  1. Right, I have installed the patch and it does not change anything to the winfile copy problem with 2GB + files on my machine. Everything is exactly the same. Size of 2GB + files is reported wrongly within winfile and trying to copy will throw an error message. Should the patch have fixed that ? I was expecting it would. Is that a problem with winfile do you think ? And how could I test the benefit of this patch on Win ME ? @erpdude : Yes I use Explorer usually for copying but sometimes I use Total Copy which is is a drag and drop shell extension I have installed.
  2. I was talking about Windows Explorer, not File Manager, eidenk. If you copy a 2Gb file from within Explorer (not File Manager or any other app) in WinME, it will copy ok without WinME kernel patch. Excuse me please, but you said it didn't make sense to patch the WinME kernel32.dll at all : Additionally I was not answering to you specifically and what you now explain to me I know it well enough already if you want to read the few posts I made in this thread.
  3. First hit on google and it is a good one : http://www.easydesksoftware.com/news/news10.htm Also there is this on MS : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q191874 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q191874 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q194679 You'll find genuine copies of 98SE at a decent price on eBay if you need to reinstall, as using a vmm32.vxd from a download or an other computer will probably not do the trick for the reasons explained in the above links.
  4. 6.5.2 is the last version which will work on your OS I believe.
  5. I never use it usually for anything but I have just tried to use winfile.exe to copy a 2GB + file with unpatched WinME kernel32.dll and it does indeed fail.
  6. I have tested your tool in WinME and I get an error dialog with the following message : Issuing_llseek call. As you've read above, I am able to create and copy files bigger than 2GB on that platform. So what is the meaning of failing this test ?
  7. I don't think so as it does not appear there is a problem with WinME. I have just created a 3.8GB archive and copied it over without problems. I have been using Windows ME since a few years in the erroneous belief that it wouldn't handle files over 2GB.
  8. Do you know there is a way to encode in Windows Media 9 on Win98 ? http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=33719
  9. You'll give us some tips as to how to play Quicktime movies (.mov), Real Media videos (.rm, .rmvb), Flash videos (.flv), OggVorbis audio (.ogg), etc... with that.
  10. Reduce that quantity and it's likely you'll be fine again.
  11. How many fonts have you in your font folder ?
  12. How many fonts have you in your fonts folder ?
  13. It looks like you have hijacked not a thread but the entire the forum. I have never seen a thing such as this before.
  14. Maybe you could also add MPG4DS32.AX 7.10.0.3069. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=324178 http://download.microsoft.com/download/win...us/wm324178.exe
  15. asfsipc.dll 1.1.0.3917 in Windows Media Format 7 runtime : http://a1394.g.akamai.net/7/1394/3235/v010...rt/WMFDist7.exe
  16. midi=mmsystem.dll wave=mmsystem.dll
  17. 1) Theoretically up to a total of 2 TB of partitions per disk but as there is the 48bit LBA adressing bug in it, only 128 GB. 2) Yes.
  18. IE 5.5 SP2 on Win ME with Flash 8 and JRE 5.0 Update 7 and no problem to view this page here.
  19. Many antivirus are treating a batch file with a deltree command in it as a virus. Antivir does this as well (or did at some point).
  20. It seems it is the service pack that renders your machine unoperable. Do you tick everything ?
  21. ffdshow-20060505-rev2546.exe is the one I currently use (non SSE). I can't find it anywhere for download ATM. Was on freecodecs.com before the current non SSE build which doesn't install. (A simple mistake with Inno Setup I think) You can easily unpack it with Inno Unpacker though : http://innounp.sourceforge.net/
  22. Successfully tested on WinMe with a 200GB Western Digital Caviar disk and multiple partitions : Thumbs up LLXX !
  23. He could have elaborated just a little a bit at this point IMO by saying where he believes a problem could occur with LLXX patch or what the other code, he thinks needs to be also patched, does.
  24. I don't have this problem with Msvcrt.dll 6.1.9844.0 and Free Ram XP 1.52.
  25. You can't create submenus in the context menu with tweaking the registry. There are quite a few freebies that allow for creating custom entries in a submenu per filetype. Open Expert and Fast Explorer are the best ones IMO.
