  1. Developers don't truly care about market share per se, they care more about moving forward. Windows XP has more market share than all of the Mac OS X versions COMBINED, but developers have decided to focus on the future. It's that simple. https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0 and http://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share
  2. I don't believe you'll receive the end of support warning on Server 2008. Server 2008 shares the Vista kernel, i.e. NT 6.0. However, extended support for Server 2008 ends on January 14, 2020, the same day as Windows 7.
  3. It depends on the date that you choose. Naturally these files grow over time as the threats increase in number and complexity. I downloaded a definitions file from Christmas 2010 and it was 58.7MB: https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20101224185315/http://download.microsoft.com/download/DefinitionUpdates/mpam-fe.exe
  4. Mo Did you try the links I posted? I confirmed that they work. Please substitute for the following links, click on any snapshot and the file will be served immediately. 6. Something I did before worked, I will have to look into it later. http://sdfox7.com/xp/files/IMG_5365.PNG
  7. It opens correctly on my iPhone. I'll have to try again on a desktop system later. http://sdfox7.com/xp/files/IMG_5366.PNG
  8. You have to plug the link into the Internet Archive, aka Wayback Machine. https://web-beta.archive.org/web/*/https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/definitions/adl.aspx
  9. Dave I have NEVER been a fan of ClearType. Internet Explorer 7 came with it enabled it by default, I never enabled it in the XP operating system, and I don't want it in my Firefox browser.
  10. As requested, I placed the Adobe Primetime Content Decryption Module in my FTP on 2/1: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp3/EOL/primetime_gmp_win_x86_gmc_40673.zip
  11. Developers don't realize that by dropping operating system support, they cause the old software live a lot longer than they expect. It's actually the opposite effect than intended. Internet Explorer 8, the final version to run on XP and Server 2003, is still the second most used version behind Internet Explorer 11. Chrome 49, the final version to run on XP and Vista, is still in the top 10 for most used browsers: https://www.netmarketshare.com/browser-market-share.aspx?qprid=2&qpcustomd=0 You can't expect people to upgrade at the drop of a hat, just because you tell them to!
  12. Audacity 2.1.3 was released on March 17, 2017, and is the final version officially supported on Windows XP: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/#sysreq I have already archived in the /xp end-of-life directory for your convenience: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp3/EOL/audacity-win-2.1.3.exe
  13. Heinoganda I understand what you are saying. I was trying to say that changing the values from "-1" to "2" is supposed to force GDI classic and disable ClearType. If I don't receive any feedback I will submit a bug to Mozilla.
  14. The USP will bring some system components up to date, but you'll still need Service Pack 4 and the Security Rollup for Service Pack 4 for other missing system components. The USP is only around 40MB-50MB, and is missing updates available in the updates I mentioned. You can get the updates from the Internet Archive aka WayBack Machine utilizing the links on my page here: http://sdfox7.com/win2ksp.htm You may also find my thread from December interesting: Firefox 48.0.2 and Flash Player 24 working on Windows 2000
  15. Firefox 52.x defaults to ClearType. Changing the about:config values from default -1 to 2, and from true to false, is supposed to force GDI rendering in Firefox, but Firefox is still displaying ClearType in the interface and on webpages. Any suggestions? Perhaps it is a bug. The menus and webpages should have "unsmoothed" appearance similar to this:
  16. The latest Silverlight 5.1.50905 still working on XP. Released March 14, 2017. Required for Netflix and other sites if you're not using HTML5. https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/locale/en-us/html/Microsoft Silverlight Release History.htm#SL_5_1_50905
  17. It's about two months late, but I have discovered that Google released a bug fix for Google Earth 7.1.x that I referenced earlier in this thread. I did not know that 7.1.x was still receiving updates. Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 has been released, and it runs on both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard (different binaries). Older systems should use the older 6.2.x branch (6.2.2.6613). The installer is available here: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en (direct link here) Release notes are available here: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/40901?hl=en&ref_topic=4363014 I received a message during install that KML and KMZ files needed to be associated to Earth, but that was all.
  18. Thanks win2kreviver, fixed

  20. I wasn't aware Oracle was being sued by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) due to "allegedly deceptive claims about the security of Java SE": https://www.java.com/en/uninstall/attachmentA.xml
  21. Latest versions of WinRar 5.40 and 7-Zip 16.04 are working on XP SP3 (not tested on < SP2):
  22. According to the changelog there were "Touch friendly popups which make it easier to interact with". https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34509/what-s-new-in-skype-for-windows-desktop It's possible that the pop-ups were not tested on XP, or that the Skype client itself was not tested on XP (very likely). Further complicating matters is that XP doesn't natively support touchscreens per se. Using software created by Microsoft could be problematic these days, specifically since they dropped XP support; they have no incentive to make the experience on XP enjoyable.
  23. Stable Flash Player version 24.0.0.221 has been released (Patch Tuesday) Internet Explorer: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/24.0.0.221/install_flash_player_ax.exe Firefox: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/24.0.0.221/install_flash_player.exe Chrome: install_flash_player ppapi.exe
