  1. 1. do you use an IDE DVD drive? If es, configure it as master 3. Word was never part of Windows.
  2. have you run the rundll32.exe command 10 times?
  3. no, it's one of those 4 services: Stop one service after the other with the Services MMC Snapin (services.msc) and check which services caused this issue.
  4. the value 2 is fine for "Start". Are you sure the service is started and running? Delete the pf files in the prefetch folder and run Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks 10 times.
  5. Run this fixIt: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2545227/en-us
  6. try this: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wptk_v4/thread/b88aa183-d3ee-4cd1-92d6-e466c07e1a2f
  7. I mean the page file usage inside the Windows guest, not from your Linux-Host. Run Taskmager/ProcessExplroer inside the VM and show the memory usage summary.
  8. I think Windows uses the page file (swap) very heavily
  9. the NDIS driver causes some huge spikes: Update the Dell Wireless 1702 802.11b/g/n drivers and test it again.
  10. this is Microsofts logic, but this is wrong. here is why: They see that PC sales drop or stay the same but Tablet sales increase. Now they made the MISTAKE: Business economics only accepts endless growing, but todays PC are so powerful that you can use them for 3-5 years. So the users buy tablets as ADDITIONAL devices, NOT AS REPLACEMENTS!!!!!!!! This is why Windows 8 was completely wrong designed with this ugly Metro hell and will fail completely.
  11. Have you tried to run it with the task scheduler to workaround the UAC?
  12. always install all updates! Look in the first post in this topic. You can find a link to a topic where I posted some Windows 7 hotfixes which fix slow startup issues. Install them all.
  13. but it's true. Apple made a study and came to the conclusion that Working touch only on PCs is an ergonomic disaster. So making a GUI which is made for touch is useless on the desktop. That's why they made iOS and have not updated the MacOSX with a touch UI:
  14. looks so. Best would be that ALL MS employees who say Metro is fine should through Mouse7keyboard out of the Window and use touch Monitor 8 hours at work. After 1 day they can't move their arm any longer and understand that this is crap.
  15. DPCs and ISRs are fine: and your AMD Radeon HD 6970 is bored with a resolution of 1280*720 (Why not use 1980*1080? Your Dell ST2220M supports FullHD and the GPU is fast enough). Deus Ex - Human Revolution uses 1 core heavily. But I can see that the Audio service causes 7s spikes (AudioEng.Dll!CAudioProcessor::ProcessEachAPO which calls the audio drivers - MBTHX64.dll/Creative Audio Processing Object Module) every 6s. So try other audio settings in Deus Ex (no EAX and other things) The Realtek High Definition Audio is a cheap chip which is ok, but not the best.
  16. GData causes several HDD reads so that the HDD is busy. Next you run your HDDs in IDE Mode, change to AHCI Also remove tools like the Adobe loader from startup. @eki91 have you installed the hotfixes for Windows 7?
  17. do you use a Microsoft Live ID? It includes a SkDrive where you can upload 25GB of files
  18. The Defender is crap. It slows down Windows soooooooooo much. Uninstalling the 5 Defender packages makes Windows 8 much, much faster.
  19. <interval name="ZeroHiberFile" startTime="11535" endTime="59594" duration="48059" /> you delete the Page file at shutdown. Run regedit.exe, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management and set the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0 this fixes it.
  20. I can't download the trace. Can you upload it to mediafire.com or rapidshare.com?
  21. xperf is to tarce if you have ISSUES, not to prevent them. If everything is fine now, be happy.
  22. When I first saw that Metro nightmare I also thought MS Bob is back
  23. I also use Afterburner and it works, so one of of the other tools causes it. Ot have you not stopped an older trace? Run xperf -stop and try it again.
