  1. I am working on a set of Wrapper Files that currently supports 7zip 15.14.
  2. Download the NVCHECK Program I posted earlier in this thread and report the result.
  3. boot disk: I get only "10000: 0300 0295:10de" All the paths in my Source File print something. Either there is a Compiler bug or something is causing the Program to exit silently. In any case, you probably will need my Patch.
  4. Try this one. NVCHECK.EXE NVCHECK.EXE
  5. The 7950gt only works with the 82.69 Driver.
  6. I think only the 7100 works with the 77.72 Drivers. The biggest problem I have had with the 8x.xx Drivers is the Shutdown Problem, which I fixed.
  7. No USB 3 Driver is available. The Ports should work with USB 1 and/or 2 Drivers.
  8. There is no Demo Patch for SATA.
  9. Thank you! In the second link rloew had wrote "... go to safe mode and Disable, NOT Remove, everything under "Hard Disk Controllers" using Device Manager." Disabling the primary IDE controller allowed it to boot properly. I think it was looking for the hard drive in the primary IDE slot and not finding it.Now when I start the computer it tells me I am missing "vnetbios.vxd", but if I press enter it will continue to boot up normally. My biggest issue now is that it won't detect my cd drive. It seems to want drivers for it. I tried a SATA cd drive as well to see if it would read that, but also nothing. The test you ran confirms the need for the SATA Patch as it does not affect anything else.Since it puts you in Compatability Mode, you lose the Driver for Optical Drives.
  10. You have the 7950GX2. It reports two separate PCI Devices, one for each board. The Secondary Card returns a Class Code not recognized by the Program so it doesn't report any information on it.
  11. That line identifies what Card is being reported on. The rest of the lines have the information that is important.
  12. AMD is fine. In fact I prefer AMD over Intel. DualBIOS provides a backup BIOS chip. It has no effect on operation. I have a GA-K8NNXP Motherboard in one of my Computers.
  13. My Patches are "patches" so they need something to Patch. They solve a number of problems with newer Motherboards but do not provide Drivers for anything that did not have a Driver previously. The main exception is add-on PATA and SATA Cards as my SATA Patch adapts the existing IDE Driver to support them. I also have a free generic USB Mass Storage Driver but there are other alternatives as well.
  14. I Installed Windows 98SE on a Intel D945 Motherboard. Since I used a SATA Drive I had my Patch installed. I didn't use any special Chipset Drivers. You do get Errors in Device Manager but they don't affect normal operation. You will need a Video Card and Ethernet Card. You can use a Sound Card or use an USB Module. Patches may be needed for late 7xxx nVidia Video Cards.
  15. I am using the ME Versions of USB 1 and USBSTOR on my M5A97. The USB 2 is from NUSB. The Drivers are.Version 5.0.2195. It works fine. The non-working "System" entries are 1 Direct Memory Access Controller 2 Motherboard Resources The SATA Controller can usually be placed in IDE, RAID or AHCI Mode. AHCI and most RAID setups use AHCI Mode. Set to IDE Mode. You still probably need my SATA Patch unless you can set it to Legacy Mode as well.
  16. It won't. Only the DVD Drive would be affected.
  17. Well , the point as often happens is not about why it was designed, but rather about how it was implemented. Surely, when it works, it works very nicely. jaclaz P.S.: you may well write the rules of the SATA club the way you want, but you simply cannot state that the rules for the IDE club that I just invented are not true, you are not even a member whilst I am a founder! The implementation isn't that bad either. It took a determined standards breaker like Microsoft to ruin it. The rules of Microsoft override the rules of Jaclaz, founder or not. Check the Code. ESDI_506 Code in this case.
  18. jaclaz Not true. Why do you think Cable Select was designed in the first place. You just have to be careful to connect the Drives in the proper order.
  19. Depending upon which connector is attached to which Drive, you may have the prohibited configuration where the Optical Drive is the Primary and the Hard Drive is the Secondary.Microsoft explicitly disables the Optical Drive in this configuration. I can override this but have not made a separate Patch for it.
  20. Do you have the DVD Drive on the Primary IDE Controller? If so, is it alone on the Primary IDE Controller? If not alone, is it the Master?
  21. With the Drivers installed, boot into Safe Mode. Open the Registry Editor and search for the Value "NOIDE". If found, delete the Value, then reboot. If this does not fix your problem you probably need my Patch.
  22. The SATA Drive probably needs my Patch.
  23. If an USB Mass Storage Device is recognized by the BIOS and then DOS, Windows tries to access it but cannot as it has taken over the USB controller. There is no handover protocol for Mass Storage devices in Windows 9x. You may be able to get around this problem if you disable USB mass storage in the BIOS or make the USB Mass Storage Device unrecognizeble by the BIOS.
