  1. It'll be about a gig in size!
  2. The only thing I could find was a registry entry found at the link below. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
  3. Adding a batch script to the install files would work also.
  4. XP cant see the C: drive because it has loaded the fat32 file system. During text setup, XP only loads 1 file system. To get around it, boot from the cd. XP will load the ntfs file system & you should be able to see both drives.
  5. Make sure your anti virus is up to date and run a scan. Check event viewer for errors.
  6. xunil76's technique is a good one, I would add exporting the registry to it so you don't have to reinstall anything. Also the My documents folder can be moved so you don't have to copy anything back. Using sysprep is not necessary here I think, if you uninstall the critical drivers (system, ide & display), Windows will default back to generic drivers until specific ones can be installed.

  8. Yes, that's the default name for an XP installation, you can alter one of them by editing the C:\boot.ini file.
  9. Are you sure you're pressing it at the right point in the setup? As setup is starting there are a couple of prompts it goes through, which are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Pressing F6 correctly will not do anything right away, once it has loaded necessary files you will be given the option of specifying additional devices, this is where you need to have a disk ready to load drivers from.
  10. I'll assume you're using IE. You can use group policy to restrict file downloads that are not initiated by the user. Open the policy editor and browse to computer configuration > administrative templates > windows components > internet explorer > security features > restrict file download I'm not sure if this achieves what you're looking for, but I didn't find a way to restrict user initiated downloads.
  11. Have you tried mapping it using the map network drives option in windows explorer?
  12. XP doesn't support mirroring natively. Also, do you mean 5 seperate disks & not 5 partitions?
  13. If it's not showing in start > control panel > user accounts try this way.. Right click my computer > manage > local users & groups > users. See if you can delete the old account from there.
  14. Can you get the printer to print a test page?
  15. Put the command into a batch file then put that into the startup folder. Welcome to the forum
  16. I'm not aware of any battery error messages.
  17. Perhaps the battery is not providing enough power to the CMOS for it to maintain its settings and is becoming corrupt. Putting in a new battery should fix it.
  18. I note from your HT log that you are running StyleXP, is it an updated version? It was listed on this page as having problems with SP2. Otherwise I can only suggest it is a problem with your HOSTS file being corrupt.
  19. right click my computer > properties > advanced > startup & recovery settings > uncheck "automatically restart" A system failure somewhere has caused it, you may be able to find out what in the event viewer.
  20. You can create limited user accounts & set a local group policy.
  21. Diskpart scripting
  22. Blaster virus perhaps? http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1831.html
  23. It's likely that the file directory is corrupt, having been given the run-around by windows about the size of the disk. Using the tools I linked to may be the only option.
  24. Thay may be because XP is using the PATA drive as the boot device. Try this... 1. on the PATA drive, delete the boot.ini file 2. Power down & remove the PATA drive. 3. You should now be able to install XP on the RAID array. 4. When complete, power down again and re-insert the PATA drive. 5. XP will configure the PATA drive as secondary. Hope this helps.
