  1. Today i've tested Vmware player on Windows Vista 6003. Here are the results: (I used an old Windows Vista virtual machine that had no updates installed) First I installed Vmware player 6.0.4, than KB4493458 (not KB4493471). Hal.dll got upgraded to version 6003. After the installation had finished i launched a ready Windows ME virtual machine inside the Vista VM: It worked with no visible errors. I left it running for a few minutes and everything seemed fine. Of course I still don't know if it works on real hardware and all the updates between Vista EOL and KB4493458 installed. On boot an "The "vmStatsProvider" can not be initialized. "vmGuestLib" returns error "VMware Guest API is not enabled on the host" (3)." error gets logged, but this is likely because i'm running one virtual machine inside another.
  2. Good point, I'll edit the main post.
  3. A phone's battery was charged to 50% of its capacity. Would you call it empty or full ? It's fine. Maybe let's leave this topic as it is and concentrate on more important things.
  4. This information was added on 31 August 2021 https://betawiki.net/index.php?title=Windows_Vista_build_6003&oldid=153735 I understand that it might look suspicious when someone's first post looks like mine . In my opinion the extended kernel should target Windows Vista with 6003 and SHA-2 updates but without KB4341832, KB4090450 and KB4089229 - meltdown/spectre patches that slow down the CPU. Also, I have an AMD Ryzen PC so if @win32 decides to make a patch for Ryzen problems I can test it and send some logs.
  5. 1. The information about this driver was somehow posted here, so the answer went here as well. 2. I downloaded the driver from the Softpedia link you have posted on this forum. It is Acer branded and it does contain Vista-signed driver. 3. It's totally not your fault that this driver doesn't work and i'm not accusing you of anything here. (How could you know that a 1050TI driver signed for Vista doesn't work with 1050TI on Vista) Your post was indeed very useful. My theory here is that it works only with some very early (if not prototype) 1050TIs and older GPUs. 4. At least pls let us know your Siemens notebook model so we can buy that notebook and/or the driver. 5. IMO it might have been fixed as this update was intended for Server 2008 only. It is also possible that Microsoft fixed this unintentionally by updating the HAL files 6. I would also recommend removing Windows Defender.
  6. Hi, 1. As you may know Microsoft doesn't always document what they do. For example Microsoft articles about this update say nothing about files that this update changes. If we trust only the Microsoft's official statements than we should follow the guidelines showed here: https://support.microsoft.com/en/help/22882/windows-vista-end-of-support :) 2. 2 users have already tested this and said that this update (partially) solves Haswell+ problems. 3. I said "According to" meaning I don't know if that information is correct. I posted it here to encourage someone to verify it (as i cannot do it myself). 4. If this information turns out to be fake anyway, I'll do this and i don't need moderator's help. I really don't want to argue here.
  7. I have just installed the driver on Windows Vista and it doesn't work. I haven't tried modifying the driver yet but it's signed for Vista and it shouldn't need that. Adding the GPU's hardware ID to the inf file didn't help either. :(
  8. @Dixel Hi, I tried installing the 373.19 driver for Vista/7/8 on my Windows 7 PC for now and it looks like the 'Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050TI' driver is not compatible with my Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050TI GPU. The popup says that 'It's not recommended to install this diver, because Windows cannot determinate if it's compatible with the owned hardware. If its not compatible, than...' (translated). This most likely means that the hardware IDs are not consistent.
  9. This is just what i've said but I don't have Haswell+ hardware so i can't test it myself.
  10. Hi everyone, According to: https://betawiki.net/wiki/Windows_Vista_build_6003, Microsoft has already solved Haswell+ problems in the 6003 update. EDIT: So far 2 people reported, that that this update reduces the occurrence frequency of Haswell+ bugs, but i doesn't solve them completely. More data is needed to make sure it's not just placebo effect. EDIT1: https://msfn.org/board/topic/180750-would-an-amd-ryzen-7-1800x-work-on-windows-vista/page/5/ EDIT2: Dixel tested this on multiple Haswell motherboards and reported that this information is fake. The discussion has been moved into a new topic
