  1. My current test: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests/10138....com/1083363560
  2. Hm... acording to their site the Xtreme is the same price that I am now paying for the Ultra *begins dialing Bellsouth's # *
  3. Ill check, but they only made DSL avaiable a few weeks ago. Its the stupidest thing in the world, I can look out my window right now and see the cable lines up on the telephone poles, I can also see where it ends, aprox 1/2 mile down the road..... It has been like that for 8 years....... I bet my friend $150 that since bellsouth came in with DSL, Brighthouse would be here in 60 days extending that cable line to the end of the street. So far I'm losing that bet, but theres plent of time left....
  4. lol, I am using Bellsouth Fast Access as well, their most expensive option, and still I'm paying more and getting less than my neighbors on cable, I just wish I could get cable, or that Bellsouth would boost my lines to 3.0/512 now instead of "sometime in the next 6 months".
  5. sweet. I get 1.5/256 but I pay 49.99 for it, and it is the only thing I can get, and it isnt even full-duplex
  6. yet another reason not to buy anything from Apple, other than maybe an Ipod...
  7. like many people have already stayted, it depends on whats in the ISO, if its a lot of code, it iwll compress very well, if its full of textures, then not much at all. I have had some ISOs (like windows) get compreesed down to 30% of their original size, while some games i can only get down to 85-90%.
  8. Lol, hes right /\ 80C isnt even to the boiling point of watter, let alone the melting point of metal.
  9. Is it possible to make an unatended 2000 pro CD? My work has considerably more 2000 machines than XP, and I've seen the article to slipstream the SP into 2000, i figured their not all that different, maybe they could be made unattended too?
  10. 1.35gb isos take me around 45min-1hour to compress with my processor, and about 10-15 seconds to unpack.
  11. yea, register a domain name with your email address. Better yet, do that three times. Excelent way to get 100+ spams a day.
  12. If you want full VIVO (video in, video out) controll, I would reccomend an All-In-Wonder version of any ATI card.
  13. I do not know any specific cards for video playback, but my 9500non pro has svideo out, duel monitor support, and only cost around $130, is that about all you need?
  14. So those of us that went with eMax becasue of this fourm before today are SOL?
  15. Text and excatuables (lines of code) compress very well, I have some files that have 80% compression (ie. the file is 20% of what it used to be). Multimedia does not compress very well at all. a 715mb video would only compress down to 702 with winrar at maximum. While a 300mb program file was compressed down to 80mb. All depends on the file.
  16. I would have to say the 9800XT is a bad idea. yes, it is one of the best video cards available, but you said yourself your not going to be gaming, there are cars that do video playback just as good if not better than the 9800, and are considerably cheaper, they just are not as good at gaming. Nice rig otherwise
  17. You will have to edit the boot.ini file to remove the boot option you dont want. I have not used the program in a long time, but if I remember right, there was an option to recover the old boot.ini. Check to make sure you dont have a file like boot.bak or boot.old floating around.
  18. If it realy is 733mhz, then I would reccomend a ram upgrade to at least 128mb and run XP When my system died a few months ago (**** lightning) I was gaming off of a 750mhz, 128mb, 20gb, Radeon 7000 rig. Was a duron though.
  19. So do I, I will put it up on my server when I get home from work today.
  20. OK, I was the guiny(sp?) pig here. SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS its noting more than a few jpegs strung together to look animated. I have used animated desktop programs before (trustworthy ones) that actually rendered a scene for your desktop, like a space scene, very cool. I'll have to give it a thumbs up on the little control program though, it allows you to download and install many more of these "animated desktops" right from the app. I'll give it two thumbs down for the astounding 40+mb of memory it and its companion programs hogged down. Uninstalled, exterminated. Ad-aware detected 1 bad registry key afterwards.
  21. Sager is a good brand for all-out power, they use all of the latest parts last time I checked (they have laptops that outperform many desktops) Desktop P4s, Radeon 9600 Mobility, AMD64s... you get the picture Voodoopc also has similar systems, though I have heard little about them.
  22. lol, this has been around the net a few times, I was suprrised it hadnt been here, its been to every other forum I am a member of. And its fake, no government would let Ford actually kill a cat in a comercial. If you realy want to get into it, freeze frame it right before the cat falls off the car, is neck is all one solid color, and the cats fur doesnt quite look like it did when it jumped up there. Nice CG, but not perfect Though, I am still fond of the pidgion one myself
