  1. KB40414580 was actually a security update and rollup update for Net framework 2 SP2 and not 3.5 SP1 to avoid confusion.
  2. I am currently running Firefox 52.0.1 (32 bit) on Windows XP SP3. I have cleartype enabled in the control panel. I have not noticed any difference in the display of Firefox since upgrading from version 51 to version 52 if that is any help? Possibly something unique with your configuration?
  3. Thank you for this information, I'll give it a try. Sounds reasonable to me. If it doesn't work, I can always restore the registry with a backup.
  4. I too have experienced this exact certificate security alert. It always appears when I receive e mails with photos of products from a music dealer I buy from in Germany. Each photo on the e mail, when loading, displays this alert. If I click yes, the photo is NOT displayed in the e mail and another alert appears for the next photo.....this continues until all the photos are presented. The e mail is in HTML format and I am using Outlook Express version 6.00.2900
  5. Dave-H I have Word 2000 installed on my XP SP3 machine and continually get office updates. Windows Update installed the compatability pak and I get all the office updates. No other Microsoft Office products are installed!! Is this not strange?
  6. I went through the BSOD error two or three times over the past several months. Just pops up, nothing consistent......no particular job or action prior to. I ran mem test three different times leaving it run overnight with over a dozen passes and no errors in RAM. I opened the box and checked all my connections and gave everything a good cleaning. After that, I have been free from the error (fingers crossed). Most times, this error can be related to recent hardware changes, bad or corrupted drivers and, most often corruption in memory. I've read that bad connections have been known to cause the problem as well, so that is why I rechecked my connections and cleaned everything. Is this the first time you've received the error, or is this something that has been repeated? One final tip, run scannow to check your system files and also chk disk for any errors on your drive.
  7. Wow.....after checking for updates I was given the big "NO CRITICAL UPDATES AVAILABLE". I rushed right over here to see what was happening and see I'm "good"!! I did check the catalog update page at Microsoft for POS ready before running my windows update and there were no updates showing there. I just assumed they hadn't been posted yet. There is also an update for Adobe Reader XI which I installed on my Windows XP system. I've never had any problems installing or using it, so I keep updating as they become available. Also got the flash updates so I guess I'm "up to date"!!!
  8. It's not necessary to enter an IP address. I opened the program and clicked "scan" and it went right work. Took about 3-4 minutes downloading data and scanning. Results of the scan were posted for review after that. When finished, review the findings which, in my case included POS ready updates as well.
  9. Gentlemen, thank you for the information concerning the reappearing KB2756918 update. As suggested by by Dave-H, I ran Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor v2.3 which did report the missing update for .net version 3 (KB2756918). Following the suggestion to reinstall KB2973115, I did in fact reinstall this update. I then ran the MBSA once again which reported everything was secure and up to date. Upon rebooting, no prompt to install KB2756918. Thanks to all...........
  10. I've tried finding both of the aforementioned .net rollup downloads and haven't had any success. Can anyone direct me to the source to download these .net updates?
  11. Even though Windows update offered .NET updates to me during the July update Tuesday, it certainly would be wonderful to have a complete list to refer to. It would be a source to verify all updates have been applied!
  12. Back to the issue of version 11.0.17 of Adobe Reader and Windows XP, I can report that the first time I launched Adobe Reader I received the error message reported previously. However, on subsequent launches, everything has performed in a normal manner, so I am experiencing no problems using Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.17 on my Windows XP sp3 system!!
  13. Dave, I read your post with great interest. I experienced a similiar problem with both Firefox and Internet Explorer a few weeks back and through trial and error, determined that Kaspersky Anti Virus was the culprit. I lowered Heuristic Analysis from Medium level to low and that solved the problem. I have encountered another problem with Firefox versions 46 and higher on Windows XP. The loading of web pages has become very sluggish and smooth scrolling is no longer occurring. I have to revert to version 45.0.2 in order to have the pages load quickly and scroll smoothly. It is very noticeable on web sites such as Facebook for example. I have experimented with version 47 as well with no success. I filed a bug report with Mozilla and posted on their support forum, but, no response as of this time. I was curious if anyone else is experiencing any issues with Firefox and Windows XP page loading? I use it as my primary browser.
  14. Exactly what I got about 10 minutes ago.....All has gone well and I have been running the machine through it's paces to check that everything is running up to par
  15. I echo Dave-H's response....everything here working fine and I have all the updates installed. Windows XP SP3 with POSReady 2009 updates. I too put the dog down long long ago.
  16. I just read a blog this morning that caught my attention concerning EMET v 4.1 Seems one of the security firms has identified vulnerabilities with EMET that we should take note of. Read the report at this link: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3037009/security/attackers-can-turn-microsofts-exploit-defense-tool-emet-against-itself.html This may be just enought to motivate me to move to MBAE
  17. I discovered that when using EMET 4.1, It was necessary to disable deep hooks under the application settings. Otherwise, IE8 and firefox would not launch. Once the deep hooks were disabled, everything proceeded as normal.
  18. Just a note for anyone running Kaspersky antivirus 2016 and EMET 4.1. I ran into an issue where none of my browsers would launch when both software were installed. The work around is to make sure that "enable deep hooks" is not checked in the application settings section of EMET 4.1
  19. Thank you so much for posting. I was just on my way to search for any possible ASP.net updates and decided to check the forum first!
  20. I had no issues with the latest Windows XP updates. The web site was working correctly and installed 5 updates: 2 for office 2007 1 cummulative update for IE 8 1 security update for POS ready 1 malicious software for October Everything working perfectly..............
  21. Received two updates this morning........Internet Explorer 8 security update and update to Windows related to daylight savings time. Both installed and system functioning normally.
  22. Same experience here.....................Windows XP home SP3 and Windows Professional SP3
  23. Not working for me as well.....I get the same response "404-File or directory not found"
  24. I have successfully installed all the recommended NET updates described above on my Windows XP Home X86 machine and everything is humming along like a "well oiled machine". No problems what so ever!! Thank you all for the important information provided as I did not suspect these updates were not being applied through windows update on a monthly basis.
  25. Although I just registered today, I have been following this thread for quite sometime. Yesterday afternoon, I went to Microsoft update and viewed the security updates posted for my operating system, Windows XP home, that were available, although I did not download and install them. I wanted to wait until I could read the knowledge base notes on what was being installed. This morning, my machine had automatically downloaded the updates and I then was able to review the knowledge base notes prior to installing. All the updates were installed and I then began testing to see if any conflicts or problems were detected. So far, everything has went smoothly and it appears all is well. I had previously installed the unofficial update to repair the jagged fonts. After installing the updates, I checked the windows directory and observed that the win32k.sys file version has been updated to 5.1.2600.6755 dated February 26, 2015. To answer the question posed earlier, yes, I had the unofficial update installed, the new update has updated the win32k.sys file on my machine.
