  1. At0mic, let me assume a few things: 1) you have a cable internet provider 2) you wish to have both public IPs accessible from the internet For the sake of demonstration i will assume that your static addresses are 81.92.223.101 and 81.92.223.102 Given these things i would set the equipment up as follows: Netgear DG834G NAT OFF Firewall OFF WAN interface = DHCP ON LAN Interface = 81.92.223.101 Netgear FVS318 SUA NAT ON Firewall ON LAN interface = DHCP ON (if you wish) WAN Interface = 81.92.223.102 If that doesnt work then swap the 2 external IPs around and see what happens. Let me know how this goes
  2. You won't be running VM's and playing games at the same time, unless that game is Spider Solitaire. I understand what your saying but thats not entirely true. I very often leave VMs running and play a game of insurgency without a hiccup. Having said that though, the VMs were idle at the time. If they were doing stuff then it may be very different
  3. Yeah i think a service or somthing is not getting chance to initialize, try booting up and logging on as quick as possible see if you can replicate the problem. This problem is so annoying and i cant remember for the life of me how i have fixed it in the past BTW does the event viewer log anything worth paying attention to?
  4. Does it happen in safe mode? And what happens if you leave a pc at the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen for 5 minutes before logging on? Thanks
  5. who is your provider and what is the modem you have? Thanks
  6. Yeah i have seen this. Were the workstations cloned? If so did you run something like newsid.exe on them after cloning? Thanks
  7. The Hardware will be different and boot start drivers marked for Load simply will not. NTDetect will fail and the result will be a pretty blusecreen One thing you can do is run a repair of windows to redetect the HAL and get it going but ONLY if you are legally able to do so under the license you have. Thanks
  8. My Amiga 1200 had 2MB of RAM...... God it was awesome..........
  9. LOL, point taken Crahak. Eskimo.... Cap us some packets with wireshark if you would be so kind
  10. try browsing to http://66.249.81.99 on that pc and see what happens, Then we can be certain that DNS is the problem here. Also check the hosts file to see if there are any static entries, it seems unlikely since all sites are resolving to 1.0.0.0 but its worth a look.
  11. So that i can better understand why, what is the website you wish to do this on?
  12. Lol when i voted it was 50/50 (and yes i voted vista )
  13. Interesting read, keep up the good work!
  14. i think you need to confure NTVDM.exe to run in a seperate memory space. Right click the application and there is the option in there to run in a seperate memory space. That should solve it
  15. Tell us what error message you have and we can help you. Driver will not install could be a number of problems! Thanks
  16. 3G may be a decent alternative to satellite for you. Iv only ever set it up, never used it or seen what it costs but it might be worth a look
  17. Does it happen in safe mode? (I assume it will but its worth a shot)
  18. For what its worth i have 2 Samsung 1TB Spinpoints in a Raid 1 on an ICH8R controller and they are so much faster than my last Boot Volume which was RAID 0 config on 2 X 40GB Maxtors again on ICH8R. I would agree with Crahak that ultimately it comes down to what you do with your pc, but i seriously doubt there are many Consumer level drives, even raptors that are faster than these things!
  19. go into device manager and get the hardware ID String and paste it here. It should look like VEN_XXX&DEV_XXX. Once you have done that myself or someone else should be able to find the driver for you
  20. yeah its huge and i havent read the lot either .....BUT you see my point, i was dubious at first especially since the first couple of Beta releases were nothing but a pain in the arse! However after the RTM and reading a lot of that book my view has changed entirely and i can see that everything was done with a **** good reason.
  21. Crahak, your presence lately on msfn has been great You are obviously a really knowlegable person and just reading through this thread has been an insight into that knowlege. As for the people who "Bash Vista".....shame on you, pickup the Windows Vista Resource Kit book and read it cover to cover, it will COMPLETELY change the way you think about vista Cheers
  22. It is neither client side nor server side it is on the firewall you have, you must have at least port 1723 forwarded to the VPN server (port 1723 is PPTP). You should also have a seperate port forwarding rule to point the GRE protocol to the VPN server too
  23. Are you using PPTP VPN here? if so make sure that the GRE protocol is forwarded correctly as far as i know GRE is the tunnel that PPTP uses and needs to be forwarded too Cheers
  24. do u mean you load the drivers with the F6 prompt but it still sees the 2 drives?
  25. Ah i see what you mean now. His boss could VPN in first then RDP to his desktop or any desktop he wishes Yeah thats a good idea. Cheers
