  3. There is no such thing as 98SE2MP10.If you are referring to 98SEMP10... 98SE2ME is completely different than 98SE2XP or 98SEMP10 or 98MP10. Please see the readme text files for details on what each one does: 98SE2ME: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/READ1ST.TXT 98MP10: http://www.mdgx.com/98mp10/98MP10.TXT 98SE2XP: http://www.mdgx.com/982xp/98SE2XP.TXT 98SEMP10: http://www.mdgx.com/98mp10/98SEMP10.TXT HTH [Hope This Helps]
  4. Just list here which patches you want to translate, and I'll send you [or post here if not too large] the SED files you need.HTH
  5. This is WinME shell32.dll, not 98/98SE shell32.To my knowledge WinME shell32 does not exhibit that bug. That bug is specific strictly to 98/98SE shell32.dll updates 4.72.3812.600 + 4.72.3812.620: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#PSBF Therefore patching not necessary for WinME. HTH
  6. soporific: Late today [12-12-2006] I've posted new updates [just to create more work for you ]: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 HTH ______________________________ NativeTexan: I have just released the new unified 98MP10 [installs all files from 98SE2XP + 98SEMP10]: http://www.mdgx.com/wmp.htm#98MP10 So no need to install 98SE2XP nor 98SEMP10 = they are both obsolete now. HTH
  7. UPDATED · 12-12-2006 Second Update for 12-12-2006 Updates: - added SHELLME.EXE for ME = this SHELL32.DLL fixes lockups when copy large files/folders while using MS IE 5.5 SP2/6.0/6.0 SP1. This new SHELL32.DLL will be added to 98SE2ME option 3 soon. - added new MS IE 6.0 SP1 patches [Q925454 a.k.a. MS06-072] for 98/ME = both English + Italian: IE925454.EXE + IT925454.EXE. Now IE922760.EXE + IT922760.EXE are obsolete. - updated TTFPAK.EXE with new versions of Euro fonts. [thank you Petr] - added unofficial %windir%\SERVICES update for 95/98/ME = SERVIC9X.EXE. SERVICNT.EXE is also available for... - NT4: http://www.mdgx.com/wnt4.htm#NT4 - 2000: http://www.mdgx.com/w2ktoy.htm#W2K - XP: http://www.mdgx.com/xp.htm#PSP2 - 2003: http://www.mdgx.com/ws3toy.htm#WS3 - added unified 98MP10.EXE for 98SE/ME = merged 98SEMP10 + 98SE2XP. Now 98SEMP10 + 98SE2XP are obsolete. Enjoy. ______________________ Too busy today creating new/updated patches, posting files at my site and updating my web pages [see post above], but I'll read your post when I have a lil time.HTH ______________________ Oh yeah, I've read that Romania + Bulgaria have been admitted into the EU [i guess in January 2007].Thanks for the update, Petr. Posted here: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#EUR I've added the new fonts to TTFPAK.EXE: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TTF Best wishes.
  8. About 98SEMP10 + 98SE2XP:Please install the new 98MP10 [unified 98SEMP10 + 98SE2XP]: http://www.mdgx.com/wmp.htm#98MP10 98MP10 installs all files from 98SEMP10 + 98SE2XP. No need to install 98SEMP10 or 98SE2XP anymore. Therefore only 1 files set and only 1 backup set. About 98SE2ME: I never heard of such problems [Desktop icons]. I don't think 98SE2ME does anything to your icons. Also if you have 3 instances of explorer.exe, it's not because of 98SE2ME. 98SE2ME option 6 installs 98SE SP2 [Gape] explorer.exe in %windir% and backs up yours as explorer.256 also in %windir%. 98SE2ME option 3 installs WinME explorer.exe and backs up your as %windir%\explorer.98A . That's it. About your sound card drivers: Might be some of the files installed by 98SE2ME for USB/Firewire/WDM, because they change to WinME install engine which is slightly different. But in the end, your drivers should be insrtalled properly. Unfortunately I can't test this, I don't have such a sound card. HTH
  9. rpcrt4.dll for 2000/XP [all editions] is completely different = Unicode and NTx core specific.
