  1. I'd prefer a Creative Commons license instead of a GPL one. If you want to allow a commercial redistribution, with GPL you need to get an agreement from all persons who contributed. With Creative Commons you don't need to. (this was just an example) See this page : http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/meet-the-licenses I'd go for by-nc-sa (or by-nc) : paternity, non-commercial, share-alike.
  2. WTF?! Forgot that my SOURCE folder in hfslip was already patched with sp2. Quickly corrected. edit : in fact, I forgot that but at the same time, my hotfixes were for sp2 in fact.
  3. That was without nlite. I think it has something to do with the restart of the installation because on initial try, I have no problem with inf files. I just confirmed it : it appears only after installation has been "resumed".
  4. Some problems in fact when trying without nlite. -installation did not complete : it restarted after T-9 without throwing any error and did not seem to crash -then all or fast all hfslp*.inf files were missing -restarted again Nothing special in it but here is the hfslip.log: HFSLIP Version - 61006a HFSLIP Path - E:\Adrien\yAXM\hfslip\ OS in SOURCESS - XP SP1 French DirectX9c Slipstreamed Drivers - SPX.CAB Added CD Install Path - Default CDTAG - WIN51 =============================================================================== Files in your FIX folder: Files in your HF folder: DirectX90-KB839643-x86-FRA.EXE FRN_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE IE6.0sp1-KB833989-x86-FRA.exe IE6.0sp1-KB918439-Windows-2000-XP-x86-FRA.exe IE6.0sp1-KB918899-Windows-2000-XP-v2-x86-FRA.exe IE6.0sp1-KB918899-Windows-2000-XP-v3-x86-FRA.exe IE6.0sp1-KB925486-WindowsXP-x86-FRA.exe OE6.0sp1-KB911567-Windows-2000-XP-x86-FRA.exe Q322011_WXP_SP2_x86_FRA.exe Q327979_WXP_SP2_x86_FRA.exe Q810243_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe Q814995_WXP_SP2_x86_FRA.exe WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-FRA.exe WindowsMedia-Q828026-x86-FRA.exe WindowsMedia8-KB817787-x86-FRA.exe WindowsMedia8-KB917734-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB817778-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB822603-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb823182-x86.exe windowsxp-kb824105-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB826939-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB826942-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb828035-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb833987-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb835732-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb837001-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb840987-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb841356-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb841533-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb841873-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB873339-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB873376-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB885626-v2-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb885835-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb885836-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB887472-x86-SP1-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb888302-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb890046-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb890859-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB891711-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb891781-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB892944-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb893756-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb896358-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb896423-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb896424-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb896428-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb899587-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB899589-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB899591-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb900725-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB901017-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB901190-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb901214-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB904706-DX9-x86-FRA.exe windowsxp-kb905414-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb905495-x86-fra.exe windowsxp-kb905749-x86-fra.exe WindowsXP-KB908519-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB908531-v2-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB910437-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB911280-v2-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB911562-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB911927-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB912817-v2-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB912919-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB913580-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB914388-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB914389-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB914798-v2-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB917159-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB917422-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB917537-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB917953-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB919007-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB920670-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB920683-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB920685-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB921398-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB921883-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-KB922616-x86-FRA.exe WindowsXP-Windows2000-Script56-KB917344-x86-fra.exe xpsp1a_fr_x86.exe msxml6.msi Files in your HFCABS folder: BDA.cab BDANT.cab BDAXP.cab DirectX.cab dxdllreg_x86.cab dxnt.cab dxupdate.cab Feb2006_MDX1_x86.cab Feb2006_MDX1_x86_Archive.cab Feb2006_xact_x86.cab Oct2005_xinput_x86.cab swflash.cab Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: modifyPE.exe Files in your HFEXPERT folder: E:\Adrien\yAXM\hfslip\HFEXPERT\APPREPLACEMENT\SFCFILES.DLL =============================================================================== HFSLIP run time: 5m51s
  5. All patchs correctly installed under XP SP1 according to HfNetChk (and of course some warnings with file version greater than expected). But note, I'm not updating MDAC and I'm using nlite. I'll make a new build without nlite. edit : w/o wmp10
  6. XPSP1 is enough. And do it when you have the time No problem today. I only wackoed my HF_SP1 and HF_SP2. In fact, I did not have any problem : I forgot to rename HF_SP1 to HF. If using Flash 9, the OCX is 989KB and SWFLASH.IN_ (only for 2K and 2K3) is 1.03KB large. Thanks for the info. I've just compared both ocx files and v9 is maybe 100KB bigger so I've added it. One last thing : I use Console on my desktop and once hfslip is done, when I press "Enter", hfslip exits Console. Since this is by default on some OS, could a check be added so it closes only when really needed. Thanks.
