  1. I don't recommend to install them. I've found installer packages on Github page of the project and installed them, but it doesn't appear to run any unsupported software. I tried to run Chrome and Firefox (the versions that was already running on XP) with changing the compatibility to Vista and 7 but they were crashed. (It adds new OSes to Compatibility tab)
  2. I always end that process because I thought it was not necessary to run Windows or any programs. (did the same for spoolsv.exe) And does simply removing it prevents the vulnerability or do I need to do something else?
  3. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything related to your hardware/OS. But you can try these: PROBLEM: Interface panels and buttons may disappear or turn a solid blue color. CARDS: GeForce 4 series This is a known bug in some older drivers (before version 6177). Upgrading to the latest manufacturer's drivers will resolve this. FORCED ANTI-ALIASING: Sims 2 will have graphical problems if anti-aliasing is forced on in display properties. To fix this: * Right click on your windows desktop and select Properties. * Choose the Settings tab and press the Advanced button. * Select the GeForce tab. * Select Performance and Quality settings from the left menu. * Switch Anti-aliasing settings to Application Controlled. PROBLEM: Game crashes soon after starting. Some recent NVIDIA drivers have problems when running when Hyperthreading is enabled on your processor. Try updating your driver first. If this doesn't help, turning off Hyperthreading in your BIOS will workaround this issue. If you have no idea what Hyperthreading or BIOS is, it's probably not worth messing around with this stuff. Contact your video card manufacturer for assistance. Have you tried running it in windowed mode? To do so, create a shortcut of The Sims 2 and add -w at the end of the Target. You can also try to run it at "generic" resolution such as 640x480 or 800x600, so add -r800x600 or -r640x480 to the end of Target of Shortcut. I can also recommend RivaTuner to tweak the graphics card's settings to trying to fix the problem. I've used a system with Pentium 4 2.66 GHz and FX 5500 with Windows XP to run this game, and it ran perfectly. So sorry for not providing more help to you.
  4. Could you send me the readme.txt, as far as I remember there were some FAQ and answering the issues with some hardware/drivers.
  5. Thunderbird themes are way to go. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/themes/ Sorry, but it seems this site doesn't have "Spoiler" option:
  6. Thank you so much @FranceBBfor porting 2.3.1. But there's one little problem (I hope it's the only one)... It's supposed to show names of plugins instead of "filenames". I hope you will take a look at this.
  7. Thanks, the first one worked, in Vista, but I think it will work on XP too. (The old version gave an error on Vista too, but it was about mozglue.dll.)
  8. Nope, I'm using Pentium 4 524 which has SSE,SSE2 and SSE3 instructions. Do I need to enable No Execute (NX)?
  9. Hello, I've downloaded palemoon-27.6.0a1.win32-git-20170929-bc251e93-xpmod.7z from https://o.rths.cf/palemoon/. But when I open palemoon.exe, this error appears: (Unknown software expection occured in .... Press OK to terminate the application Press Cancel to debug the application)
  10. You don't need to run the installer. Just open it with 7-Zip, extract the chrome.7z, and unpack the 7z file! Also User Data will be created in its folder, kinda portable!
  11. Thanks It's about definition updates, maybe anyone get interested... or some Server 2008 hacks are allowing it to update itself? I'll post it if it's not, this method also works with XP! Edit: Sorry people, it doesn't work anymore. I've tried with latest updates and nope.
  12. Sorry, don't ask me for Vista programs (yes, I think you wouldn't either), because I'm upgrading to Win7. I will try to make this PC as my music editing/old gaming (so 7/XP dualboot) machine, and some software requires Windows 7 to run. And I think I used it with a period correct PC, Intel Pentium 4 524 3.06 GHz (overclocked to 3,63 GHz) 2006 ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512 MB AGP 2007 1.5 GB RAM (Should be high for early 2007) It was good, but I don't know would it run same with RTM version.
