  1. How is that possible ? With a normal esdi, 110 GB should display properly, isnt'it ? And from what I grasped anything below 128 GB should behave just as normal with the LLXX patches.
  2. Copy stuff over until you reach this point. I usually do tar nearly 2GB of files and then copy it over until I reach the limit I want. Unfortunately I can't test myself ATM.
  3. I do not have it and I am probably not going to try it because you got that error with it. The Unicode stuff sound interesting but I haven't got the time to look into it ATM. Maybe in a couple of weeks if I am more relaxed. I haven't even looked whether they are addons or patches.
  4. I don't know why you are saying this all the time. If you want to prevent rogue apps to go online, you need one.
  5. I never run systray but I didn't know that one, thanks. Never had a problem unplugging hardware going "blind" though.
  6. I have found MiTeC Delphi Form Editor 5.3 to be most usefull for editing resources of some delphi apps. http://www.mitec.cz/delphitools.htm#DFMEdit VBReformer allows to do a few things with VB executables. http://www.decompiler-vb.tk/ ResEd is a very good resource editor for resource files (not directly for exe) http://www.radasm.com/projects/ResEd.zip Most of what that do exist is listed here I think http://programmerstools.org/taxonomy/term/50
  7. Keep in mind that the current esdi_506.pdr for 98SE is version 4.10.0.2225. When using Norton File Compare there is 7747 differences against version 4.10.0.2222. 22191 differences between 4.10.0.2222 and 4.90.0.3000 (Win ME) 22357 differences between 4.10.0.2225 and 4.90.0.3000 (Win ME) See below for the Windows 98 Large IDE Update which contains the current files for both 98 SE (4.10.0.2225) and FE (4.10.0.2186). http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q243450/ http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloa...ide/Default.asp
  8. I have that version you say installed on my machine but I am unable to trace its origin so far. It's probably from XP's Media Player 8 and must have been installed by a third party multimedia utility of one sort or another. I am using ffdhow.
  9. We all want to here I guess. Well Windows ME in my case as that's what I am using. And don't feel I am saying to you are not welcome here or something because that's not the case at all.
  10. Don't get me wrong either, I am not saying you did it voluntarily. Your are just carried on by your enthusiasm and this is entirely to your credit. Leave all this as is but, yes, open a new thread for it. I think it is the best thing to do.
  11. Please guys don't be too off topic in this thread with your compilation of paks. Create a new one instead please. Your first post was quite spot on with the iPod drivers, cygnus, but I don't think it is the place for carrying on discussing a compilation you made of the packs produced by various members of this forum. It looks more like thread hijacking to me ATM.
  12. If each of those 70 millions of user would give just one dollar each there would be enough money to write security updates for the next fifty years I believe. With 10 dollars each, there would be enough money to write drivers for any new hardware coming up in the next fifty years, including CPU clusters and all that. And still plenty left for cosmetics etc...
  13. There are also files more up to date in it such as mplayer2.exe and of course I have the IE6SP1 setup archive even though I only use IE55SP2. Didn't notice those two fixes were also in it as well.
  14. I have tried it only for Rapidshare but have never been able to succeed dowloading anything with it. It just waits again and again. Certainly I am doing something wrong. Just took 2 x 1,014 bytes from your bandwidth for the filelist that I downloaded twice by mistake BTW.
  15. I am on Win Me and I have removed MP7.1 to only have 6.4 so I can't say about wmpcore.dll. As for msdxm.ocx, it is version 6.4.7.1129 you want to have and not 6.4.7.1128. The package you should use is WindowsMedia-KB832353-x86-ENU.exe and not WindowsMedia-KB828026-x86-ENU.exe By looking into it I see that wmpcore.dll is version 7.10.0.3076. Those files should work with 98SE. You should also update MPG4DS32.AX to at least version 7.10.0.3069 (from WM324178.exe) and dxmasf.dll to 6.4.7.1121 (from WM320920_64.exe or WM308567.exe) and strmdll.dll to 4.1.0.3925 (from WMSU47357.exe) That's only for 6.4 and might not be totally accurate as I might I have missed an update or another. For 7.1 they will yet be some other files to update I believe.
  16. In fact it's timeless who brought him back here. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=76515
  17. Obviously I cannot guarantee it has not been tampered with. It should be part of some recent version of Microsoft® Visual Studio .NET as written in the property sheet. MSVCR70.DLL is also 7.00.9955.0. Where does it come from ? MFC70.DLL 7.00.9955.0 is another one I have of that build number Also there seem to be an MSVCP71.DLL 8.0.21213.0 and an MSVCR71.DLL 8.0.21213.0.
  18. I have uploaded the one I have : http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1152725516/msvci70.dll
  19. Why not also adding msvci70.dll 7.0.9955.0 ?
  20. I just found a new tool to make self-extracting 7z archives out of normal 7z archives that seems more featured than the default tool built in 7-Zip. http://freeweb.siol.net/razor256/xss/ I am not too keen on NSIS installers because they are notoriously difficult if not impossible to unpack. Well I know there is a Total commander plugin who purportedly does it but I don't have Total Commander.
  21. Who should be ? Actually it's not funny at all. Someone's done something that's not good enough for travisowens/relik so he wants to send them death squads to murder them. You should think twice before you post man. Ditch your videogames, gore movies, death metal or gangsta rap cos they don't do you any real good. I guess it gives us a glimpse into how the US troops are actually dealing with Iraqis.
  22. You've got it a bit wrong guys when you say that MS has been fair with it's 98SE/ME customers. Just compare WinME and Win2000, both published the same year. Is support ending for Win2000 ? No it is not. Has the 128 GB LBA adressing bug been fixed for Win 2000 ? Yes with SP3. Has the 128 GB LBA adressing bug ever been fixed for Win ME ? Never. Is there a limitation inherent to the 9x architecture that did prevent MS to fix it ? No there isn't any.
  23. Apart from Scheduled Tasks (C:\WINDOWS\TASKS), those aren't real dirs. They are 100% virtual folders also called namespace extensions. They are all created by one or another dll and injected in the namespace structure : Desktop My Computer Drives The first two are created by Shell32.dll AFAIK. The other two need DUN and Task Scheduler installed respectively to be created and exist I think. When they exist as a CLSID in the registry, even if their icons are removed from the namespace in My Computer, links to them can be created by using folders with special names : Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} My Network Places.{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} Dial-Up Networking.{992CFFA0-F557-101A-88EC-00DD01CCC48} Scheduled tasks.{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} The text is optional. If created with only .{GUID Number}, you'll get working nameless icons. Control Panel can also be launched using the following command : C:\WINDOWS\CONTROL.EXE Not sure any of it is helpfull for what you are doing.
