  1. That's not the problem. He had a bad image. I tested his winnt.sif on my machine and it worked fine.
  2. Anybody have a clue which registry key causes the little user icon to disappear from the start menu?
  3. The sad thing is that the swastika was originally a symbol of peace and good luck in Eastern cultures. The Nazis just hijacked it and turned it into the symbol that it is today. http://www.luckymojo.com/swastika.html
  4. Have you tried removing the comment at the top?
  5. Yeah, the CD looks for a Dell BIOS and won't install without it.
  6. Don't bother doing your own. Send me an IM if you want to see what it does.
  7. If nobody else posts it, I'll be including it in my forthcoming XPSP2 Update Package.
  8. ;Fix for DSO Exploit that Spybot complains about [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0] "1004"=dword:00000003I've tested this tweak and it does work (just make sure it's applied during the T12/svcpack.inf/cmdlines.txt stage so it's applied to the .Default user. This fix is also included in my forthcoming XPSP2 update package.
  9. Your first clue will be if it has the same icon as regular text files. If the true extension is .sif, it'll have the icon for undefined extensions.
  10. I seem to recall VirtualPC having problems with ISOs over a certain size (though my recollection is fuzzy on the matter since I haven't seen anything about it in quite awhile), so if that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me if VMWare had the same problems.
  11. I have no clue, as that version's included with XPSP2 already. I suppose if you have access to an older system you could compare the two to figure it out.
  12. great, thank you very much!
  13. thanks, but you describe how to do it in batch files? I have some batch files I use for other purposes where having it uppercase everything automatically would be very useful.
  14. It most definitely is not installed with SP2. And yes, .NET 1.1 SP1 is a critical update if you have .NET 1.1 already installed. The main fix it brings (securitywise) is that it fixes the GDI+ vulnerabilities present in .NET 1.1. If you don't have .NET 1.1 installed, you obviously don't need critical updates for it
  15. I don't think the cat file is necessary, but it's still very easy to copy it into the system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE} folder. And trying nothing, I've got the method worked out already (and it's successful). I'm just waiting on verification that HighMAT works and I'm releasing it. The one thing is that I'm doing it for the English version of Windows. However, other languages shouldn't be too hard to do, is it will only mean changing some files and editing an INF.
  16. First off, don't cross post. Second, yes, you normally need .NET 1.1 before you can install SP1. However, I created an installer which has SP1 integrated into it. It's available for download from the site I linked you to in the other thread.
  17. http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/netframework.htm
  18. If I could get SOMEONE to test HighMAT for me, this could be a moot point.
  19. Look back a page http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=27095&st=150
  20. it's txtsetup.sif, not textfile.sif
  21. I posted two ways in the SP2 hotfix thread for how to add the patched copy of the updated tcpip.sys file yesterday. Do a little homework next time.
  22. OK, I've had a chance to play with HighMAT on my personal system, so I now I know how it actually works. All I really need is somebody who uses the Windows CD Writing Wizard, as the HighMAT wizard integrates into it.
  23. OK, send me an IM and we can talk. BTW, this is superior to any other way because the files are directly on the CD with no need to run the MSI or anything.
  24. Is there anybody else who uses HighMAT?
  25. IMO, this is kind of useless since there's already a critical update for SP2 which includes a version of tcpip.sys that postdates the RTM version.
