  1. expand the MSU and use expand.exe to extract the CAB. have you used the 64Bit Explorer? Is the MUI at the correct place?
  2. I would say birthday = compile date which was 13 July.
  3. 1 note becasue I read Office 2013 here. MS also censors here. I tried to get a key for the 2013 Pro from Technet Eval page and my email accounts where blocked. I had to use a new email. So MS now blocks users who have different opinions to test the preview builds
  4. Win7 was compiled at 13th july 2009 (6.1.7600.16385.090713-1255). Only the announcement was made on 22th July 2009.
  5. which motherboard do you use on both PCs? Do you use the MS or the AMD AHCI driver?
  6. it patches the Win7 explorer file. Running the newer version complains about already patched file.
  7. I'm currently asking Microsoft why it shows as IDE (IDE\DISKSAMSUNG_HD103SJ_________________________1AJ10001\5&3759548D&0&0.1.0). Mine shows up as SCSI when using AHCI (SCSI\DISK&VEN_SAMSUNG&PROD_HD103SJ\4&1C08B97F&0&040000)
  8. ataport = issues because the HDD runs in IDE mode.
  9. ok, but none of the traces show RACtask activity. You can delete all error reports in action center and delete the RAC data (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC\PublishedData) and look if this helps.
  10. b1 works fine. But you need the original explorer.exe So it would be nice if the tool could create a backup of the original explorer.exe.
  11. Windows still needs it ot generate crash dumps when you have a bugcheck (BSOD)
  12. thanks, I'll test it later this evening And MSFT is angry about you. I've posted a link and a picture of Win8 with your startmenu and 1 hour later the topic was deleted in the technet forum. Again you see the censorship against all users who don't like metro.
  13. ok, nice to hear this. @doveman maybe it is also your TV card. Can you put your Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1100 into a different PCIe slot? Maybe this fixes it.
  14. I'm out of ideas Hight latencies are 128-256µs
  15. RegShot2 has a 64Bit version
  16. the memory usage of Windows 8 with your patched Explorer is fantastic:
  17. do you runthe Win7 resource monitor in background or ProcessExplorer? Booth tools can also cause xperf capturing issues. Also which xperf version do you use?
  18. I've tested it and works What are the chances that those issue can be fixed?
  19. I doubt that this will be ever fixed. A MSFT employee wrote on neowin some years ago, that the feature was gone because MSFT rewrote the Explorer for Windows 7 to implement libraries. And they haven't implemented this feature because of "telemetry" (only some users used it).
  20. During the preparation time Windows defrags the HDD. Open ProcessExplorer and look if the defrag service (defragsvc) still runs. You can also always stop it and run xbootmgr -remove to stop the run.
  21. I like ASRock, their support is fantastic. ASUS and Gigabyte don't have good support.
  22. nice. I'll try it out later
  23. DPCs should be no issue. MediaPortla uses Timers which do some .Net Remoting (SOAP) calls (System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Soap.dll!?) which seems to block the tool. I think such a coding issue causes the hangs.
  24. can you disable this hard drive encryption password? Does this make a difference?
