  1. One tip to save you another bad CD: Use a virtual machine (VMWare or Virtual PC) that saves alot of CD's
  2. Do you copy the quick lauch shortcuts before creating the CD? i.e.: The shortcuts are pre-defined on the CD? Then you can modify them to show the right description (just look in the properties)
  3. I just got an idea: Would it be possible to make the script search for inf's in multiple folders? i.e: running the script from <root> scanning subfolders: <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model1> <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model2> <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model3> etc etc... the output folders would still be: <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model1>\<folder with compressed files> <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model2>\<folder with compressed files> <root>\iiyama Drivers\CRT Monitor\<model3>\<folder with compressed files> This would really help me as I have a whole bunch of drivers that I pulled from serveral CD's and I want to compress them for integration...
  4. @BTS: here's a list of printer manufacturers and links to the downloadpages to get you started: HP Epson Canon Lexmark Brother Olympus Sony Xerox IBM Kyocera Konica/Minolta Oki Samsung Kodak Sharp Olivetti NEC
  5. hmm... That's not quite handy: you'd have to specify which inf file, so it won't be system independant anymore that's true, but u can possibly use this in a domain to write a script that checks the department of the user (or any other info in the domainprofile of the user) and that way identify wich printers the user(s) need. Anyway: a Printerpack would really be a good idea as alot of modern printers are USB-Printers so windows auto-detects them and always tries to install the drivers! (there are even printers on a parallel cable that get detected by windows)
  6. If you want to automate the process of adding printers try this: rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /? It will give you a list of switches that may be helpfull (found this on google search for "unattended printer installation") Hope it helps! edit: just found another great rundll32 link: http://www.dx21.com/SCRIPTING/RUNDLL32/REF...E.ASP?ISF=0&P=A
  7. erhm... both keys are the same?
  8. Try testing it in VMWare or Virtual PC to get your answer...
  9. How about this one: Driver Compressor Tool
  10. Could you PLEASE be more specific about the problem!!!!???? WHERE in the process does your machine reboot? (What is it installing at that point!?)
  11. I Don't really see the point here, from my (professional) experiense on HP/Compaq machines I have NEVER even seen anything like that (then again, I hardly handle a customer PC (mostly bussiness machines). Just use something like Partition Magic to delete the partition and add the space to you're boot partition. That should work. About using the I386-Folder: I'm not sure but my guess is that it's just a folder with modified files in it (like your basic bliss.jp_ and other things) So yes I'd say it's legal.
  12. @Saraband: Are you serious about this?? Do some search work and find out!!!
  13. I've created a CMD file that could help with the DriverPack part of this guide. You'll have to set the vars in the file before running it. Also this file runs the the Update.cmd from the DP so when that filename changes you'll also have to change the CMD Offcourse you can make this a part of a bigger CMD file that helps you with creating a UaCD (thats what I did in the first place) Hope it helps.
  14. is there also a "set cdrom=" command somewhere? btw: you can just do "regedit /s %path%\sys.reg" w/o the %systemroot%
  15. Hi, Most people in this forum know how irritating it can be having to do the same things over and over again when creating there ultimate Ua CD. I have spend a lot of time waiting for windows to delete all files from the "XPCD" folder only to be waiting for windows again to complete copying all files from the "XPSource" folder to "XPCD" and then i'd have to manually add my programs and drivers and add files to the system32 folder and... ow well you get the idea! So I decided it was time to automate that process and wrote a CMD file to do it. before you use it you must download/install the following: Download the BTS driverpack from http://www.btsunattended.net/Projects/DriverPacks/ Download and install RunOnceEx.cmd Creator from http://www.decomputeur.nl/modules.php?name...download&cid=11 and nLite from: http://nuhi.msfn.org/download.html you also need VMWare or Virtual PC (that's what I use) You will have to edit the paths to your needs. You're free to change the file anyway you like but please let us know if you have anything usefull to add. NOTE: My skills aren't that good with this so please be patient. NOTE2: This is stricktly a beta file: DON'T blame me if something get's FUBAR. just start over and try again.... I've attached a file that contains 2 files: the CMD and ask.com witch is simular to the old choice.com from windows 98. I'm working on a how-to for this file but that might take a LONG time since my main priority is to get this file working without errors. I've added 2 more files to the zip (needed to edit the winnt.sif)
  16. Whoa, dude this is great !!! just what I needed as I had big trouble getting the DP to work, also I'm creating a cmd-file that automates the process of copying files and starting tools to get the perfect Ua CD (currently for private use, maybe I'll put it on the forum when I'm sattified with the results I get... current features: - A menu to choose the Ua CD I want to create (W2KPro-SP4/W2KSrv-SP4/W2K3-SP1 or WXPPro-SP2) - Delete old files from x:\%oscd% - copy installation files from %ossource% to %oscd% - creating $OEM$ (subfolders) - AND NOW Integrating the DriverPacks - And alot of other things thnx again !!
  17. This new feature doesn't seem to work with multiple inf files (it states that the directory allready exists) I tested with the Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS WDM drivers...
  18. Hmm... looks like you can only get that patch by contacting Microsoft....
  19. I know, but I just wanted to get it clear for the others.
  20. 21. Be warned that if you remove OOBE you can't activate Windows anymore, so only remove if you have a Corp. Edition!
  22. New update out: Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB890854)
  23. Didn't see this link in here yet: http://www.winguides.com/software/display.php/1/ It's a registry "guide" that contains a huge list of Registry Tweaks, with this tool you wan't have to search the forums/net and a lot of problems can be solved quickly
  24. Just to get this clear on the directory's you can use when creating a new unattended install here's a complete list of all the dir's (well I think it's complete) $OEM$ $OEM$\$1 $OEM$\$1\Drivers $OEM$\$1\Install $OEM$\$1\SysPrep $OEM$\$$ $OEM$\$$\Fonts $OEM$\$$\Help $OEM$\$$\Resources $OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes $OEM$\$$\System32 $OEM$\$$\Web $OEM$\$$\Web\Wallpapers $OEM$\$Docs $OEM$\$Docs\All Users $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Desktop $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Favorites $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Application Data $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch $OEM$\$Progs $OEM$\Textmode offcourse you need to create them as subdirs off X:\XPCD\ Maybe this can be added to the startpost?
