  1. I will maybe make an integrator by myself (with AHK). I just installed MilkE bricopack. Hopefully it uses ResHacker and hopefully it does not delete the log file. I think the installer proceeds like this: 1- the installer you downloaded extracts some files to Packs\ThemeName and runs Setup.exe 2- you select the files you want to be modified, setup.exe finds them, copy them Packs\ThemeName\PackFiles 3- *.res files are generated from Rs??.txt files in Packs\ThemeName\ResFiles (those Rs??.txt files have an half-inf structure) 4- reshacker is called with the parameters shown in the log 5- files are replaced Bad surprise : my shell32.dll is now 35MB. My comp seems slower now, especially when opening apps. I should reboot twice and check but I don't think it will change anything. Some icons are 128x128, sometimes they seem to be duplicated inside shell32.dll. weird. (I exported one 128x128 icon, it was 66KB. ) edit: rs ??.txt files look like : There are half-inf, half not. Also, I just understood something else : in the pack, all icons are 128x128 32bits. They are then resized but I have absolutely no idea on when it is done. I think I will make an AHK app that will be named "reshacker.exe", that would accept the same parameters as genuine reshacker.exe and that would then call it with slightly different parameters (of course, it will have expanded installation files) If you have a better idea....
  2. Exactly. [Components] Calc=off
  3. Thanks a lot. These icons were getting me nervous. I've edited my 7zip AHK installation script to automatically change the icons and I've noticed something : icons won't get updated immediately beacause of IconCache.db. I had to delete IconCache.db (in Application Data), logoff and log on again. edit: the letters on the icons are blurry. Could you sharpen them ?
  4. ?! edit: OK. Nice work. It'll maybe make me try 2k soon. Thanks.
  5. But then I would have problems keeping my CD up-to-date. Moreover, it would takes ages to find which files are needed. Anyway, I've asked if it could be added.
  6. hi Camarade Tux! i checked on the link & some of these look cool ... looking at the screenshots, would these be avail in Eng ver? oh i remember, has anybody already answered you about integrating the files? can we? thanks! Hi, afaik no translation is needed. All those installers are in fact patchers. They don't overwrite windows files, they only change icons (in the same way ResHacker would do). And no, nobody answered. I think it is not currently possible with HFSlip. It should be pretty easy for the dev to make a patcher so I'm going to ask on bricomix.
  7. I plan to extract them with WIHU "7za e "%WIHU%\Apps\Tweak\DirectX.7z" -o%WINDIR%\SYSTEM32." And then I'll try to make windows understand 7z compression.
  8. In "Options" page, don't check "disable standby". In Components, under compatibility, don't tick "Battery". There's a tweak (maybe in unattended page) to disabled hibernate, don't check. Apart from that, there's nothing to avoid. (I'm running my laptop without any problem)
  9. Does anybody know if I can slipstream visual packs other than XPize into XP ? Here's a list : http://packs.bricomix.net/index.php (all packs listed use the same type of installer) And a french description of new installers : http://bricomix.net/packs.php
  10. I just md5'ed Apr06 english release and Feb06 french release. Conclusion : no change though languages are different. So you can use what you want. Also, I have a question : I'd like to compress *_d3dx9_** files with 7-zip and then add something into WIHU to install them or not. Is anything added to the registry or to any inf when these files are slipstreamed or are they just present in SYSTEM32 ? (which can be understood as "should I do anything else than just extracting them to SYSTEM32 ?") edit: Normally, these files, cabbed individually take 6MB. When compressed at Ultra level, solid archive, with 7-zip, they take 1.5MB.
  11. As I can't do a new iso, can you tell me what to change in hfslip's infs ?
  12. Maybe I wasn't using the good one. After 12 isos, I was quite tired. From HFSLIP.LOG : "HFSLIP Version - 60423c" Was it already implemented ?
  13. Microsoft sent me a nice Discovery box for x64 technologies. x64 CD has an I386 folder and an AMD64 one. AMD64 For windows x64 no more win51ip but a win51ap and a win51. For Server x64 : it is called win51aa plus the win51. I opened them in notepad2 and they contain : "Windows". In AMD64, there are driver.cab and driver32.cab. Driver32.cab is approx. 500KB while driver.cab is more than 63MB. Here is prodspec.inf for windows x64: ; ;Note to user: DO NOT ALTER OR DELETE THIS FILE. ; [SMS Inventory Identification] Version=1.0 [Product Specification] Product=Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version=5.0 Localization=English ServicePackNumber=0 BitVersion=40 prodspec for Server 2003: ; ;Note to user: DO NOT ALTER OR DELETE THIS FILE. ; [SMS Inventory Identification] Version=1.0 [Product Specification] Product=Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition Version=5.0 Localization=English ServicePackNumber=0 BitVersion=40 Microsoft does not offer it anymore. france order directlink : https://oms.one.microsoft.com/anonymous/Win...ustomerInfo.asp if it doesn't work : http://www.microsoft.com/france/windows/xp...on/upgrade.mspx To get it, go to your local microsoft.com page. Search for "windows x64" In fact, you can order Server 2003 x64, windows XP x64 and a discovery kit which has both plus two other CDs and which comes in a nice DVD-box. btw, "Processeurs pris en charge : AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon avec Intel EM64T, Intel Pentium 4 avec Intel EM64T" and "Important: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition cannot be successfully installed on 64-bit Intel Itanium-based systems." x64.7z
  14. Report : using latest, then using nLite, I only have one MDAC update missing. HFNetChk complains about dpnetlib.dll and the two missing reg keys I reported just before (and of course, two file versions greater than expected. ) Thanks a lot for all your help. Also, I've found that you can remove all kernel files in I386 except ntkrnlmp.exe. They are copied from driver.cab in fact (you can read they are being copied at the end of textmode just like usual). Don't proceed as nLite does. Just delete them by hand from I386. You see : click, Del. It spared 2.7MB in my ISO : 118MB and all updates thank to you all. :woot:* edit: I installed windows in VMware on both 1 and 2 processors. And from the task manager (the one from host), I can say the two processors of my P4D were used at all stages of install. //now I have to leave this sweet P4D, 300Go RAID, for my poor laptop with a half-dead hard disk. :snif:
  15. Using last version, I still have the same "missing" updates with MBSA and HFNetChk. Especially, it complains about MDAC 2.7. A file named MDAC_TYP.pf exists in the Prefetch folder so MDAC_TYP.exe has been launched but I can't say anything else. edit: remember I'm using SP1a.
