Alright guys i have genuine windows which like us all i hate to have to call Microsoft to reactivate when i perform a fresh install of windows. But on my last install after i activated windows i copied the following registry keys... [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents] "OOBETimer" "LastWPAEventLogged" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion] "CurrentBuild" "InstallDate" "ProductId" "DigitalProductId" "LicenseInfo" Can anyone verify that this works for them also and this is not some fluke on my part??

Its seems to me a too good to be true fluke.. thoughts people? someone else try this?

Perhaps add a section of tweaks that only apply at first boot of windows (Some local machine tweaks only apply at first boot) I apply my tweaks at T-13 and at first boot for the ones that dont apply at T-13.

How can i change the number of programs that appear in the start menu as frequently used. I think default is 6 and i want to change that number. I do not want to change the "MaxRecentDocs" key i want to acctualy set the current amount?? I have seen this reg change before but could not located it with searches...

Hey is there a registry key i can manage that would stop KB923789 from appearing in windows update. KB923789 applies to flash player 6 and on fresh installs i install flash 9 yet this update always appears!?! why does it think my system needs this patch??? how can i prevent this from appearing in windows update other than changing windows update site to hide the update, i want it to think it is installed.

what about a tweak to stop KB923789 from appearing on windows update it only applies if your using flash 6 or before and i always install flash 9 on my pc yet this update allways appears. Alright i changed the ide cable and it fixed the problem but my master drive ended up locking up so i tried to reformat and reinstall windows on it. I did quick reformat the first time and the drive locked up at the 34min mark of windows reinstall. the 2nd reformat ( i didnt do the quick one) the pc had a blue screen of death during the format. partmgr.sys caused the problem according to the bsod. Its a samsung drive which i thought has a 5 year warranty. the drive isnt 5 years (prob 2) but i have no receipt is there a way to return it ot samsung?

Alright i posted a topic a few days ago about how i had 2 hard drives and then i would boot up my pc sometimes my slave drive would not be detected. you guys suggested that i replace the IDE cable which i did and it fixed the problem immediately. (i did several reboots and the drive was always detected) but shortly after the IDE cable was replaced (few hours) my master drive started to lock up my comptuer (this has never happend before) and i would reboot and and the computer would run fine for about 10 minutes and lock up again. It did this about 3 times and on the third time the computer would lock up at the exact same spot in the loading screen where the blue loading bars are moving under the xp boot screen. (the bars got stuck in the same spot every time and i was forced to reinstall on another hard drive. Well everything has been fine now except for this morning when i got up my wife had used the computer right before work (the pc had been off all night) and it was locked up. I rebooted and it said the master hard drive could not be detected... I unplugged the hard drive cables and such and got it going again but i'm worried im about to crash again. what could be the reason for what is going on here?

does anybody anybody have online bank acounts with any of these banks? i want to open up an account with one of them. currently hsbc and emigrant have 5.05 rate which is higher than ings. i also hear that emigrants gui is kinda sloppy and not as profesional as ing's but i would have to open an account to see this myself? anyone able to compair to 2? anyone kind enough to show a screen shot of the acctual online banking page to show comparisons? thanks for the fast replies i will try a different cable (i think got a spare) but i also wonder if some how it could be conflicting drive types. because i had 2 samsung drives UATA drives together the 120 and a 60 and had no troubles but when i put this drive it i have had issues for the last 1.5years (yea i know i have been dealing with it and not fixing it for a long time. What occurs if a UATA drive is linked on a ribbon with a ATA drive or SATA drive or PATA drive ect... ill try the cable thing while i wait for other thoughts on this area. thanks alot

alright i have had 2 hard drives one Samsung 1 western digital both 120gb the Samsung is master and wd slave . the samsung is ultra ATA the WD i am having trouble identifying. what type of hard drive would conflict with a ultra ata drive. symptoms include at some boots the WD "slave" is not detected while at others it is "no changes in settings at all totally random" a few times after the computer is fully booted and a few hours has passed the slave drive will no longer appear and cannot be accessed. and just recently the pc will be running i will return to it and it appears it has rebooted and a warning appears that both hard drives are not detected my samsung may be failing its prob 3years old the wd is 5-6 years old i have scanned my WD for error sectors and nothing come up thoughts anyone??

Alright my understanding is that Adaptec ASPI is like the driver for my Hard drives, cd and dvd drives. how do i check my current version of this. Is it a good idea to upgrade it and what benefits would upgrading have?

Alright i recently bought a brand new monitor Westinghouse 22" LCD and i love it. But ever since i plugged it in when i boot up windows the monitor almost seems to shut off and turn on like 3 times during the xp boot process. I believe it does it twice between the bios screen and the xp load screen and then 1 time between the xp load screen to the windows welcome screen. It pops up and says the screen resolution needs to be changed when it does its reboot thing for the 2nd time. I currently have the resolution set at 1680X1050 the native resolution but it boots up at something much lower than that during the boot process 800x600 maybe? Is this something i have to live with since windows change my monitor to the proper resolution until xp loads?
