Dels This is a nice project. It loads fast, it uses very little resources. A few little tweaks on the title bar and this will be ready to go public. dirt

Dels this is good stuff . Its just what 2k needed. Good skinning and uses very little ram. I will help where I can.

Pretty good, but only skins title bars and window borders (not the taskbar, or for some reason the title bar of the Task Manager). I tried enabling the option to use "extended skinning", which it says will skin toolbars etc as well, but it didn't seem to do anything. The thicker window border also makes dialog box buttons appear too close to the edge of the window (although you can probably make the borders thinner by editing the skin). It didn't seem to reload on reboot either, despite setting that option. Oh, and I got a weird bug where maximising an explorer window made half of the toolbar transparent so it was just the desktop wallpaper. I'm not complaining, just pointing out the bugs - it is only version 0.1, after all! It does only use 2MB of RAM though, which is impressive, and I can't notice any slowdown - Win2000 really fast even in Virtual PC. I posted link on OSBA this is what they found out

Copy ntldr and ntdetect from 2k3 for even a more noticable improvment over the ones from xp. I am going to work on the other boot delays. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Like you were saying maybe more files from xp or 2k3 will help. BTW those 2 files can be put into the source before the cd is made and will be used when you install the OS

I have 2k server. It is a little larger than 2k pro. If I want to take all the server parts out, how would I search for them? Or should I take the hal and ntkrnl and others and put them in pro?

A better way would ask compaq for a cd media only. They might help you. I have 1 but it is for HP. It wont even install on a different HP, There might be a way to fix this. Hey guys I am not asking for anything shady but is there a fix for my cd?

HMMMM this was fixed in server edition but not in pro. Well maybe some simple dll changes maybe?

At odd times my CPU usage will go up to 100%. And even if I have lots of memory left over I still get a nag. I have 760 mb of ram left out of 1024 and it wont let me play a cd and serf at the same time . I used XP without paging with no problems. 2k would be the bomb if I can get it to boot faster, no nags about page file, and a few other minor things. dirt

Good stuff Now I know how it works

I love windows 2000 but 1 of these is the boot delay where it say loading network settings and so forth. Is there a way to speed up booting in windows 2000? Another thing that bothers me about windows 2000 is even though I am running 1 gb of ram and I set virtual memory to 0, I get a nag box to reset it higher. If I ignore it,windows will reset it automatically. Can I fix this? dirt
