  1. And almost as long as your reply to it, which included it in its entirety.cjl Really ?
  2. Oh my, another of your kilometric posts.
  3. JEEZ, erpdude, why don't you read this forum more carefully ?
  4. Everytime you boot into Windows your registry is automatically backed up if the date of the PC is at least one day ahead of the last backup. So it should not matter for how long your PC has been on. But if you did reboot once a day in the last five days, and an error appeared in the registry before that, all your registry backup will contain the error as by default only the last five backups are kept. I use 30 (Max : 99) so I have at least one month's worth of old registries in any case a problem is not immediately obvious. Edit the MaxBackupCopies values in scanreg.ini in the windows dir for changing the number of backups if you need. Also scanreg must be allowed to run at startup (it is by default) otherwise no automatic backups are made : REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "ScanRegistry"="C:\\WINDOWS\\scanregw.exe /autorun"
  5. SFC is not very good really. Mostly because of it's speed. You can't run it frequently ( after each time you install something) for quick checking of eventual file changes or you spend your entire computing time with it. And if you run it only when you have a problem after you have used your computer without probs for a long time, you'll get lost in all it will find that has changed since last time you did run it. IMO.
  6. No. What registry should be backed up regarding the internet? When I have got that type of problems, usually after installing an internet related utility that has not replaced system files nor added any vxd (I monitor this always), I restore a copy of the registry from the sysbackup folder and I am fine after that.
  7. CSIDL : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....enums/csidl.asp http://vbnet.mvps.org/index.html?code/brow...idlversions.htm That's what I have used for my Shell Folder Launchers : http://homepage.ntlworld.com/eidenk/Files/SFL.7z
  8. There is no SFC on WinME.
  9. Have you tried to restore a backup of the registry ? Have you noticed any file change with your VB script ? Does the other machine use the same physical modem or is it just the same brand and model ?
  10. I am not too much a SFP specialist as it is removed from my ME system, but yes, in principle, System File Protection prevents changes to protected files. What do you exactly need to do ?
  11. It is a file normally protected from change by SFP. And Unlocker does not work on 9x systems I believe.
  12. It seems it is doing allright now. BTW : Very usefull aviutil page you have on your site.
  13. No sorry I don't remember that either. I'll try again and if there is an error I will write it down next time.
  14. WTF do you care if MS does a good marketing campain or not ?
  15. Stupidely I clicked on the error message too fast.
  16. I have no problem using it with a -= Photos =- folder here.
  17. Get this key and see if adding it to the other does it : HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects2
  18. Your asx does not contain streams but a playlist. Anyway it does not play it properly nor does it play the asx files it can create. You can create playlists in m3u, pls, mpcpl and asx format from within MPC by using view/playlist as you may not have noticed, and then you can right-click on that playlist and choose save as. You can use any of the other playlist formats as they all work for playback and fill a bug report to Gabest so maybe he will fix this in the next release, as it would appear to be a bug.
  19. Can you upload it somewhere so that we can try it with MPC on other systems ?
  20. You can get genuine Windows ME on eBay for quite cheap. I'd leave the illegal usenet download aside if I was you. Safer. If you get one I also suggest updating it unlike what is suggested above as updates are fixing bugs or security holes.
  21. What is in your asx file ? Media streams, filelist or url ?
  22. It does not work here. I did a first scan and then deleted a 2000 files subfolder in the application data folder and reran the toll and it gave me an error message, couldn't handle it.
  23. I am using this usually : http://www.xs4all.nl/~hneel/software/syslog.zip Now I've tried yours and the batch file fails to do anything.
  24. It's normally a Windows XP only application isnt'it ?
  25. And also Qemu.
