  1. Welcome echevil... LOL... I agree!
  2. A spyware app that leaves spyware on my machine and bugs the hell out of me? Yeah, I'm with you there... uninstalling now. I'll stick with Ad-aware and Spybot.
  3. "I need to run ide setup"... are you saying you're trying to reinstall windows on a standard IDE drive? "When I get to the setup screen", the setup screen for windows installation or the load screen/bios for the windows thats installed? Sounds like it could be a BIOS password to me.
  4. I agree with ya ther ripken. The compnents it takes to make the CPU itself prob only cost $40, but like you said you need years of R&D and then the manufacturing process which you know has to be expensive.
  5. I agree with seapagen... I can understand where all of you are coming from who don't think it will be possible but how do we really know? Granted it is a badly written article, it does present an idea that most likely at some point in the future of humanity will become fact. Who's to say that computer won't be able to handle parallel processing or even better? In this day and age with technology advancing like it is, I believe anything's possible.
  6. You can use the defrag utility within windows or a 3rd pard app. For the windows default goto computer management within administrative tools, click disk defragmenter, right click the drive and goto defrag. As far as 3rd party I'd recommend PerfectDisk or O&O Defrag.
  7. Well yeah, I've got the cash for the plextor but if the NEC is fast and quiet thats all Ic are about. Don't need any coasters, the only thing that differs between the NEC and the Plextor is the DVD-RW speed. Hmmmm.... I just figured you get what you pay for, and if I pay more for the plextor it'll be a better quality drive.
  8. snekul, yeah I didn't think it'd be that much of a difference. But how about intensive reading operations from normal cds. Like loading an OS for example, the 40x ~ 48x read speed a noticable pain?
  9. Ripken, do you know someone with the drive or just going by the specs? Reasoning behind your choice?
  10. Need some help deciding between 3 DL DVD-RW Drives. The NEC ND-3540A $40.99, the Plextor PX-740A/SW-BL $73.99 and the Pioneer 110DBK $46.99 I prefer a black bezel as I have a black case. I have the speeds below, I'm leaning more towards the Pioneer which I'm sure jcarle will be happy about B) , however it does burn and read normal cds slower than the rest. But it makes it up with 8X DVD DL speeds. I don't really want to spend much more than the Plextor would cost. So around $75 if at all possible. Other good drive suggestions will do if you know of something better. Thanks! Plextor DVD+R 16X DVD+RW 8X DVD-R 16X DVD-RW 4X CD-R 48X CD-RW 32X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R DL 4X DVD-ROM 16X CD-ROM 48X Pioneer DVD+R 16X DVD+RW 8X DVD-R 16X DVD-RW 6X CD-R 40X CD-RW 32X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R DL 8X DVD-ROM 16X CD-ROM 40X NEC DVD+R 16X DVD+RW 8X DVD-R 16X DVD-RW 6X CD-R 48X CD-RW 32X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R DL 4X DVD-ROM 16X CD-ROM 48X
  11. Sweet! Well let me know how it turns out. I'm fed up of waiting and am buying everything on Moday for the rest of the build. $800 ... but I know it'll be worth it in the long run. Will update, and I have a DVD question for you but don't have time to post I'll get back.
  12. As you know, works great on XP. Didn't get Office 2003 SP1 though.
  13. Best I can do man... you'll have to live with it. Unless theres something else out there.
  14. Well, obviously the other hardware components of the machine will also be highly advanced, right along with the softwares. I guess the article should have been 'computers of 2060' not singling out the CPU. But, maybe they were referring to the whole machine, sometimes people call an entire computer CPUs... who knows.
  15. Thats crazy. I have seen this before on other older machines and the problem ended up being the motherboard. Or, replacing the mobo fixed the problem I should say. Hopefully you wont have to go to those extremes. I really am not sure man, hopefully someone else here has had this problem and has some suggestions.
  16. I'm sure by that time CPUs will be capable of much more than just calculations. Solving a problem will be a breeze in my optinion. But who knows, I just thought it was interesting. Sorry it wasn't up to your grammatical standards Zxian.
  17. Does copy & paste work when right clicking > copy/paste?
  18. I knew it would happen sooner or later, kinda freaky to think about though. If the CPUs are smarter than us... then they could theoretically reproduce themselves in mass. Be kinda like The Matrix. CPUs Smarter Than Every Human Brain Combined by 2060.
  19. Yeah... to bad they COULDN'T stay together. I'm glad the bastard that killed dimebag shot himself, thats exactly what he deserved.
  20. I'm all about the Sabbath too man. Can't go wrong with Ozzy
  21. Thanks for your response, under options for me, there is no Email Security. I have Out of Office Assistant, Date and Time Formats, Calendar Options, Reminder Options, Contact Options, Password and Recover Deleted Items. I also see no S/MIME anything anywhere. Any other ideas?
