UPDATE: -
Interesting project: why don't you post it on ReactOS forums too ?
-
Hi Xeno, good work as always. Just two questions: 1. does KEX 4 integrate SH95UPD "extensions" ? 2. do you plan to add some sort of - graphical - mod to let users understand that they're using KEX at glance ? (it could be a theme, icon set or just a wallpaper, IMHO)
-
This could be an official KerlenEx "plugin" then... Cool, but you must be more clear about licensing (GPL) on your website. Even better: whay don't you get a sourceforge/savannah/freshmeat/berlios/Google Code page ? Getting an account on some of thoose open source projects hosting services could bring more developers that may help your project growth. Last but not least remember that GPL forces derivative works (as yours) to release the sources, or you could be irregular or license violator...

From Wikipedia: A free win32 implementation (alternative to cFosSpeed) would be great, IHMO (and ReactOS would benefit too) !!! Some -maybe- interesting open source links: obwman - A simple and efficient tool for traffic shaping. NiceShaper - using HTB, gives the best possible bandwidth intake, but at the same time guarantees that all users, gets bandwidth necessary to confortable use of web and interactive services. NiceShaper take care of download when slower upload stops up. VTun is the easiest way to create Virtual Tunnels over TCP/IP networks with traffic shaping, compression, and encryption. It supports IP, Ethernet, PPP and other tunnel types. VTun is easily and highly configurable. VPN, Mobile IP, Shaping, etc Hope that inspires...

[SOLVED] Switch to x64 for HD video editing ?
patchworks replied to patchworks's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
Well, according to this DVXuser.com's forum 3ad seems that someone got Vegas to work on XP64: EDIT: an interesting 32bit vs WoW64 vs 64bit Vegas rendering test. -
Hope to see this sometime in the future...

A package manager/downloader (like this) would be better, IMHO: WinLibre Downloader -
A bit more difficoult: we have an intranet application (under Internet Explorer) that automatically send prints to a COM1-thermal label printer. We need to enable an inkjet USB printer to do the same job directly on A4 papers, but the program dosn't allow to change the output (and can't be modified). In other words, we "just" need a trasparent COM1 redirector tool. Thanks in advice for any help you can share. Marco

Hi all. I really need any suggestion to solve this problem: redirect COM1 printings to USB or mapped LPT1. I tried with MODE but, as M$ claims: So, do you know any solution (that works unde 98SE) for this problem ? Thanks in advice.

[SOLVED] Switch to x64 for HD video editing ?
patchworks posted a topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
We just buyed 5 x Canon HF-100 HD (SDHC) cameras to record live music performances. Our compositing machine (A64 3700+ / 2 x 1 Gb d.c. DDR400 / 2 x 500 Gb RAID0-SATA) seems too slow for 85 MBps (5 x Full HD 1920 x 1080 / 17 MBps) multicamera edit. According to Sony (that manufacture Vegas, the editing software we adopted): So the question is: do you think that just a switch to Windows XP x64 SP2 could help us ? Or do we need to upgrade our machine (with an x2, for example) ? -
XP64 vs XP32 vs Vista64 vs Vista32
patchworks replied to iceangel89's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
Hi to all. We actually work (video editing) with an Athlon64 3700+ / 2Gb RAM / 2 x 500 Raid0 machine with Windows XP SP3 32bits. We've buyed 5 x Canon HF100 and we have some problems to manage all FXP (1920 x 1080, 17 Mbit/s) streams together (multicamera edit). We work with Sony Vegas that is 64bit compatible since the version 8 so, do you think that the switch to xp64 may help ? Thanks in advice ! -
You have to learn to read better: the last post @ WPC is from me, and i constantly add new findings in the 1st one (Last edited by forart.eu on 25 Apr 2008, 23:36, edited 10 times in total.). So, please don't spit lies, thanks. BTW NL-Stitch already clarified his position here: Now I'm already too tired to reply to all (it's just wasted time for me). I HAVE UNDERSTAND, so mods please close my account. If possible delete all my post or lock them. Thanks again. To all.

Thank you very mutch, Tihiy. I know you (and not only you here) are against open source, but "unlike others" claim seems too mutch offensive to me (expecially for ideas). THANK YOU. About works, true, I'm not (and I will never be) a developer. Last but not least, as I already claimed: EDIT: I realized that my efforts are not apreciated here (and sincerly I don't have time to waste), so I decided to stop my activities here. To mods: please close my account.

Uhm, dunno this don't seem an "high-level mod" (i mean, it requires a theme manager and if we don't use UberSkin...) but a "mid-level" one. I belive we can start with just simple things such as icons and fonts, for example (keep stability in mind). They *shouldn't* have any effect on the OS functionality, so are safe. To be different from any other mod projects I believe we can use a mix-up of these BricoPacks (btw, check this WikiMedia's icon set comparison page too). It would be really great to have a Desktop Visualizer-like feature on the (future) official website... BTW, if you're not a developer -like me- I believe you can collect documents/tips/infos for the documentation that is mutch more important, IMHO.

Ensure yourself by releasing it under GPL, then ! After that, you can "grab" ideas/features/codes from other open source Windows shells, expecially this one. ...and here's a couple of open source theming links to explore (for a possible integration): ShellWM, Windows skinning application to be used with a Win32 Shell replacement (like Litestep, geOshell, sharpE, etc.) or just native Explorer; CustomEyes changes most of the programs graphic components: the menus, the buttons, the borders... Last but not least keep in consideration to join the Win9x Developer team !
