  1. I hope the KernelEX users has more files to post. Once I add this option its close curtains.
  2. I decided not to add MDAC 2.8 SP1. I see no purpose for it.
  3. I finally created an inf so it can be added to the Service Pack. We are so close to the end. Heres a link so you guys can see what WMI/WBEM is all about. http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc/wmi.htm
  4. This solution did not work at all for either versions of IE.
  5. I figured out why the service pack was breaking Internet Explorer. I wasn't suppose to register the .DLL files. I did some extreme testing to find this out. I did about 5 formats and clean installs. I also found that if you use 98lite to rip out IE you can still browse the internet using explorer address bar. I tested both set of files and the IE 5.5 SP2 files are super stable. IE 6 SP1 files did ok. I highly recommend 98lite users to use IE 5.5 SP2 files.
  6. Feb 20, 2012 06:28:41 PM That would be a great name for it.
  7. I have added the Spanish version to the main website. I will send you PM messages on new releases so you can be prepared.
  8. Its probably the best solution. Its a headache to have to download a hundred small packagesthan to just have on big package. Thats what I have done with Win98 SP3. Its at 52mb, which is not bad compared to some other packs.
  9. From the way things look, I probably won't be adding it.
  10. NOTEPAD.EXE 5.1.2600.5512 I already added it to the list.
  11. Thank you very much. I agree the Service Pack has grown quite a bit.The files that increases the size are the Internet Explorer files + True Type Fonts, which makes up approximately 15-20mb. The aim we are striving for is to have the smallest with an big impact. Remember lots of file sizes change over time. I agree it can be somewhat confusing with FINAL in the title, so I had it removed. There has been many unofficial updates from mdgx's site since 98SE USP 2.1 and about 90% is included in the Service Pack. I want overall convenience so everyone can benefit. The pack that has it all (necessities). I know constructive feedback when I see it. KernelEx will definitely be the last option that will be added. Then it will be final.
  12. @ RetroWish Great feedback! You have to understand a few things. It is time consuming to update files included in the Service Pack especially when some updates I release might only be a bugfix etc... You also have to understand it will take more time to change the text in all the files to read 98 SE SP 3.0, 98 SE SP 3.1, 98 SE SP 3.2 etc... than to just leave it at 3.0. This also means bitmaps/hexing/hacking files to read the new update. What I could do is ask dencorso to remove final from the title so it won't be misleading. I also use the date in my signature to notify users of an new update. I will leave it at 3.0 but when the final update is release, I will make sure I add final to all text and files. Thanks
  13. You guys are aware his book has an Second Edition.
  14. I have reuploaded the SP with SEGOEUI.TTF Windows Live Messenger SEGOEUIB.TTF Windows Live Messenger SEGOEUII.TTF Windows Live Messenger SEGOEUIZ.TTF Windows Live Messenger Thanks
  15. Thanks for explaining it a little better. As I said earlier, sometimes my comprehension is off. I hope I didn't offend anyone. If so please forgive me. Thanks.
  16. I usually remove this option using 98lite. I have no software that requires the package. I was wondering should I add it to the Service Pack? I want to add it for completeness sake. If it is not mandatory to have it, then once I add the KernelEX option the Service Pack will be finished.
  17. Updated
  18. Maybe I misunderstood you or vice versa. I posted what he sent me via email. I wasn't trying to be an a** about things. Sometimes my comprehension is off. From: "PROBLEMCHYLD" <> > Do you think its possible to update WDMSTUB.SYS with the missing exports, > and convert it to WDMSTUB.VXD. There is no point to having a VxD -- WDMSTUB was designed for the single purpose of allowing WDM drivers to work across platforms, and it has to be a .sys file to perform that function. Anyhow, the source code for WDMSTUB came with the book. That means you can use the code as a base to build something of your own with a different name. -- Walter Oney, Esq. 267 Pearl Hill Road Fitchburg, MA 01420 Tel.: 978-343-3390 http://www.oneylaw.com
  19. No because he contacted me by email. Its personal and I will not share my emails on the internet. (You are more than welcome to hack it though).I have better things to do then to lie about what people have sent me via email. If my word is not Good, then all I do is a lie. And I'm not a liar. And besides, how would I know the source code is offered with the book if I don't own it.
  20. What I mean is to use the original Win98SE icons, but to create a patch script to patch the Win98SE icons to look like the WinME/Win2000 icons.
  21. Thats because your not using Windows98 SE SP 3.0 BETA 4. The version before I started updating.
  22. I contacted Walter Oney about updating WDMSTUB.SYS and he says, it has to be an .SYS instead of .VXD for universal purposes. He also said the source code is included in his book which I don't mind buying but I don't know how to program. He also said if one was to update WDMSTUB.SYS to change the name to avoid confusion.
  23. SEGOEUI.TTFSEGOEUIB.TTF SEGOEUII.TTF SEGOEUIZ.TTF All files or only SEGOEUI.TTF?
  24. PROBLEMCHYLD, OK, here's some feedback. With respect to the USB drivers, I don't know what's what here. What it is that you're suggesting people do, and which needs to be done only once? This thread is somewhat, umm, convoluted. Just to make sure: so I could install the SP3 and it would not automatically affect my existing USB drivers? Thanks! --JorgeA P.S. Is there a way to create a wiki here, so that the most up-to-date information (and ONLY the most up-to-date information) shows? The key word is Remove!
  25. I will be releasing a new update today. I have to let you guys about the WinME icons. I removed all patching resources because they did not patch the icons. What Gape did was he patched the actual SHELL32.DLL icon. That means when you install the SP you automatically get the WinME look. The only way to avoid this, is for someone to create a script to patch the original Win98 icons with resource hacker. I don't know how. In the mean time if you are a SP3 user you will have to deal with the WinME look until I can accommodate everyone. Sorry.
