  1. CE5.0 should most definately be supported in Vista. It happilly connects to my WM2003SE device and syncs everything it can. AFAIK WM2003 and WM2003SE is based around CE4.2 and 4.21, however, they are true Windows Mobile devices.

Can you sync the Neonode using Activesync under XP? If not I don't think it will sync with Vista without the use of 3rd-party apps.

  2. I'm currently dual booting XP and 2k3. But unlike Vista, 2k3 still sees the partition it is on as D: - so it can't be an NTFS problem.

If it really bothers you though, why not go into Disk Management and reallocate the drive letters?

  3. It doesn't require activation on Day 1, you still get a 14 day grace period. As for the cost you can download a full-functional 180-day trial from M$ for free. That way you can get a decent feel for 2003.

  4. Do you have more details? Such as what OSes do you dual boot with?

It shouldn't stop you from upgrading anyway, if you dual boot, single boot or triple boot. But in order to be able to upgrade you have to start the installation from within Windows.

It really is better off doing a clean install anyway. Vista is still in Beta, and its in Beta for a reason. Upgrades are notoriously a major cause of many problems you'll experience.

  5. Erm... can you write in english next time please?

If you are wanting to know whether there will be an SP3 for XP then yes, there is. It is coming out AFTER the release of Windows Vista.

  6. You should notice the change as well to prevent you losing data becasue the "active" HD is indicated by the Windows Flag.

If you ever go back into XP though, you'll notice that the HD locations. revert back to normal

  7. Would this also work on other memory formats such as SD (As long as system supports booting from it?).

I don't have a CF reader - but I got a few SD cards lying around that I'd be willing to try this with.

  8. I am in favour of Microsoft enforcing their piracy policies etc - but this is entirely the wrong way to do it. If it's calling home everyday who says thats the only thing they're checking? What happens if theres a massive security hole in it where other people can see what you've been upto.

Nothing but troubles for M$ if they go ahead with it.

  9. For all you official Beta testers, build 5456 is now available on Connect.

I believe this is the first in the Release Candidate branch of builds.

Downloading now, I'll get some screenshots up when installed.

EDIT: it seems that it is still beta 2, but with alot of bugs squashed.

  10. This Laptop: Dualboot XP MCE 05 and latest Vista builds

(Can run a spare HDD with Mac OS X 10.4.8)

Other laptop: Win98se -OR- Win2000 pro -OR- Win2k3

XBox: xUbuntu, Xebian or Gentoox - not yet decided which one to use.

  11. THERE IS NO F***ING VISTA 5384 THEME AVAILABLE FOR XP!! Vista uses a different scheme to XP so you cannot rip it out. You HAVE to use a 3rd party program if you want the theme. Capiche?

Either that or actually use Vista.

  12. Like gunsmokingman says, boot.ini is only used on the NT5 kernel OSes. BCDEDIT is used in Vista. I think it is located in X:\Windows\System32, but you'll have to double check on that. Just open in the command prompt and edit away, but make a backup first.
