Here ya go! With Opaque Taskbar!
-
Uh, why would you want to use start is back? Are you trying to live in 1995? This is 2014, we don't need a start button anymore.

Thank you Big Muscle! My desktop is looking most excellant!
-
Where is the link for this new update? The website still shows v1.2.1 Just saw NoelC's post. I will do what he did.
-
This may have been suggested before, but I would really like to see translucent ribbon in this OldNewExplorer.
-
Or you can use Opaque Taskbar from Winaero.com.

Nobody forces you to use it. No, it cannot. His reason is much more paranoid, he's afraid that some dark power can replace DWMGlass.dll with some malicious file and thus he's making the scenes. Yes, of course, this happen, but the probability is rather theoretical. That's why I already said if someone worries about it, he will probably install this software into some secure folder (or at least change the folder permissions on his own) and not the into user folder (and no, I didn't meant C:\Users as he stated but any folder with "Authenticed Users" write privilege). He completely ignored this and still continues with shouting how Aero Glass is unsecure and harmful to your computer - you can even notice the form of his posts, he's creating new and new and still around edit his existing posts. And if I respond to someone else (and not to him), he starts blaming me from lying etc. He just wants to attract attention. I have nothing more to say to this. All of this discussion is very bizarre to me. I have used bigmuscle's AeroGlass for a good while now, and have been extremely pleased with it. People that don't like it should just not use it, or create their own. I would gladly donate to bigmuscle except for the fact that my wife is on disability, and I am her caretaker, so money is extremely tight. I eagerly anticipate the next version that you are working on, bigmuscle, and will gladly install it!

This used to be such a good forum, until it was hijacked by trolls.

Thank you for condolences. I am sorry I can't help you any further with your issue. You may want to create a free account at beyondwindows9.com as they have some real tech gurus there who may help. There is also a VIP membership for sale (real cheap.) It may be worth your while. I would try that forum though. I have had some real issues, and received excellent results.

You might be better off just to use a program to create a vhd from a physical drive. Or you can do a fresh installation on the vhd. I am sure you thought of that, but unless you are really trying to solve this problem it might be the easiest and quickest approach.
-
If you are running Windows installed normally, and you have a vhd which is on your hard drive, then you just mount it from your normal OS. I use EasyBCD, and then open it, and assign the new vhd to the boot menu.
-
Why would you want to go back to a start menu when you have a whole d@mn start SCREEN?

Read this. http://www.johnpapa.net/bootoffmetal/

I have the new debug .dll that bigmuscle just uploaded. I installed it according to HIS instructions, and removed the Symbols folder. Here is what it looks like. No issues as far as I can tell.
-
Are you installing to 32-bit Windows? I am using 64-bit.
-
That is why I read this forum. I constantly find good information.
-
If it is not there it would definitely make sense to create it! Obviously you want AeroGlass to work with battery.
-
HKey_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\DisableGlassOnBattery 0x1 = When your AC power is unplugged and computer is running on the battery then the blur effect will be disabled to decrease power consumption 0x0 = blur effect won't be disabled on battery It is very clear. Nowhere in bigmuscle's guide did he say to put DisableGlassOnBattery D-Word in HKey_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\
-
According to your screenshots, you should read the guide again. Yea, I don't see ANY AeroGlass in either! This is AeroGlass:
-
This does work, except that cmd window remains open as in previous experimental builds. I removed symbols folder, and renamed dwmglass.dll file from version 1.2.1, placed dwmglass.dll from spring2014 folder into AeroGlass folder, logged out, then back in, and all worked. But, I do believe I will wait for a more final release. Thank you bigmuscle!
-
Thank you for this wonderful program BigMuscle! I have used it in the many VMWare installs of various Windows 8.1 Update 1 variations including Server 2012 R2 with update. I just copy the symbols folder into the Aeroglass folder, run your installation file, and it works every time without fail!

I would like to install the Windows XP Internet Games in Windows 8.1. I can do this on Windows 7 with the following registry edit. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppID\{73CFF131-CA3B-4654-9640-0F50B3ABA521}]@="zClientm" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{55A8CF81-2C24-41F1-95BC-798E93CBB256}]@="IZoneProxy" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{55A8CF81-2C24-41F1-95BC-798E93CBB256}\ProxyStubClsid]@="{00020424-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{55A8CF81-2C24-41F1-95BC-798E93CBB256}\ProxyStubClsid32]@="{00020424-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{55A8CF81-2C24-41F1-95BC-798E93CBB256}\TypeLib]@="{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}""Version"="1.0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Zone.ClientM]@="Zone Class" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Zone.ClientM\CLSID]@="{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Zone.ClientM\CurVer]@="Zone.ClientM.1" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}]@="Zone Class""AppID"="{73CFF131-CA3B-4654-9640-0F50B3ABA521}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\LocalServer32]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\zclientm.exe" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\ProgID]@="Zone.ClientM.1" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\TypeLib]@="{7A26EA67-A78A-4b89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\VersionIndependentProgID]@="Zone.ClientM" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0]@="zClientM 1.0 Type Library" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\0] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\0\win32]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\zclientm.exe" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\FLAGS]@="1" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\HELPDIR]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}]@="Zone Class""AppID"="{73CFF131-CA3B-4654-9640-0F50B3ABA521}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\LocalServer32]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\zclientm.exe" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\ProgID]@="Zone.ClientM.1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\TypeLib]@="{7A26EA67-A78A-4b89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{855B6281-563C-4462-8C6D-5326CA1D4FE4}\VersionIndependentProgID]@="Zone.ClientM" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0]@="zClientM 1.0 Type Library" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\0] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\0\win32]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\zclientm.exe" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\FLAGS]@="1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{7A26EA67-A78A-4B89-A5E2-ED7EE09EC08A}\1.0\HELPDIR]@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSN Gaming Zone\\Windows\\" But it will not work on Windows 8.1. Does anyone have any suggestions?
