Unattended WinXP Installation loses Repair option
Alanoll replied to ITinerant's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
one workaround till you a better solution is found..... do a mock multiboot.... one with the winnt.sif file, one without on the same disk....... -
Some windows components not removed?
Alanoll replied to wolfshade's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
oh I'm sure he knows where the page is.... nuhi.msfnhosting.com -
if the CD is truly bootable, then you have to configure your Dell to actually boot to the CDROM. Most are set to check floppy and then boot hdd.
-
obviously you didn't read THIS site on how to disable WFP. as for winnt.sif.....you don't add it to it. You add a command in GUIRunOnce to call the registry file to import it. After this, I dunno if I should help you before you prove that you ahve searched. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/wfp.htm

i thought Dreamweaver MX uses Installshield not Windows Installer.....

Unattended WinXP Installation loses Repair option
Alanoll replied to ITinerant's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
use a normal disc. You obviously have one. An unattended disc loses the ability for Repair. It's the winnt.sif file. You may be able to change the type fro FullUnattend to DefaultHide but I'm not sure..... also, the prefered method is Unattended disc with slipstreams hotfixes WITHOUT using AutoPatcher (atleast me, and anyone who uses XPCREATE, or wants to learn how to do it themselves without relying on others) -
yes, but 7mb still doesn't seem right....+ this one is specific to XP http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=16529

i was talking about the "definitions" that MBSA downloads to see if there are any updates for patches. Not the MBSA itself. The signatures were updated.

i don't think 7 mb is right.... did you use the right Office Shrink (there are two)? and do you have a supported language? EDIT:: Nevermind, looks like he combined the ALONG time ago.....tells you I never used it

The ATI/Half-Life 2 deal is dead, right?
Alanoll replied to Professor Frink's topic in Gamers Hangout
i dunno..... I got it when I bought a 9600 SE..... -
ummm.... there is no SP2 final release for XP. NONE. there is RC1 for download from Microsoft, and they are supposed to be releasing RC2 to testers soon....but there is NO final yet. Lets not forget the thread at the top of the forum... "Windows XP SP2 Bug reports" I bet he is using a pirate copy of windows.....
-
i dunno if ICQ has a switch specifically like that... most people use either pskill.exe or taskkill.exe pskill is from systernals, and taskkill comes with XP Pro. pskill.exe icq.exe taskkill /f icq.exe both do the same thing, kills icq.exe

hehe, everyoen wants THAT MSI and not the 5.0. I'll go dig through my CDs when I get home....I'm sure it's on one of them hopefully (I made it). As for making it smaller, use OfficeShrink for Office and nLite for Windows. You'll probally only need OfficeShrink. It's in the sticky thread.....

I rename the Admin and use it
Alanoll replied to wolfshade's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
to delete the Admin account, you rename and delete like any other account. I've never had to go into Recover Console. My Unattended CD is my recovery console There is a reason why in Windows 2003 its REQUIRED that you enter an Admin password. XP you can just leave it blank. Always put a password even if you don't use it. as for Default User, Admin is create from Default User, not the other way around. -
The ATI/Half-Life 2 deal is dead, right?

there are missing files in the CDROOT, or the files just aren't there. WIN51 WIN51IP ( or IC if you have Home) WIN51IP.SP1 ( or IC if you have Home) SETUP.EXE README.HTM Please search.

I would say that is definately against the rules. Your first post was "Mazin pls help" with this same problem. I'm going to delete the other one..... pls don't do it again, if you want to contact someone directly, use the PM, not the boards. I merged both offending threads that were in the Unattended forum, and deleted teh one that was in teh Application Switches forum, all 3 having to do with this very same thing. Very against teh rules..... when are you trying to install this? Just because it's RunOnceEX does not mean it's not during setup

@DarkPheonix But then again, it is a friend's site, and she isn't really looking for it to be cross browser, as everyone who does go there are her friends, and have IE and they've never heard of other browsers.....it's really sad..... @hotmale I understand.... I personally am someone who likes graphically appealing sites. Not covered in it, but I usually make my sites with graphics. Not just plain text. It's just my personal preference. But for teh type of sit eyou're going for, i think it's quite good design. Simplistic and to the point.

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...9618&hl=Newsbin seems the typical /S doesn't work, even though it's a nullsoft installer. You could ask in their forums for the switch, or asked the person in the above thread how he did it.....

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1
Alanoll replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
it's some command that directx executes upon logon that registers the DLLs and replacing the new ones..... I checked after the hotfix applied, the files were correct, but upon log on they were back to the old files. As a side note, it truly is something with the install routine of the OPK because if you slipstreamed DX9 using jdoebeck's batch file, you can apply the hotfix just fien.... -
there is no permament, as any variables create without the SET in Autoexec.bat (which is just a workaruond) have to be assigned each time the computer restarts. and as for the method on the multiboot guide, CDROM is never declared.... some people have used the IF EXIST type thing, which is sort of what findcd.exe does.
-
i do believe the HP zt5000z laptop has the AMD Athlon 64 option.....3000+ i believe.....
-
@my2001 this has nothing to do with uxtheme.dll. It deals with ntoskrnl.exe and there is definately going to be another one, but most people are going to recreate their disk anyways when it comes out....
-
i plan to include a section with and without findcd.exe if you look farther down on your second page, it tells you have to modify findcd.exe to find something else. Point it to Win51 or something.

if you used Booteditor (the program I believe mentiond in the sticky thread) be sure you transfer the pallette as well.... If you use RESHACK, you HAVE to use the native pallete unless you want to go hexing..... Also be sure you're replacing the correct bitmap.... If you want, post a link to your picture, and I can make a kernel for you, or if I find time, make a step by step tutorial.....(I'm working on the Multiboot one at the moment, as well as rebuilding my disc from scratch.....or then updating the multiboot dvd......and then debugging the new directx patch.....and hopefully SP2 doesn't magically appear in this schedule....)
