If you have the 865 Intel chipset, use the ICH5 files. and the ones with just 865 in the name. That doesn't look like all of them.....

[Display] & XP not staying at default resolution
Alanoll replied to RichTJ99's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/downloads.htm last entry Are the drivers for the device being installed? Are you testing in VMWare? If in VMWare, it has seperate video drivers. VirtualPC should however work witht eh display change. -
Question about unattended background adding
Alanoll replied to Cretak's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
you can get around the REG_EXPAND_SZ by switching to INF It's alot simpler looking. You could also use a .theme file to set the wallpaper. You coudl replace the original "bliss" wallpaper on the CD. -
Drivers Do Not Install.... Error in winnt.sif?
Alanoll replied to TehMaster's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
There's your problem right there. Virtual PC creates virtual hardware, it doesn't simulate your current hardware. The only way to know for sure if you're drivers load is to do a real install on a real PC with the hardware you're trying to test. -

Need switchs & registring info for a few! Help!

then I suggest you refer "newbies" as "new people" as "newbies" could be deemed hurtful to some. We must be politically correct.... -
indeed.....i personally can't wait to rip it apart. That's always the best part. Not updating the system, but breaking it and figuring out why it broke And on the note of official languages..... I think it's more of a business thing. If most of your customers speak a language, you update that first. I'm sure if spanish had more copies of Windows XP then German, Spanish would come out before German....

files arent removed after using cleanup.cmd
Alanoll replied to Solid as a rock's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
actually, if you use modified DLL, either one, if you reset the registry entry to it's default, WFP will be reenabled. There is no need to replace with the original. The only difference is in RaveRod's hack, the key is changed, in the nLite hack, it skips the portion that resets the key. -
They make them, but it completly disregards ISO standards and removes certain areas of teh disc that are meant as "recovery" sectors when used in a certain mode. If you were to use MODE 2 2352 when burning, you would be able to get about 800 megs on a normal 700 meg CD. You're burner has to support overburning though.

Indeed...rules...yes..... just because I'm bored.... AIM is /S or /silent, not sure which K-Lite is /VerySilent Steam, i don't think there is one. You'll have to ask Valve. But they're prety cool about that stuff. Also, you'll get better quality on your DVD Backups if you used the stuff from www.doom9.org -
well, gotta remember who makes the software English, Japanese and German........Indian workers. The only reason there isn't a Indian (don't know the proper designation, but people from India) release is because of the poverty level in the country. my guess anyways.

no idea, you'd have to ask Timo...... perhaps layout.inf? I think that one is signed as well....

My drivers just don't seem to install in time.
Alanoll replied to Ollie's Way's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
the 0_1 shouldn't make a difference. I do it with my drivers so if I have multiple chipsets, they're fine.....or two difference radeon drivers versions..... It could be that Setup can't logon to the domain until first logon. As I believe I remember someone saying network access isn't ready at that point yet. As for removing too many subfolders, the hard thing to check is to open up the INF files, and see if it speicifies another folder in there. Most driers however don't have subfolders, where as say....ATI's do, and are required. -
I sorted expected more... Just browsing through... I see it create StartMenu items.... Which INFs to install (Components like IE) CAT files to register ASMS directory specified What Devies to Install.... And definitions of what files should be copied over for a speicified type of install (Which aren't many, just specific files like AUTOEXEC.NT)

all the switches for winnt.exe can be found either on the Microsoft site, or using /? at a command prompt. you can't run winnt32.exe from a DOS environment unless that environment is within windows. But for a basic switch set... d:\winxp\i386\winnt.exe /s:d:\winxp\i386 /u:d:\winxp\i386\winnt.sif should do ya.

Correction on the updates.... There is a period between when the service pack goes to RTM and when it is officially released to the web or otherwise. During this period, if there is another patch issued, it may not be included in SP2 as the code has already been finalized.

If you have only one computer, the image may very well be better. Both options are viable, but of course depends on the situations. In corporation where there are say 20 computers exactly the same, it would be better to have a Ghost image as it takes maybe 10-15 minutes to ghost the thing, and it's up in running, where as a full install would take time, would costs money. If you just want an easy way to reformat your computer when you screw something up, the image may be better for you. If you want to learn and perhaps fix a bugs in Windows, create a Unattended XP CD. I personally get irritated when people say Slipstream in the same reference as say Office or something. Slipstream is only Service Packs and perhaps upcoming Hotfixes. The current hotfixes wouldn't be considered slipstreamed as they are only added to the install, not installed with the install. If that made sense good, if not.....well....darn.

have you tried memdisk?

English/German/Japanese are the most used version of windows. So they cater to them before others.

that whole WinPE thing.....yeah....i still have yet to touch that. One option you may consider is to use fdisk or some form of scripting program, and then call setup. I guess eventually I'll get around to WinPE. But I never got that "good" feeling from BartPE. Sure it's free and all, but....that whole plugin thing.....guess I'll look aruond eventually.
