Ghost82 replied to DarkShadows's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Nice!!! I found some more info while searching with Google , check these links: http://labmice.techtarget.com/articles/batchcmds.htm -
I've looked at this for some time but I can't seem to figure out how to install a network printer (the only info I have for the printers is "\\servername\printer") anyone can help me with this?
-
But is it the same version? if so then yes it's useless, but if this one is newer then it should stay...
-
Problem with devices like this is that you also have external versions of them... It would be a HELL of a job to seperate the internal (OnBoard) models from the external ones
-
The aren't (yet) However I believe he is working on that (collecting drivers)
-
try searching for illegal software or cracks etc... you run in to spyware and virii in no time...
-
Look for the UWXP Root folder in the same place where the slipstreamer batch is...

What is it you want to do? you can install the printer on lpt1: (wich is exactly what you're supposed to do...) But you want it different?

Most current Writers support DVD+/-R(W) allready. There are hardly any DVD-RAM Drives (or discs) available (atleast here in holland) I recently bought the Pioneer DVR-109 I haven't really used yet though. It's not a very silent drive but it's not very loud either.

Installing specific files over a network....
Ghost82 replied to Twiglet's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
What things would you like to select for silent install? If you mean software (like MS Office or anything else) you could use WPI or such thing. If you mean stuff that's in Windows you could make that part attended. Keeping drivers up-to-date can be done by using BTS Driverpacks. Saves alot of space and time. -
Unnattended CD - Copyright Issue
Ghost82 replied to martinmacca's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
It would be legal if they have a license. You could even add the driverpacks and you could integrate current Servicepacks and hotfixes so that the end user would need less time to get the PC up and running. Offcourse the CD will be outdated as soon as a new driver or patch is released but that's something you'll have to live with. (newer customers will have newer CD's if you keep them up to date for your self) I'd make the CD so that the only thing they need to do is provide the user information (Name / Serial) and possibly the computername. It would save you the trouble of creating different CD's for every customer. -
Just a question for BTS: with the new x64 edition of XP launched, will you create new 64-bit driverpacks? So that XP-64 can be supported right from the start? I know the amount of drivers is still low but that could give you an easy start.
-
You're right that would be the best way. Can I sent the file(s) to you by mail?
-
whoa dude, you're a couple of steps ahead of me, I was also creating a Modem pack. I'll try uploading the pack I created later. Just have to find some space... I've also created some other packs and will try to upload them too! BTW: BTS can I use you're changelog files (the htm files) as a template to create my own? I'll leave everything the way it's now, but just change the name and add my name to it. I'll leave all the links to you're site and leave you're name in it too. Keep up the good work! o, and gilesw: if you use the Driver Compressor Tool before creating the final pack you'll be able to make it much smaller!
-
Hey BTS I keep getting an error trying to download the new LAN and MassStorage pack:
-
Could you also include AMD Chipset drivers? (here's a link for the AMD-8000 Chipset: AMD8000 chipset. Don't really know where on the AMD website they are located but this link is pointing toward a file on the AMD site.
-
Lets see: 75Gb Boot 160Gb Data + a few smaller drives in other machines and storage media makes a total of about 300Gb
-
Why would you want to do that? You can just add the complete pack to your CD and the driver will install automaticly!

Runoncex.inf Runs Only If In Windows\inf
Ghost82 replied to mraeryceos's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
the RunOnceEx file should be a .cmd file! I think cmdlines.txt only allows executable files (*.cmd,*.exe etc...) -

Create Sfx Of Oem For Extraction Later?
Ghost82 replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I do this a little different: I use BTS Driverpacks and use "DetachedProgram" to extract dp.exe (The DriverPacks) then when the RunOnceEx is executed I use that to extract the $oem$/$Docs/$Progs/$$.exe files (the names are different but you get the idea) after extraction the RunOnceEx.cmd is able to continue, works perfectly for me. Hope it helps! -
Using Ghost is faster than a complete Ua re-install, but if you (want to) change something you will have to create a new image (or new CD). The ultimate solution would IMHO be something like this: - Create the Ua Setup with all applications on a different drive/partition - Run the normal setup UNTIL the first reboot (just after TEXTMODE is completed) - Create a (Ghost) image - Load the image (it will start setup from the begining of the GUI part) - Let setup complete If there is a new version of some software just update the files on the other drive but leave the names of the files exactly like they are. Then load the image again and the setup starts over. saves a whole bunch of time but can take a lot of space, biggest advantage is that you can use a networkdrive for the software you want installed.
