startup program will help a lot also some programs like .net have way over too many files integrated in the registry you might want to install less programs and defrag your hdd often also defrag your registry and search for unneccesary and invalid entries

swift how many progarams do you have in your start-up? if you have too many it's probably causing the delay. also you can disable some services. and you can defrag your hdd!!! put the .exe & .dll's at the beginning of the hdd