  16. I added this, by hand, after installation. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB833987] "Type"="Update" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB914798] "Type"="Update" ...testing new release. Are you talking about the black DOS boxes? No, I removed many things with nLite and I didn't that time, and it was a shock to see all those components back. Nevermind. btw, I'm a command-line warrior : everything with CLI even when it should be done in another way.

On this page, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS06-005.mspx you can read that the updated file for "WMP for XP SP1" (i.e. WMP 8) is wmpui.dll but with more recent versions of WMP, the file is called wmp.dll. It's just a supposition. edit: what WU (or rather microsoft update) says, probably not so important. 18. With UPHClean and MDAC_TYP in HF, at first logon, I get a cmd window and another one which looks like msiexec /? (but that could be bad syntax, maybe because of missing mdac_typ.msi) Note I don't have MsiCabExtract in TOOLS. edit : you're killing me, it's possible to stand WMP, but not the bliss wallpaper.
  19. Textmode install says "impossible to copy MDAC_TYP.msi". I have a mdac_typ.ex_ in I386 which is not corrupted. btw imo mdac_typ shouldn't be compressed, it only saves 40Ko and it's long to expand.
  20. Thanks a lot. (in fact, I only have a few minutes to complete my tests, that's why I'm in a hurry)
  21. Could you quickly tell me what to change in HFSlip's code ? I won't be able to make new tests before a while.
  22. I don't understand, "I already did this". Does it mean yesterday's build uses QFE version or does it mean you are about to release one that will ? I'll build a new iso in a few minutes. That time, I won't use nLite (except for tweaks though, I can't stand webview, especially when running 640x480). I'll report what each of them say.

fdv, I used your modded sfcfiles.dll. I replaced it by hand after hfslip, windows installed, but after 2nd reboot, it said "resuming" installation. Normally, I use both your sfcfiles.dll and nlite'ssfc_os.dll patching. As I read KB******.log files in WINDIR, I thought nlite's modding could be the cause of some of my updates problem so I tried without it and install could not complete. I'm not sure but I think I tried to recreate an iso but it didn't help. Then, I reran nlite on SOURCESS, only with sfc_os patching, made the iso again and it worked. This happened only once. I hope I can do some more tests this afternoon. edit: thanks fdv for the link you just posted and also greetings to Oleg.
  24. A quick note: HFNetChk reports Patch NOT Installed MS06-013 Q912812 File C:\WIN\system32\mshtml.dll has a file version [6.0.2800.1543] that is less than what is expected [6.0.2800.1544]. But according to http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS06-013.mspx , latest is 6.0.2800.1543, not 1544. Then, it seems I lack reg keys for 833987. Could someone send me "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB833987\Type" ? (just to see if it is the *only* missing thing) MBSA and HFNetChk both reports 914798 is missing. Does anybody knows which files get update ? I've been able to find : With nLite I removed UPnP so the error may come from this. But HFNetChk also reports the missing reg key thing. ( SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB914798\Type ) Following updates are only reported by MBSA, not HFNetChk I checked and 908531 contains an update for "Desktop Cleanup". I remove this component with nLite. 900725 has an update for a file I remove (fldrclnr.dll) 840374 updates Help Center : removed with nLite. 841873 updates Task Scheduler : removed with nLite. 841873 updates Messenger service : removed with nLite. (imo Messenger service is only useful at school when working on computers ) MBSA also reports MDAC update, normal, I don't add it. And last, it reports a WMP update and I removed WMP. Thanks a lot for your help. NB: I used nLite cause it takes 5 minutes and then installation is much faster. If I have enough time, I'll try without it this afternoon. wu.txt
  25. Hi, I've just made a new iso. 1- UPHClean is correctly installed with latest (beta) version. 2- it seems some hotfixes did not get installed. I attached some debugging infos. Quick summary: XP SP1a, french, patched using HFSlip -hfnetchk -f output -mbsa scan -list of files in SOURCESS\I386 in dir.txt (because I use nLite so some files could have been removed) -hfslip.log (all critical updates and nearly all optionnal updates for XP SP1a mentionned in Tomcat's list) -nLite's lastsession.ini -one of the "missing" update was not present in HF but others were present -I removed three hotfixes that aren't needed anymore. Thanks for your help. debug.7z
