  3. I was pretty sure, I have a problem with UPHClean. It's not the first time I put it in HF and it never got installed, while it has always been in SVCPACK.   4. Two questions : 1)is UPHClean slipstreamed or post-installed ? It doesn't install on my computer. I've added an entry in WIHU to run specific softs to see if they can be installed at T-12 so I'll check this in a moment. 2)UpdateAgent2 is slipstreamed, right ? I saw no installer in SOURCESS. The problem is that nLite doesn't remove it anymore. (I know, this sounds strange to update it and just after to remove it.)
  5. You may check if browseui.dll is present in your SYSTEM32 folder. It may also require some reg entries. If you want, I can tell what entries iexplore.exe checks when opening the menu so that someone can make a .reg file you will import. I could do it but my windows is in french and some of these entries are localized.
  6. It also says 2.8 SP1 on XP is installed with SP2 and can't be installed otherwise. I made some more tests and I have to apologize, MDAC 2.8SP1 won't install on XPSP1 even with MDAC 2.8. Also, the two installation files are approximately of the same size. Sorry. While installing MDAC 2.8 I read it installed some files for SQL Server. Moreover, SQL Server 2000 SP4 ships MDAC 2.8 SP1. If HFSlip slipstreams this, it would be nice not to slipstream those files (maybe with renaming it to MDAC_TYP_nosql.exe)
  7. Warn out because 2.8 sp1 needs 2.8 to be installed first. So it may be a bit harder to upgrade a CD (because of the order).

  10. I've read and searched the board but I found no answer. I know oembios files' purpose is to preactivate windows. I saw some people delete them, but what will happen ? Would I just lost preactivation ? (On my DELL CD, I have the four and 13MB is making me nervous)
  11. AFAIK, windows licences depend on the number of processors. I remember MS said it wouldn't ask for a more expensive licences for computers running dual-core systems. So IMHO you can install it on as many computers as long as they're not all on at the same time. btw, your answer is in windows's EULA (good luck )
  12. Do you want to run gaim with a service ?I'm not sure it is possible and I don't see the point. In fact, services are made to be hidden. To run a standard app as a service, you need a wrapper because there are a few differences between normal windows apps and services. 1- services have to handle some more messages sent by windows 2- when it starts normal apps, windows calls the main or winmain function (maybe that I should turn on the light). With services, windows calls servicemain (not sure about that name).
  13. Windows components can be removed and added from Add/Remove Programs, then Windows components button on the left. You may need an XP CD in your drive. But I don't understand, you got rid of IE ?
  14. Get LauncherService from here : http://emutastic.emulation64.com/netosoft/projects.htm It's pretty well documented and you shouldn't be lost. However, I'm not sure you will be able to display any UI. NSSM, SrvAny (from M$) and FireDaemon are other possibilities. (just saw this page : http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/HowToRunAsWinService a long time ago I corrected many things in it and wow it got weird and confused, it's a shame)
  15. Super-Magician, I didn't know this package was in this directory. In fact, I really wonder why I have something there. I ran HFSlip in a new folder to avoid old things (errors amongst others) Tomcat76, scriptfr - "5.6.0.8825.exe" and "scriptfr.exe" have the same version : 5.6.0.8825. I found it odd that two different installers got published. :/ Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll move the file in FIX to HF and report (normaly on tomorrow)
  16. I noticed I had one scriptfr and one script... in two different folders. Here is their content. Both are valid archives so I don't understand the difference. Someone to help me ? edit: both installers have the same version number.
  17. I have this update but the file is called "js56" and is for french. So I guess I have to rename it to scriptfr.exe (though I know HFSlip doesn't care about the 'fr'). Right ? edit: XP SP1a edit2: btw, I have msxml6 which is ENGLISH only. Will it cause any problem with my french CD ?

  21. The sfc.dl_ on fdv's site is for 2k and I use that file all the time with 2k. It *may* work with xp, but you'll have to rename it to sfc_os.dl_, xp uses a different filename. I haven't tried it though. In fact, I was thinking about that: Tomcat, OK btw I'll make a new iso on Wednesday.
  22. I'm not using any file replacement, only updates. Then I use nLite and patches uxtheme and sfc_os. Do you think latest version will result in smaller iso ? @Super-Magician, tommyp thanks for the explanations. Also I've seen a modified sfc_files.dll on vorck.com It disables sfc by providing an empty list of protected files. Who has tried it ?
  23. You probably noticed MS updated "DirectX for managed code". AFAIK Avalon (vista's UI) will be written in managed code/C#. IMHO these releases are public "betas" and MS probably wants user feedback. But these releases also includes some security updates. The thing I can't understand is all those d3dx9_**.dll They never show in dxdiag but are in SYSTEM32 (even when installed normally after setup) and are all 2,20MB+/-10KB. PS: hfslip echoes Dx integration is only for 2k; it should also states XP is OK.
  24. I always forget hfslip is open. Reading the source right now. I found nothing special. :/ Except that the source is nearly 2000 lines long.
