Hi. I use a powerful extension "Canvas Blocker" by Korbinian Kapsner. Latest version 1.5 (Jan 18, 2021). https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/releases To install, you need to open the file \canvasblocker-1.5-an+fx.xpi\manifest.json in the notepad and replace the string "strict_min_version": "68.0" to "strict_min_version": "52.0" -

Hello, roytam1. Have you thought about forking Tor Browser 7.5.6? This is the latest version for WinXP and based on Firefox 52.9.0 ESR. TB is still in demand for bypassing censorship. Thanks again for your work. -
VirtualBox 5.2.44 and 6.0.24 works fine on WinXP host. For install 6.0.24 need: 1. download https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/6.0.24/VirtualBox-6.0.24-139119-Win.exe 2. run "VirtualBox-6.0.24-139119-Win.exe -extract -path=c:\temp" for extract x86 msi-file (path c:\temp for example). 3. run msi-file from c:\temp Also available custom builds 5.2.44 and 6.0.24 without hardening - https://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=5&topic=49006&start=2160#17 (by CaptainFlint).

Hello roytam1. Have you thought about forking Tor Browser 7.5.6? This is the latest version Tor Browser for WinXP. TB 7.5.6 is based on FF 52.9 ESR. For example, may add support for TLS 1.3 and compatible security patches. TB is still in demand for bypassing censorship. Thanks again for your work. -

All versions Adobe Flash Player newer than 32.0.0.371 contain a time-bomb. After 12-Jan-2021 local SWF-files does not playback. The latest working version is 32.0.0.371. Use a virtual machine to check. Install the Adobe Flash Player and set the clock to January 2021. -

Another option is to use the built-in WinXP VPN client. Create a new connection using free PPTP or L2TP servers. For example - http://www.nlfreevpn.com/ https://freevpn.me/accounts/ https://www.vpnbook.com/#pptpvpn -

1.17.4 very old release (Dec 2018) and it does not correctly handle current rules in filters. There is no point in using 1.17.4 on FF 52, Palemoon, Basilisk and other Gecko/Goanna browsers. RU AdList author & maintainer said (Google translated): "... uBlock Origin v1.17.4 is basically incompatible with FF 52.9, like any other Gecko versions of Firefox. As I recall, it drops 100% of the scriptlet rules ..." Specially for Gecko / Goanna browsers, there is a separate uBO 1.16.4.xx branch, which the author (gorhill) maintains in an up-to-date state. Latest version 1.16.4.18 was released Feb 17, 2020.

I have Thinkpad T42 with 2200BG card and WinXP Pro SP3 (POSready updates up to May 2019). Driver version 9.0.4.37. Wi-Fi works stably. The problem of working wi-fi cards on Intel chips (including 2200BG) is associated with the KB4089694 update. If you installed update KB4089694, remove it in the usual way. This should solve the problem. Post on forum.ru-board: https://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=62&topic=30840&start=180#16 Google translated: "... Today I checked Wi-Fi again after installing update KB4089694 on 2 laptops Acer1692, Acer1694. The lack of Internet access was confirmed. Removed KB4089694, rebooted - Wi-Fi restored. Perhaps this malfunction appears only with certain types of Wi-Fi adapters. In both cases, the card type is Intel (R) PRO / Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, driver version 9.0.4.39, the system is everywhere WinXP Pro original and licensed, until KB4089694 was released and previous updates were installed, I did not have problems with Internet access via Wi- Fi ...".

My Browser Builds (Part 2)
Dr. Drill replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hi, roytam1! Maybe you know why upstream broke DRM support? I have the Widevine CDM plugin version 1.4.9.1088 installed. But in the last build Serpent, the plugin disappeared in the section about:addons -> Plugins. Plugin files are located in \profile\gmp-widevinecdm\1.4.9.1088\ and in about:config the following parameters are set: media.gmp-provider.enabled = true media.gmp-widevinecdm.version = 1.4.9.1088 media.gmp-widevinecdm.autoupdate = false media.gmp-widevinecdm.enabled = true media.gmp-widevinecdm.forceSupported = true media.gmp-widevinecdm.visible = true To check the DRM demo, I went to the site https://drm.axinom.com/bitmovin-and-unified-streaming/ and saw the message "Your browser does not support DRM. Try again with PlayReady or Widevine enabled browser." At the same time, the following lines appeared in the browser console (Ctrl+Shift+J): Checking Widevine support. Checking PlayReady support. PlayReady not supported. MediaKeySystemAccess::GetKeySystemStatus(com.widevine.alpha) result=cdm-not-installed msg='CDM is not installed' Widevine not supported. navigator.requestMediaKeySystemAccess promise rejected 0x80530009 'Gave up while waiting for a CDM update' No checked DRM not supported: Error: Can't get fulfillment value from any promise, all promises were rejected. In the previous Serpent build, the Widevine CDM plugin was available and worked. Serpent will no longer support DRM?
