The 916281 update is XPSP2. You want the hotfix named IE6.0sp1-KB916281-Windows-2000-XP-x86-CHT.exe instead. Also, the wu.txt is from a 2000 system, not an XP system. Rerun hfnetchk on the system that you installed the hfslipped XP on. The 900325 is a Media center hotfix, and is aso english. the_guy

Enable48BitLBA | Break the 137Gb barrier!

That's what I said. Windows 95 OSR2.x (2.0, 2.1, 2.5) support FAT32. the_guy -
98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
the_guy replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
@MDGx: This might be a little off topic, but the usp10.dll fix for 2003 I sent you should work in your RICHED fixes. What is the difference betwen the 9X and NT versions of those anyway? Also, my Textconv folder has a lot more files, but I pin that to having Office 2000 installed on my computer. The 5 files you have are the same versions as the ones on mine, with the exception of me having an older version of write32.wpc. the_guy -

Windows 95 OSR2.x DOES support FAT32. It just doesn't support past 32GB. @LLXX: If you do patch 4.00.1119, why don't ya try to also patch it so it can recognize past 32GB? Also, can you post a link to where you found it? the_guy -
Tentative changelog for beta 6 (to be released in a few weeks): -rolled back msvcp60.dll to version 6.2.3104.0 -removed auupd.exe -fixed npdsplay.dll copy issues -Updated usp10.dll to 1.0422.3790.2706 (919136) -Updated msvcrt.dll to version 6.1.0.9846 (837239) -Updated scrrun.dll to version 5.6.0.8830 (906092) -Updated vbscript.dll to version 5.6.0.8829 (903648) -Updated triedit.dll to version 6.1.0.9240 (2003 sp1) -Updated dhtmled.ocx to version 6.1.0.9241 (906216) Can anyone confirm whether the updated file do/don't work under ME. I'm thinking that they do, but I'm not 100% positive. I know the following files have no dependiencies on 98SE: usp10.dll vbscript.dll I plan on checking the rest when I get some free time. the_guy

Ms06-015 Patch-> win 2000 shell32.dll ?
the_guy replied to winxpi's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Ya. That way it will be more secure. Also, if you patch MS04-024/MS04-037, that would be appreciated. The version of grpconv.exe included in the 2000 update also works on a 98SE system. the_guy -
The first one is for SP2 and SP1 if you didn't install DX9. The second one is for SP1 if you did install DX9. the_guy

Ms06-015 Patch-> win 2000 shell32.dll ?
the_guy replied to winxpi's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Ok. Does it matter that the 2000 version of webvw.dll lower than the version for ME? the_guy -
Ms06-015 Patch-> win 2000 shell32.dll ?
the_guy replied to winxpi's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
I think it would be a great idea. 1 quick suggestion though Tihiy. Could you also use the fixes from MS04-024, MS04-037, MS05-008, MS05-016 (ignore shlwapi.dll and sp3res.dll in the 2000 fix) and MS05-024 in the patch you make? It's just so that 98/ME will not be vulnerable to those flaws as well. That is just a suggestion as 98/ME are vulnerable to those flaws as well. This is most likely impossible to do. If not, I think it would be an excellent thing to do for the users of 98/ME. the_guy -

version 4.10.2186 is included with kb243450. Direct Download Link here. Also, I know 4.10.2222 patched is 4.10.2227. Why not make 4.10.2225 patched 4.10.2228? Also, the 98FE version should be made 4.10.2187. Just my opinion. the_guy -
Thanks erpdude. I'll send you my local copy of spuninst.inf so you can do what you want to it. the_guy

That's what I mean. the_guy

I mean integrate the hotfix files into the mdac executable, so the install takes less time. What I mean by a prompt is have something like the driver compression screen, but it gets bypassed if xp or 2003 is detected as the source. Like, type reg if you want reg.exe put into your source. press enter if you don't. the_guy
-
Does that require hfanswer.ini? If it does, can you make it an option in the cmd file itself? Also, is there a way to get the 911562 hotfix for MDAC 2.8 SP1 integrated into the install? the_guy

I personally agree that a 1 version increment is all that is required. (2225 should be changed to 2227 as a 2226 version already exists). For example: 2186 (98FE)-2187 2225/2226 (98SE)-2227 3000 (ME)-3001 Can you edit the version for 98FE (4.10.2186, same hotfix as 4.10.2225)? the_guy -
Ok. I don't know. Maybe edit the installer so it doesn't do that at all? the_guy
-
Thanks. I just used the ink erasor again and it looks like the battery is fine again. If it does this anytime soon I'll probably just by another battery of ebay. the_guy
-
I thought of an idea! If Aserone's switchless .net 2 installer is detected in HFSVCPACK, why not copy reg.exe from support.cab to i386, makecab it, and have it copy over to system32 in setup, with adding the entries to dosnet and txtsetup. Of course, this would only be on 2000 as xp and 2003 already have reg.exe in i386. Opinion? the_guy

I bought an extremely old laptop second hand a few years ago. It's a Toshiba Tecra 750DVD (I think it was the first laptop that could play DVD's). When I got it, it did not have a battery. I bought a battery off ebay, and it didn't work. I bought a second one and it worked. Until last week. Now the laptop will recognize the battery for about 10 seconds, be fore the light that represents the battery goes out. I have tried using an ink erasor to clean the contacts, and that hasn't worked. Buying a brand new laptop is not an option for me right now. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to do. I'm not sure whether or not it's the battery or the laptop. the_guy

@erpdude8: In my experiences, you will get the same warning in 2000. 2000 uses the same system as ME and 98SE w/ the 242975 update. Also, I wonder why the icon isn't showing up. the_guy

@Gurgel, I sent an email to your gmail account this morning regarding a few hotfixes. Also, would you like a new topic made to keep track of hotfixes? the_guy
