  1. Only one q : - Does it make browsing any slower? i mean will IE search for the site in the whole domain list before givig access to the site n all?
  2. Well if the majority feel this one is better than the Defualt one , no problems then. Even from my view , its much much better than the ones most of the forums have. So no grumbling:)
  3. I did not remove input method editor yet office 2003 updates wont work for me. It has been happening since a pretty loong time . ranging from many versions of nLite and many windows cd. All i can remember is just once was my office able to update itself. I have asked this question separatly in a thread but no help Someone please come up with a solution!!! i do not install the complete office suite though , i leave out quite many stuff. it should not matter i guess. I can update the service pack but not the other!! What should i do?
  4. Wehw , strains my eyes!! are you ok with it?
  5. Ok , after cooling down and seeing what it is like for a day , i have had to change my views and comments. 1. Microsoft have at last shown the users of XP what they intend to do with security in Vista. From being an OS-External app , they have turned their AntiSpyware solution as an OS-internal app. Which is actually , quite better than the previous concept. 2. It no longer shows up in the System tray all the time , its mechanisms are not OS-independent and it really does not look life something different than the Operating System. Giving a feeling that an AntiSpyware protection is a part of the OS is definitely a far more secure protection. It gives the users warning and messages only when some issue or info need to be passed on to the user. Well, that is how the other stuff in windows work , dont they? Pus , it does not update by itself , uses the Windows update mechanism , which once again is cool. 3. Running in the background as a OS-Service means that nearly all the happening do pass through its jurisdiction! Well all i am trying to say is , now it makes me feel more secure than when AntiSpyware used to run and behave like another 3rd Party app. 4. Now to the features and working , definite let down from the AntiSpyware!!! Where are the awsome Advanced feature? BHO's , ActiveX, Browser pages . Well those were the features that kept it a notch above the rest in the Business. 5. They have really turned and scaled it down to be really really simple .It may please the generally "not intrested in the details and advanced info " Worldwide Windows Home users , but what about the Techies and the advanced user? You could have made 2 UIs or display options , Basic and Advanced and let us choose what we wanted!!! 6. Have not been able to test its protection till now , but it displayed its scanning engine pretty foolishly An icon file that is simply absurd and illogical!!!! This is not the security you want to give to the users!!!! 7. Seeing the scaling down of the features in this , I just, dont know from where , started feeling that they are trying to build up the market for OneCare. Previously the AntiSpyware worked so well , that it nearly made even an antiVirus not that important , belive me , i had only the AntiSpyware running since it was launched , and never did i face any virus attack. Though trojans tried to attack me a few times , AntiSpyware was brilliant in safegaurding me. Now , this may have just dented the prospects of OneCare , and maybe thats the reason we are seeing a simpler Windows Defender. Definitely a mean trick if thats what they intend to do 8. All in All , not bad concept , not bad working. Just need to improve the Scanning engine and lets hope, the feature of AntiSpyware are back

  8. Nope that feature has been done away with , loads of people shouted against it. Actually i hav started loving the layout and the features now . I see it growing popular like Version 7 slowly. Looks good now . Nice features. Integration with other windows programmes shall be made better. So shal be quite usefull!!!
  9. Hello mods , Just came to my notice that we do not even have the default IPB skin. that skin is pretty simple and good looking. It makes reading simpler also. If not for the color skins , can we have that one? I know this topic has come up nearly every month , but instead of unique skins , i am putting forward a request for The default IPB 2.1 skin!
  10. Well paying heed to the feedback they recieved for the Windows Live Messenger build 365 , Microsoft has released a beta refresh to a select few of the previous testers. I got my email today . A small changelog of sort was also there in the mail Lets wait to see when you people get your mail and then we can discuss the release. I have not yet tested it in detail. But the UI seems better than before . will test the other stuff soon . Here are a few screenshots :- They are completely genuine , if anyone gets any doubts because of the screenshots , then let me make it clear that i took them from Gadwin Printscreen . These are the shots i got and i had selected only the client screen so no wallpapers n stuff.

  13. Longhorn is lively . OSX looks nice but lil too soft.
  14. Well , simply put up , only fools would want this feature. Even i wont let them catch my files and let the Government read them with the help of a easily available warrant. All i am saying is, they do not steal your files. Stealing is without you knowledge , Whereas here they are catching it with your permission. I guess thats the end of the Convo. We both not gonna use it , so why fight over it. *sighs
  15. Well there intentions are quite clear. They shall keep a copy of you files on their servers. Log in to the Desktop search from anywhere and search your own files. In a way like there catching feature of the web search. Pity the law is so weak in this case
  16. Here is my desktop and some other screenshots Could not get my Transparency into the screenshot but still not that bad i guess
  17. Has any body got the 0562 Beta refresh invitation from Microsoft?
  18. Hey would be unfair to say they steal your files , thay are just catching those files for you if you want the feature to search through them from any computer. The only problem is the law is pretty weak for such a feature to work as it is intended . Although from there part they are not wrong , Google , they just want to make your searching flexible . And they are also not going to do it without your permission!!
  19. LOL but got to admit that it is one of the Microsoft Products that actually works as Anti Migraine . Helps ease the head ache of updating!
  20. bought a new PC just a few months back. Not worried about vista , Shall be running smoothly on AMD athlon 64 3000+ with onboard ATI xpress 200. But i guess all the PCs of today are nearly 3 years old , SO by the time vista comes out , it is really time people upgrade their comps!!!

  22. Well Well , Seems thay have heard about the UI stuff. A complete new refresh , Build 0562 has been released. Yet to recieve my email. Will post screenshots and info soon from some other source.
  23. No , that just is not google . Microsoft does that , and google has always been on the other side. They shall not make it a paid service . I remember they coming into this email business saying they shall change the current scenario , and paid services is an old one. Google wont be doing that. Not even heard of it before. Where did you read it? Show us some source.
