  1. Hi, i want to connect my USB printer to my router so all the laptops in the house can print to it without having to physically connect the usb cable to each laptop to print. I have a HP 2410 all in one printer which has no built in network features HP 2410 I also have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router which doesnt have a built in print server Link To Router What i was thinking was to use a USB to Ethernet adaptor USB To Ethernet Adaptor which will connect my printer to the router, on each laptop add a new printer using the TCP/IP address and type the IP address of the port the printers connected to on the router and hopefully it will find it and install the drivers from the CD. Sounds good in theory but not sure if it will work as there will be no print server? Alternatively if that dont work then buying a USB print server such as this USB Print Server Again adding a new printer using the IP address and installing the drivers. Any ideas if this will work - any issues you can see? What would happen if i printed 3 jobs using the usb to ethernet adaptor which has no print server - would they still join the printer job list or would that only happen if i use the usb print server?
  2. I want to make an offline form in word and just print the data thats been input only. So for example: 1st Name ....... Surname ...... Sex ........ Now i just want the data that people fill in printed, so my printed data would look like: David Jones Male Not like this: 1st Name David Surname Jones Sex Male I've selected "print data only from a form" but whenever i print all i get is a blank page. Can someone try it for themselves to see if it works on yours or tell me what i'm doing wrong thanks
  3. Thanks - i found a slightly different way to create the image and that worked perfect for me http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/convert.html
  4. Right i've changed the file type to .img and it still gives me errors - most of them being invalid system disk
  5. Hi, im trying to add Partition Magic 8 to my Boot DVD but can not get it to work no matter what i try. So far my DVD has: XP Pro ERD 2005 98 + ME Boot Disks PC Check 6 And now im trying to add PM8 with no luck what so ever I've followed this guide exactly http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/imgfiles.htm And then on my boot menu tried ALL of the following in trying to get it to boot PM8_Key: getkey 20 goto menu if $lastKey == key[1]; then memdisk /files/pm8.ima if $lastKey == key[2]; then chain /files/pm8.ima if $lastKey == key[3]; then bcdw boot /files/pm8.ima if $lastKey == key[4]; then bcdw /files/pm8.ima if $lastKey == key[5]; then diskemu /files/pm.ima if $lastKey == key[6]; then isolinux memdisk initrd=/files/pm8.ima goto menu The only thing i can think of is that the image file ends .ima instead of .img - would that make a difference and if so how would i convert it to .img ? Any Ideas
  6. Hi, soon im planning to run my own business building PCs & from my experience of those ive built for people already is that alot of people dont know how to format & install XP when there PC gets full of junk & starts to play up. Which is where an unattended windows cd comes in, if i supplied them with the normal windows CD but also an unattended install cd that used the legit key & was customised for that customer would that be ok or breaking copyright laws? They would have the genuine cd so would the unattended cd be treated as a backup or is it a complete NO NO ?
  7. To skip the part where it asks you to choose & format a partition add this: In your winnt.sif file under [unattended] add Repartition=Yes so it looks like [unattended] Repartition=Yes
  8. Hi, ive just had a quick go at making an unattended xp cd, however my answer file doesnt seem to be getting read. Ive gone and checked that ive put this in my Winnt.sif file & copied Winnt.sif & winnt.bat into the I386 folder. Im using Virtual PC to check the image ive created but it loads stops at the point where it asks the user to 1. Setup Windows, 2. Create a Partition... if i manually select to setup it then asks to format NTFS, Quick Format etc.. Surely it should be completly unattended as selected when i created my answer file. So far ive Copied XP from CD to my Hard Drive Slipstreamed SP2 Created my answer file & renamed it to Winnt.sif (No .txt at end) & copied that & winnt.bat to the I386 folder. Then ive created my image Tested my image with Virtual PC The reason im doin this is that i build PCs for people and thought that alot of the people have no idea how to install windows so i would create a personal unattended cd for each person who i built a PC for, so that when their PC needs to be formatted they could do it themselves just by loading the CD ... would this be ok or breaking copyright laws with Microsoft?
