I was surfing my Win98SE disk and i came across a few programs i didn't know existed. I been playing around with this microsoft chat all day.its kind of cool. I would like you guys input on if i should keep it or not.

@ Eidenk you should not use no unofficial patches/Service Packs if you feel the way you feel. You blackballing getting topics closed for nothing you to old for that won't you stop it. Apparently M$ don't care if they ended support. So why should you.

I agree a 100% the whole objective is to rebel Win98SE like the renegade it is. I have WinXP on a few machines but i love Win98SE with a passion. I will keep manipulating software until i'm able to be satisfied to the point I will format my WinXP machines and install Win98SE on all of them.

Option 3 still doesn't un-install Movie Maker shortcut is still there. also It should be C:\Programs Files\Movie Maker I think the appropriate shortcut will be good in the entertainment folder with WMP as the default location. Also heres a icon for MM below WinXP shell32.dll Icon 1284,1033 in Resource Hacker its pretty cool for systray thanks for the bat file above. Also heres a new Dunzip32.dll file version 5.0.0.5

Same results with Active Desktop enable/disable my resources had drop System 91%-29% User 91%-29% once my resources recovered everything went well just a small hang. Also i'm using BROWSELC.DLL 6.0.2900.2180 from 98SE2XP and the same problem above occurs.Since these files doesn't break anything (To My Knowledge) i recommend keeping them. FYI i have all the latest un/officials patches installed. And yes my system is tweaked also.

Explorer hangs after deletion but it recovers without a crash.These files work better than the orginal because the original files crashed explorer. My theory is that deleting large files eat resources fix the resource problem and we might have a solution.

logagent.exe from WinME is newer than the one in the Windows Media Player folder.

wrong. totally the opposite. CRYPT9X.EXE should make Windows Update site work properly again after installing unofficial Win98se SP 1.62. version 1.62 of the 98se SP is what caused Windows Update not to work and was fixed in version 2.1a. and you MUST also install the latest version of ROOTSUPD.EXE to resolve the Windows Update error of "expiring certificates" as noted in this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=81676 Sorry to tell you but its the other way around for me.Soon as i install CRYPT9X.EXE Windows Update breaks.

Anyone know why CRYPT9X.EXE causes Windows Updates not to work?

1.Can you change the Systray.exe icon to anything else. 2.Can you replace the files you have backed up that you said was not necessary to restore Example-options 5,6,7 and other files that maybe backed up no need to backup/restore if such files are obselete/buggy 3.Don't forget about sigverif.exe/winpopup.exe 4.If you un-install option 3 their is a folder left in My Network Place/Network Neighborhood that can not be removed at all 5. if you can find somebody to create a small patch with the code i gave you you can extract the original files for Windows Movie Maker from WinMe CD which will allow you to add it back to option 1 & 2. Also it will decrease the size of 98SE2ME.So the only file you would need is MOVIEMK 1.0.1377.0 from Q287564 6.Is their some type of code/trick/hack that you can add to 98SE2ME that will install just the update ONLY if you already have a previous version INSTALLED. But it would still install the full version if not a previous version found. I'm trying to cut down space and time so please bare with me. just a few suggestions hope you consider

If you anything like me i will download them all incase you need them in the future.I have updates on my cdr that i don't even used but when ever i need it its there.Also a CD-RW would be better incase you gotta make adjustments.

would it be better to use File Manager from Windows NT 4.0 SP6a since it has support already for LFNs
