If you uninstall IconPackager you will lose your prettified icons. I wish these beautiful icons weren't dependent on a piece of shareware, I'm sure it's possible to remove the dependency. laze
Hey, That's great and 'your' method has always been an alternative to integration and has been known for a several months now but in my opinion integration is always the better option. laze.
Hello, My method is redundant. I suggest you see this thread over at RyanVM's forum for what I consider to be the best solution in regards to integrating Internet Explorer 7. laze.
Hi, I'd like to use your Vanilla add-on with one change, the removal of the license screen when Windows Media Player is first run. Can you please provide me with the registry tweak to disable the license agreement screen? Thank you! laze.
Yes, At the moment, I delete MSOCache after the installation completes, but this isn't ideal. If as prathapml suggests, installation time's drastically cut by not creating MSOCache, then I'm for working that much harder to find a solution. laze.
No, I don't believe it did, though I'm not at my computer at the moment so cannot confirm this (I've recently done a rebuild). It may be a setting that needs to be applied after Internet Explorer's setup has completed (first logon). Alternatively if you use this add-on placing the tweak in the mentioned *.inf file may work. I've finished my unattended install until SP3's released, but do let me know your findings. The tweak itself definitely works if applied within Windows. laze.
Right, I know that Ryan's update pack has http://update.microsoft.com covered. Whereby, if you visit it, you are not presented with the information bar, the active x plugin simply loads. I can't tell you anymore, sorry. laze.
Hi, Ryan's update pack includes the latest version of Windows Update. He also includes a tweak that means it runs automatically without the information bar nag when you visit. I take it you're not a user of Ryan's pack or am I misunderstanding what exactly it is you're trying to achieve? laze.
Hi, I hunted this tweak down personally not long ago now (found it on the official MS site, believe it or not). I've posted it in this thread that contains many more IE7 tweaks that you'll likely find useful. For your convenience: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3] "2200"=dword:00000000 laze :-)
I too have 'msmsgs = Off'. Can I not extract Ryan's pack and use the msmsgs.exe contained? If I plonk it in my $OEM/$$/System32 and copy it to 'C:\Program Files\Messenger\' at the end of RunOnceEx? laze.
Hi, I do not install Windows Messenger, this means it appears as an optional update when I visit http://update.microsoft.com, how can I prevent this happening? Is there a registry tweak floating around? I had quick look (search) but couldn't find anything. Thanks. laze.
The "/extract" switch works perfectly. Just go to start > run > type in the location of the hotfix with the switch on the end and click OK. It will then run, accept the agreement and then select where to save the output. The output will be an *.msp file, place this in your updates folder. Example - c:\KB123456.exe /extract laze.
