  1. Did you just break off the Molex connector? If so, then just solder that back on, no biggie, be carefull though, dont cross the wires, your powersupply wont like it .
  2. lol, not realy. Like I said, a bunch of drives at school/work needed to be killed. Some got dismantled like that, and a few others I managed to borrow and shoot.
  3. For those who dont know, those are the magnets out of a HDD. There are usualy 2 in each drive, some have only 1. Btw, I have an entire stack of platters to go with those too.
  4. Been there, kinda done that http://www.computingzone.net/images/magnets.jpg
  5. I didnt say that you could. I just stated that I didnt know anything about the deal with NTFS 4 & 5.
  6. Dont know anything about the NTFS, but taking ownership of the drive/folder should work. I've done that at work before when I needed something in a folder I didnt have access to. (Myself as an Admin, I took ownership of it, then gave myself permisionto it. Excelent little trick when somone is trying to keep you from getting somewhere or seeing something...).
  7. No i got tired of screwing around with it so I stuck it back on my eMax server, too much hassle and bandwidth problems to warrent using my computer as a server.
  8. Bout **** time, that **** worm had our entire school district down for 3 days.
  9. How can these be "screenshots"? Their shot alright, but they have nothing to do with a screen. If you want, I can 'shoot' and old 15" 'screen' I have, then it would be a 'screenshot'... Forgive the bluriness of some of the pics, I forgot to set my digi-cam to close-up mode for most of them. And if you think those are large, then I dont think you want to see the original 1600x1200s.... Also, 9 out of 10 of the shots were from over 40 yards. No I was not aiming at anything in perticular on most. Yes, my sights were slightly left and high, I had not sighted the rifle in a while, and it got jostled a bit, so everything was off.
  10. An old 486 drive, about 150mb I think, around 12 hits that I can count, and none got past the top layer or the platter. They sure dont make them like they used to.... http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture010.jpg Three hits in the same spot is enough to finally break the casing and get through it... http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture012.jpg Another WD Caviar, you can see a part of the bottom casing sticking out there, not other real damage (other than the obvious). http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture013.jpg
  11. The firing line http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture006.jpg The firing line again, after everything was over. All those little white things are actually bits and peices that have come off. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture007.jpg The same WD drive that was in the 3rd pic above. Still no actual penetration. The side was ripped off both by the drive being bent like that AND a glancing shot on the edge. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture008.jpg Forgot what drive this one was, again, I dont think there was any actuall penetration here, just the botom casing comeing apart and breaking the bottom board. Oh yes, the drive motor, assembly, and platter mounts are missing too. Dont ask me where there are becasue I dont know, they went flying off after about the 3rd consecutive shot, and I have not found them yet. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture009.jpg
  12. "Borrowed" a few HDDs from work that had to be certified as blank or unrecoverable and deceded that I wanted to follow the 'unrecoverable' idea...... Dont worry if these load slow, their coming off my personal server. I will add comments to each pic individualy in just a moment. The first shot, hit the board first, then came through the top. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture001.jpg Same type of drive as above, no penetration this time however. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture002.jpg Gota love those Western digital drives, havent even broken the outer casing yet. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture003.jpg The first shot here hit this stupid metal ring, denting it, but not breaking it. The second shot went right through the board, but didnt break the top cover. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture004.jpg The best part: Whats causing all the destruction, .22 cal shot rifle with a simple scope. http://www.computingzone.net/harddrive/Picture005.jpg Please don't post such large images...
  13. I could only find one picture, and that was form a page about the server room being worked on.
  14. www.newegg.com and personly, nVidia sucks. But thats just my opinion
  15. How the hell do I get XYZDOMAIN.com to point to my IP address? My current registrar keeps giving me half-assed solutions, most of which are just different ways of redirecting. Example: ping www.chaosratt.com and you get my site, comfortably hosted at eMax. ping www.computingzone.net and you get some BS computer that redirects to my ip.
  16. Macs as far as I know are no longer "king" of anything. Had a nice argument with my schools graphic design teacher over that. He was knee-deep in the yearbook with his macs and HATING it. He said he'd never "used such a POS system before" (mainly becasue he didnt know what he was doing, I knew about as much as he did, and ive never used them before). He said the only reason he even got Macs was becasue somone in the schoolboard didnt know what they were doing and forced him to buy them. He was going to get some basic IMBs like the rest of the school uses and just stuff them full of HDDs and memory, and get all the proper programs for them, at half the cost of the Macs.
  17. DDR has one notch in the stick, SDR has two notches in it. As for the speed, run a system utility program like Sandra to get that.
  18. Hm... I got my email withen minuets of register when I set it up.
  19. I personaly preffered getright back in my dialup days. Got a bit anoying after x# of downloads, want you to register it, but it always worked for me when i needed it.
  20. I knew it was going to be something simple like that. I have an apache book here (For ver 2 none the less) and I know I've seen that in there before, but I couldnt find it this time. I'll let you all know my site address when its ready. My ISP finally gave me a dedicated IP with my account upgrade. As for the admins who already know my IP, there isnt much there but an empty index, so dont bother
  21. How do I make Apache2 treat an index.php file just like it does an index.html file?
  22. lol, ive killes a few mobos "accidentaly" before As for ways to do it? The simplest is to break a few surface resistors off, or remove the bios chip. Remove some capacitors, it will still work, but it will be highly unstable.
  23. w000t $5 more a month, I am now in the 3mbit club Will take 24-72 hours for it to actually change though. but I do get a static IP as well
