yes...... BUT as this is the XPCREATE forum, we're trying to get it to work FROM SVCPACK.INF as describe in the Microsoft docs. Not just trying to get it work, we already knew that way. It's the hard way we want to figure out. Thanks anyway.

umm..... did you truly download SP2? I download it, and there weren't any Critical things to apply, jsut the Recommended.... try download the network install of SP2 from the Microsoft website, there are links on the front page. Slipstream that into your XP source and it might work then.

unattended install + nLite + LiteXP ?
Alanoll replied to sub0's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
LiteXP? Do you mean XPLite? It is possible if you are refering to XPLite. However, nLite removes the components from the source, where as XPLite removes them from the current install. nLite ISO is NOT an Unattended ISO. nLite ISO is Windows XP with components removed from the setup files themselves. Unattended ISO, is better explained on the site, but basically its Windows Setup that is automated or semi-automated so you don't have to keep entering the info setup requires you to do. http://unattended.msfn.org -
most likely not...unless you figure out a way.

driver installing($oem$) fail by winnt.exe
Alanoll replied to kennh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
actually.... if you were smart and you did what you say here.... use CDIMAGE with the -o option, and it will only write the duplicate files once to the ISO, but it will appear in both places. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/finish.htm Also, OEMPath doesn't really work to tell it where $OEM$ is....so I suggest you forget that. -
noooo the ISO you're ending with. What in the world are you starting with? Hotfixes don't add that much, so you're adding something.

@[bM]Crusher This software is discontinued, and currently being kept alive by the few people who have discovered it from grave in the last few days.

the biggest problem with this update, is the fact that the DX9 OPK routine overwrites the updated files. It's not SFC. I just the file versions just after the hotfix runs (T-8 ; brought up a command prompt and was quick about it) and the file versions were the correct 903. So something with the DX9 install is causing them to overwrite. One work around, could be to during the XPCREATE process..... is ALSO to repackage teh DX9 OPK file. Expand the file, replace the new files, repackage so it acts just like the original. I dunno if the setup will fail, but it's worth a shot.....

or read the site you got it from before asking

other links are on the frontpage as well....

why would you upgrade everyone to RealPlayer10 and then uninstall it? have you tried adding -silent or -s to the command?

hehe being in America...... I didn't not know aobut that soccer game, nor do I believe any channel I have on TV will air it, besides maybe ESPN. Sucks for my friends that love soccer

did you rename unattend.txt to winnt.sif? YOu're supposed to. If your CD is bootable, then you just put it in I386, and it should automatically read the file. Provided you created teh file correclty.

xplode is really easy to use. the XML file it uses just just a batch file program down into parts.... if you read the documentation before actually diving in, you'll do really well. XPDeploy is just a compliment to it, to allow selection. If you actually sit down, and look that the itself without going over peopels posts that say they're having a hard time because they didn't read to begin with, you'll be FINE.

i remember when I had a harddrive failing, the system will continually freeze doing average tasks..... I would say turn off all overclocking you've done and see what happens. If you have multiple ram chips, take one out.
-
the problem with adding it to the list, would be then it would get recognition and theproject is no more. As a replacement for a selection program... There is IceManD's Install prgraom. There is also Wraith's XPDeploy. It's also a selection utility. It's in the XPlode subforum i believe.

Unattended WinXP Installation loses Repair option
Alanoll replied to ITinerant's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
OEMPreInstall=YES tells setup to copy over the contents of the $OEM$ folder. If it's not inlcuded, then they don't get copied. -
it's determined in the settigns for your SFX file. Also if you have any folders paths that are saved in teh SFX and are then recreated. What kind of SFX are you using? RAR, ZIP, 7ZIP?

Use CDIMAGE. Voila, not duplicate files taking up double the space. I believe people don't use it as they don't want to learn Perl, or guess at it.....or they don't know about it.... or they prefer to do it the "pure" microsoft way. I never really liked that site, because of it's name. If they have started to call it OpenRIS from the begining and not Unattended throughout the site, I might have looked closer. The real mean different I see is the Meta tag in the unattend.txt file. That and some scripting for detecting OS and assigning product keys. In the end, what is the real advantage to the common user for using it? Not much. For companies, there is potential....not much....but there still is some.

try adding -f2"%systemdrive%\log.log" to your installshield apps.

RunOnceEx runs before I can even see it. why?
Alanoll replied to shapeless's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
disable the new Logon Welcome screen. That's what is blocking it. You can reenable it as your last your command in RunOnceEX. Just add.... Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "GinaDll"="msgina.dll" Somewhere in a registry file that is called from CMDLINES.TXT (just create one if you don't have one, and add the entry) and then as your last command (or one of your last) in RunOnceEX have a registry file that is Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "GinaDll"=- To reenable the new logon screen. -
Closed READ! http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/batch_commands.htm near the bottom "» Where do I put the batch files? " That pertains to you....

wow... you definately did SOMETHING wrong. In the multiple attempts. It could have been UltraISO or whatever, but winnt.sif DOES NOT determine if the ISO is bootable. Perhaps in one of your edits you changed other things. Just another reason to NOT edit your ISOs, just rebuild them. It's safer in the long run. Good to know you got it working... Be sure to read the forum and unattended.msfn.org website before posting again. I've seen your other posts, and it's obvious you haven't or you just skimmed. First the bloody hour or so and read. There is a PDF somewhere someone made so you can print it off, or read it when you're not online. Also be sure to read the rules.....you broke a couple in your last post.
-
mmmkay, first.....save yourself a few steps, and create the Winnt.sif file first, and then just make the image. The more times you edit it, the more often errors can arise and they do. Second, you totally disregard my previous post of checking in the system BIOS whether you have actually told it to boot to CDROM. THIS HAS TO BE DONE. Just for the sake of sanity, and overall uniformity (go with people know works.....) go here..... http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/finish.htm