  10. Please send the zip, and I'll post it later on today.E-mail: http://www.mdgx.com/form.htm Please rename ZIP attachment to something like ZI, because it won't accept ZIP/EXE files. Thanks. ______________________ Please post more details [eventually quote from my post] about this so I figure out what you're talking about.Thanks.
  11. Audigy 2 Platinum also works with 98SE + ME. Some of these drivers may require extracting all files using Winzip 9/10 or PowerArchiver and then running ctzap/setup separately (trial and error), but most will work with 98SE/ME. A2 Drivers [some work also with Audigy 1]: Audigy 2 EAX 4.0 Drivers [7.68 MB]: http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargem....522%20whql.exe Audigy 2 EAX 4.0 Drivers [16.2 MB]: http://files.creative.com/Drivers/Others/8...GY2_1_84_50.exe Audigy 2 EAX 4.0 Drivers [6.34 MB]: http://files.creative.com/Drivers/Others/7...DRV_1-84-40.exe Audigy 2 EAX 3.0 Drivers [6.88 MB]: http://files.creative.com/Drivers/Others/2...DRVLB030425.exe HTH
  12. Thanks for asking. It's actually time consuming, I'm trying to read all new posts [and there are lots] make sure people don't put in war3z links, pron, profanity, insults, flames etc. But on the bright side, I get to know most of the MSFN members who frequent 9x forums, and my PM box capacity just quadrupled.
  13. I actually remembered Petr uploaded advpack.dll, iexpress.exe + wextract.exe in Italian, so I rebuilt the executable using those files:http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=86564 Here it is: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IT928388.EXE Hope you like it better this way. HTH
  14. I have tried Forceware 82.16 and same thing happened [again]:computer locks up if trying to reload Windows UI from native MS-DOS by running WIN.COM .
  15. KEW, Welcome to MSFN forums. I hope you enjoy your stay. Wow. Keep up the good work. Best wishes.
  16. I guess I'm the only one who likes Programmer's File Editor [a.k.a. PFE]: http://www.mdgx.com/toy.htm#TXT
  17. This update is available since Nov 15 2006 listed as "Unofficial MS IE 6.0 SP1 Patch for Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE/NT4 SP6a/ME":http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htm#IEC Respectively [3.62 MB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IE922760.EXE HTH
  18. Max_04: Actually I have rebooted into WinXP and saved your INF as ANSI in Notepad [plain text]. I have also "trimmed" it a little, and also translated the installer dialogs. Download IT928388.EXE [66 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IT928388.EXE Complete details here: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU HTH
  19. I'd like to, but your INF file is in binary, and is 123 KB in size. Please save it again as plain text [ASCII] and attach it here when ready. Thanks. BTW: An INF file should be under 64 KB, otherwise Windows may have problems reading it. HTH
  20. 1. I wanted to rename the 1st TZ update the way you suggested, but now that M$ released the new WA TZ update, each update needs to differentiate from the other by name, so I left in place the original names. Please take a look here: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU 2. Time Zones selection from DOS, nice work. ___________________________________ I have noticed this update this AM [released by M$ December 5 2006].I have created 2 fixes for this: 1 for 9x + 1 for NTx OSes. Please take a look [the 2 unofficial Q928939 updates]: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU BTW: All 4 unofficial updates install all TZ updates from similar INF files [1 for 9x + 1 for NTx OSes]. They also delete the obsolete 2006 Australian Comonwealth Games TZ update. All details at link above: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU HTH ___________________________________ 1. Those lines delete the obsolete 2006 Australian Commonwealth Games DST update. The DST date + time was changed due to those Games only at that time, after which the "normal" DST date + time will be restored in April 2007, therefore these registry entries are not needed anymore after April 2006. 2. The Dynamic DST values are only for NTx OSes [NT4/2000/XP/2003/Vista]. They don't do anything in 9x OSes [95/98/ME]. HTH
  21. PROBLEMCHYLD: I know you want all those 5 shortcuts in the Games folder with all other Games shortcuts, but other people I know want them in a separate folder, because these are online games, and the others are not. But I moved their GameZone folder into the Games folder. HTH ________________________________ Hu$tle: I removed SHELL.DLL from options 1 + 2, and moved it into option 3 [where it should be]. HTH
  22. UPDATED · 12-6-2006 Updates: - updated 98/ME Q928388 to include new WA DST update. - added unofficial Q928939 98/ME = adds registey values for WA DST update. - added MDAC 2.8 RTM fix for ME BUG + FIX. ______________________ Added unofficial OSR2 URP1 Alpha 2: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#URP Thank you erpdude8.
