98SE2ME = Killer Replacements: ME -> 98 SE
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Important IE6 SP1 has these files with older versions but with newer dates Systemagent.exe Mapistub.dll cool.dll imagehelp.dll comcat.dll advapi32.dll sage.vxd and you might wanna replace Internat.exe with the WinMe version since its newer by version and date This is why a version detection tool would come in handy. -

Like i said before WMI/WBEM is aimed at network users.If you don't have a network then it becomes bloat/obselete.IT IS NOT A RESOURCE HOG.I have a network and this is a handy tool for it.Just because someone doesn't have a network doesn't mean this package should be overlooked.what about the people who do have a network. Then we suffer because of discrimination.All i'm asking is help me test the files. once the files have been tested you can uninstall/delete whatever you choose.
-
i myself am a network user if WMI/WBEM allows me to access my computer from a another computer then thats cool cause that is something i need.I know there are 3rd party apps but if you seen my computer i have very few 3rd party apps installed.maybe 6 at the most. What i'm trying to do now is test the files from WinME to see if it enhances stability etc... But I'm not a very good tester.I don't know how to check for bugs/RunOnce that type of stuff so if someone out there that has a network like me can you help me test the files. Also take note it is not a resource hog. Maybe we can get a Unofficial WMI/WBEM with all newer files version updated if possible. heres more info http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc/wmi.htm#Insta...%20Windows%209x

Advantages and disadvantages of 98SE an WinME ?
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to DJDan's topic in Windows 9x/ME
you can always install Win98SE with all updates & patches then tryout 98SE2ME for speed and stability.Then the Kernel Update Project. Important All of the programs are undergoing testing so its not 100% for sure if its gonna cause problems or not.Also these guys here has put together more tweaks and stability than M$ itself.You have more to gain and very lil to lose -
98SE2ME = Killer Replacements: ME -> 98 SE
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
This week I reinstalled Windows. After installing 98SE2ME, the problem was back. This time I investigated the problem. It's not related to network, but to windows disk cache. When I copy files from network (shared on Windows XP, one switch between computers) tranfer rate drops when the disk cache is full. See the atached images: First image = Disk cache set to 512MB - network tranfer and disk write speed drops Second image = Disk cache set to 64MB - network transfer and disk write speed remains high Replacing VCACHE.VXD v4.90.3000 with default Win98 version solved the problem. It does work well thanks.I didn't realize at first cause most of my Win98SE computers are tweaked exactly the same but i did notice the difference. -

98SE2ME = Killer Replacements: ME -> 98 SE
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Its the New Gdi.exe & Gdi32.dll 4.10.2227 causing trouble. Before i installed it everything was working fine.After installation I wasn't able to install 98SE2ME at all. Even after i replace it with the original files things are still broken.Power Management/98SE2ME can't install it.It seems like the newer they get the worse they are.I will be using my older version 98SE2ME 4-20-06 where Power management and everything else works. Keep up the good work though. And i always test Unofficial patches on a clean install. -

All lite software for Win98/SE/ME
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to PROBLEMCHYLD's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
I understand where you coming from erpdude8 but it still would be good to have a lite version and if people choose to use the roxio plug-ins/skins etc... they can always install the full version. Aint no harm in that. I'm just sayin everything thats installed on my Win98SE computer i use if i didn't i wouldn't install it. I hate having to delete something when it should not have been there in the 1st place.Its extra hassle for me.So i thought a lite pack with avoid this. Every1 is different and how they want they system setup.Not trying to stress any1 just some suggestions and insight that i thought others who think like me would enjoy. Every MB is Accounted for on my Machine. ? Is the Roxio software included inWMP9 out dated? Is there a newer version?If it is a newer version the one thats installed with WMP9 maybe obselete depending on the individual But i need for certain files like asx,wmv because even MPC doesn't support these formats even with the right codecs installed -