  7. Trying new version now. I have a bunch of questions and bug reports : SMBUS, IDE Controllers, CPU drivers : are they absolutely needed ? Let's say I remove AMD CPU driver. Can I install XP on an AMD machine or will it simply die ? XP doesn't recognize AMD64 and Turion64 CPUs so keeping them may be useless. (I know VMWare emulates an AMD CPU...) Same goes for AGP Filters My source is SP1 fully updated with HFSlip. Is it normal I can remove Blaster/Nachi removal tool ? How is network provisionning needed by Wireless Zero... Does WZCS will forget my networks ? (WZCS is bad but some drivers are worse...) It is said UPnP Host is needed by TCP/IP Printers. What is a TCP/IP printer ? Does it have anything to do with the netbios ones ? I don't know how my lastsession.ini looked like but nlite did not read the product key from my winnt.sif nlite's icon seems to be 16x16, at least in Alt+tab nlite lets the user choose between "high compression" and "not high compression". I think it would be better with more choices. What is WBEM logging in Tweaks ? I know a lot of windows things. That one is still unclear to me. Of course, google helped but a comment is really needed. Does Remove Pinned Apps List from Start Panel kills the functionnality or does it only remove MS's shirtcuts ? Smooth edges of screen fonts has three different modes. I wanted to disable it and froze because of the caption (Standard) of the third mode which is usually the "Disabled" one. Of course, sorting modes alphabetically is nice but it doesn't really mater when you only have 3 words. I'd wrote "Cleartype\nDisabled\nStandard". Same for tooltip animation and menu animation I've finally understood one windows tweak thanks to nlite : 'use a background image for each folder type". Thanks a lot. You need to double-click on services to change their boot state. Simple click on the appropriate column was better imho. I'm using nlite in english on a french source and while most services have their french name, some have an english one : "Print Spooler", "COM+ Event System", "COM+ System Application", "Logical Disk Manager", "Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service", "Task Scheduler", "WIA", WMI Now, I just have to make a properly updated iso with hfslip (I slipstreamed SP1 hotfixes on an SP2 source)
  8. How much does swflash.cab add to the size of the iso ? I'm not slipstreaming it ATM but I may since it shouldn't add too much to my iso.
  9. Sure here is the link. It's only 1024x768 though, i made it to go along with the xp classic theme when i didnt have the internet connection (boredom) Thanks a lot, it fits perfectly and is much better than a monochromatic background.
  10. can anyone help with this question of mine, i am curious as to this functionality of nlite. Search a bit more in the remove components page. (will post a screenshot later) @phiber0ptik, couldn't find. I have to say the characters you're mentionning do not necessarilly need unicode. And one day, I'll make my lastsession.ini translator.
  11. GPL ? Not necessarily the best one imho. Or add something that will still give you many rights over MicroWinX : as soon as someone contributes, all rights will be shared : I add one line, I have as many rights as you.
  12. *maybe* XP SP1 and SP2 without WMP. (let's say I work maths 7 hours per day, every day)
  13. @spenxa, would you mind sharing your wallpaper.
  14. Netbios over TCP/IP <> Netbios Netbios over TCP/IP (netbt) has been introduced with 2k I think. It is not the netbios we used to know with win98 it uses port 445. 2K/XP and up first try to use the one on port 445 if it is not available, it falls back on old 13{7-9} port. So file sharing is possible without this service. (I know, netbios is fast impossible to understand.)
  15. There's a "protocol", a driver, a service, sometimes it changes its name to SMB. As it has already been said, you can see "TCP/IP Netbios Helper" in services.msc, but you may have to look at your LAN connecitons props : there's a sort of protocol. (no more battery...)
  16. Afaik, windows DOS-style programs have a main function, graphical ones a winmain one and services have serv(ice)main or so function. So a program needs to be designed to run as a service and moreover, services receive some specific messages (shutting down and co.) your program should handle if you want it not to simply die when you power your computer off. ... to be continued.
  17. Nice to know. Thanks. However, is AHK using AutoIt's old compiler ??
  18. Yeah, I've noticed this too with some, but not all, AutoIt scripts. I don't know why this happens, though. Can any UPX/AutoIt/AutoHotkey gurus answer this question? I'm rather curious about this myself. I think I understood a bit why : compiled script (.exe) are just text files plus a compiler; they are not native code, they don't obey the same logic. Now, let's ask a real developper.
  19. I'll probably make a new build tomorrow. And, I'd like to slow down, but I can't. The studies I decided to do are known to be the most difficult in France, but at the same time, they are the funniest too imho. @Tomcat, I figured it because someone told me WIP and I asked.
  20. WIP -> Work In Progress Whoooaaaa. I'm working too hard, I don't even know which day is it. Ok, in fact, I know we are saturday because I don't work tomorrow. But I'm still wondering if MS already released this month's hotfixes. ...quick calculation..., answer is yes. I'll try to test this new release asap.
  21. And then if 90% people voted Kerry and 10% Bush, you can swap the names to get 90% for Bush...
  22. sfc_oS.dll cannot be missing.
  23. One quick word about UPX decompression : AutoHotKey uses upx.exe to compress the scripts it compiles. And if you use upx to expand these files, then you can't run them anymore (stupid CRC ?).
  24. Right, I think I remember now. Does Win+D also reduce avedesk and all its desklets ? (if it does and if there is no workaround ATM, I think I know how to do it. )
