DrStange, here is a fixed version, 1.5.3: http://www.startisback.com/StartIsBackPlus_setupRC.exe That bug you have happens if: 1) You have 'broken' shortcuts on desktop 2) They're not to to programs 3) Yet they're still in recently launched programs list somehow

That's critical issue if it really happens. Can you check if Start menu is responsive / filled with icons before you close those error windows? You can also post an Autoruns report. Search 'View all problem reports' in start menu, then find a crash for Windows explorer. If there are files attached, post them here. If not, enable local crash dumps by adding to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps value DumpFolder valued '%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps', then reboot and see for newest 'explorer.exe...dmp' file, attach it here.

OblyTile since 0.8.8 does not create shortcuts in All Programs, so you should use newer version. You can move those shortcuts to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts\OblyTile folder yourself.

Version +1.5.1 That Windows icon cache issue is a tricky undocumented beast since it caused implicit unexpected I/O on UI thread; that should be resolved.Icons to programs located on powered off / network / slow drives should no longer delay start menu opening. If you find icons flashing more than they should, please tell me so.

It won't be fixed anytime soon. Nvidia Surround is a bad hack and i'm unable to make friends with it, nor do I have 3 monitor setup.

You're right, this is a bug. I'm not sure why it happens but i'll try to fix it ASAP. As a workaround use other UAC setting.

It's not 'my way or highway' but having two start buttons in same corner is stupid. Fitt's law exists for purpose. However, I'm thinking about temporary allowing bottom-left screen corner when Shift / Ctrl is held down.

Yes, it reads 32-bit PARGB BITMAPs, not msstyles parts.

Libraries are hairy. In case you run into some problems with them, right-click Libraries and choose 'Restore default libraries'. Or just turn off their display.

Do you have Libraries displayed in This PC? If you do, you may need to set new libary location.

Sorry, but I can't reproduce it. Please state any specifics your setup has, like: - are you logging in to the running or new session - which RDP version you're using to connect - what did you try to remedy a problem (did you try new account? default windows theme / default startisback settings?) - does running startisbackcfg - pressing OK helps? - are there any event logs / crashes? I've tried to replicate your setup on multiple conditions and did not find such behavior. Maybe write to the support email to diagnose this problem over remote session.

I also noticied that with RC1, but not with RC2. Transparent layered blur window seems to not update correctly. Also blur seems weaker with translucency than it should be, but I'm not sure. If Ivo wants to know how to dissable accent, he should ask. I'll contact Winaero developer to update his Opaque Taskbar for those interested in blur on taskbar without start menu if bugmuscle does not revise his opinion.

That's cool; now how do I choose lol. I'll think about it. Just set Process Name filter to explorer.exe.

The only I/O that can slow down UI thread in your case is icon cache index. But it should be fast to read from SSD, so I'm not sure what happens; would be interesting to see what explorer.exe I/O is at the moment.

Responsiveness is improved in 1.5, although first time opening may be noticeable on some systems. What amount of RAM do you have? It's just unusal. I see you've tailored color to the gray like default SearchBox does. That makes bottom part of menu 'light' but some other elements seem to remain heavy. I'm just nitpicking ofc.
