  1. Hi, Thanks. For some reason my 7zip reports the *.exe as an unrecognised file-type and will not extract it so your alternative solution is better. laze.
  2. Hi, What program do I need in order to extract the *.msp files? And once I've extracted an *.exe is the only file I need the *.msp file, delete any other files that extract and the original *.exe, right? Thanks. laze.
  3. Hi Sanjay, Please let me know how you get on. laze.
  4. I'm sorry, I can't explain it, I use the same method as you and haven't encountered any problems. Maybe someone else can help. laze.
  5. You're doing nothing wrong? Try placing the background in the same directory as the theme (adjust the path to the background accordingly). laze.
  6. Hi, Rather than set the theme and wallpaper independently, edit the theme's default wallpaper and only set the theme as default. This will have the same effect, but it will be applied to all newly created users. laze.

Hi, You should not be installing KB928089, it was replaced long ago by KB928090 which was then replaced by KB931768. The only two hotfixes required for IE7 are KB929969 and KB931768. laze.
  8. Hi, I apologise if my question has been answered. My browser is returning an error when I try to read pages 2-3 of this thread. Question: There have been several updates released for Microsoft Office 2007 since RTM. In order to apply the KBXXXXXX.exe updates to Office, I just save them in the updates folder and Office will automatically install them during setup, right? I don't need to reference each individual update anywhere in my *.msp file? Thanks. laze.
  9. Hi, I'm sorry, I've just moved into a new flat and I haven't had the internet. Run this batch file immediately after the 7zip installation file and all your troubles will be over ;-). cmdow @ /HID @echo off SETLOCAL SET SC=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes SET Extn=001 7z arj bz2 cab cpio deb gz iso lzh nsis rar rpm tar z zip FOR %%j IN (%Extn%) DO ( REG ADD %SC%\.%%j /VE /D "7-Zip.%%j" /F REG ADD %SC%\7-Zip.%%j /VE /D "7z Archive" /F REG ADD %SC%\7-Zip.%%j\DefaultIcon /VE /D "\"%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\zipfldr.dll\"" /F REG ADD %SC%\7-Zip.%%j\shell\open\command /VE /D "\"%PROGRAMFILES%\7-Zip\7zFM.exe\" \"%%1\"" /F ) ENDLOCAL exit Sorry for the late reply guys, unforeseen circumstances and stuff :-p. laze.
  10. Hey, I don't quite understand you, sorry. The block-list you should be using is Yzöwl's. laze.
  11. Hey, I have the solution for this, though I am at work and it's on my home computer. I'll post it asap. laze.
  12. And there's no limitations to it's use or downsides? laze.
  13. Hey, I cannot get on Ryan's site at the moment, it appears to be down. Does MrnxDmX's add-on directly integrate into the source of Windows XP SP2? I'm intrigued. laze.
  14. Hey, So we can be 100% certain you're doing everything right, can you post your cmdlines.txt and associated registry file for us to see? Also can you tell us the location these files are in on your install, for example \$OEM$\? laze.
  15. Hey Mike, Thank you for taking the time to respond on both counts in great detail. I'm familiar with Ghost, I'll give it a go as a method to help me identify the problem. laze.
  16. Hey Mike, Thanks for your reply. By running Prime95 and Memtest86+ I've been able to rule out my hardware as the cause. I'm sorry, I didn't mention that the registry tweaks above are part of my unattended installation and therefore, both machines have an identical installation. If it isn't the registry tweaks, could it be a corrupt *.dll file? Perhaps my original source has become corrupt along the way, is it likely (or even possible) that Windows would failt to detect a corrupt *.dll during installation? Is there a tool that I can use to verify my Windows source is intact? laze.
  17. Hey, I have installed my install on two different machines, both pass Prime95 (8 hours, no errors) and Memtest86+ (5 complete passes, no errors). The same error is occuring on both machines, it's extremely irregular but always occurs in similar circumstances. The error itself is: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." If I open Event Viewer further detail is given: Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2894, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x04bcc550. The error occurs when I click when I attempt to shut the computer down, immediately after I've clicked 'Shut Down'. I wondered if it's possible that a registry tweak I'm using is causing the instability, here are a list of registry tweaks I think could potentially be, but are not necessarily the cause: ;Helps windows identify more quickly when an application needs killing ;--------------------------------------------------------------------- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "ForegroundLockTimeout"=dword:00000000 "HungAppTimeout"="4000" "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="5000" ;Multiple Explorer Processes to increase stability ;------------------------------------------------- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "DesktopProcess"=dword:00000001 ;Speed up shutdown ;----------------- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="3000" ;CPU gives active programs priority ;---------------------------------- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl] "Win32PrioritySeparation"=dword:00000026 ;Faster reboot time ;------------------ [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "EnableQuickReboot"="1" It's all speculative, I don't have any concrete proof, I've just decided to pick on my registry tweaks. If you can confirm that any of the above 'tweaks' could cause instability, or, know another reason why I may be getting the above error then please do let me know. All add-ons I use are MD5 checked and confirmed where possible, this includes RyanVM's 2.1.7 update pack. Thanks. laze.
  18. Hey, Are you applying it within cmdlines.txt - you should. laze.
  19. Hey, I strongly advise you use Ryan's pack and accompanying integrator, it includes QFECheck mentioned above. laze.

    RunOnceEx

Hey, I'd create your own RunOnceEx if I were you, far easier to manage that way and dare I say it, more reliable. laze.