  23. What do you mean by tagging/separating different areas? In READ1ST.TXT: READ1ST.TXT all separate options [8 total] are detailed with what they do, what components they need to work, pros + cons, all files they install and how to uninstall each one. Also, when you run the main batch file [98SE2ME.PIF which runs 98SE2ME.BAT] all options have a brief description, and after you select an option, you'll see a more detailed screen about each option. And the most important [iMO], READ1ST.TXT opens in Notepad before the options screen is displayed, so you can read about each option in detail, so you know what it does, and this way you can make an informed decision to install it or not. As stated in READ1ST.TXT: READ1ST.TXT under the FAQ section, Windows OS version/build does not change. Therefore all Win98SE updates can be installed same as before installing any 98SE2ME option: This also implies that you cannot install any SPs/updates/(hot)fixes/patches for WinME.Also from READ1ST.TXT: WinME files tested to work properly with Win98SE are always added to 98SE2ME. HTH _____________________________________ Thanks for giving me a handbut i guess i can't have my cake and eat it too because i like the fix that removes the arrows. Thanks again for all your help. Yes, you can.But the only working method [without known side effects] requires hex-editing SHELL32.DLL as described here at paragraph 4: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#PSBF and replacing those icons with EMPTY.ICO [766 Bytes, right-click to save]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/EMPTY.ICO using Resource Hacker. HTH _____________________________________ So far there are 2 translations available:Italian translation by Max_04: http://www.eng2ita.net/forum/?topic=442.0 French translation by WebMatze: http://www.gravure-hebdo.eu/ These 2 guys are both members of MSFN forums, so you can ask them questions for more details, if you wish. If you wish to translate 98SE2ME into Portughese, please download this ZIP and start by reading INNOFILE.TXT: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/INNOFILE.ZIP HTH
  24. Will this approach work better. This works, but not better. Please see this topic for details: http://www.mdgx.com/newtip11.htm#NOARROW This is also detailed here [sHELL32.DLL patch fixed for Desktop icons without overlay]: http://www.mdgx.com/98-5.htm#PSBF with Pros + Cons. HTH ______________________________________ PROBLEMCHYLD and eidenk, I urge both of you to take this outside MSFN. Do this [if you have to] in another forum [if allowed], or through email, or messaging [iM] etc. Please do not post such inappropriate language in any MSFN forums from now on. I'm sure both of you are already aware of MSFN forums rules of conduct: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=18408 And besides, here at MSFN, we all proud ourselves that we are the best of the best, and try to set ourselves as examples for everybody else to follow. And this doesn't mean only as computer geeks, but also as civilized human beings. Please act accordingly. P.S.: Both of you: If you need more advice/details/etc on how to handle/resolve this issue, please PM/email me and/or another mod/smod/admin/owner, instead of posting on this forum or any other. Any more posts in the forums regarding this issue will be deleted. Please act in a curtious manner without using any inappropriate language. Thanks.
