I have a 17" Viewsonic that works like a champ...

The Americans that died in the Sept 11th attacks were not responsible for terrorism either...and neither are the people posting here...but if you had the chance to try and stop it, wouldn't you? I've also seen certain USB devices cause it randomly. Might try disconnecting those and see if they are afecting the shutdown process in any way.
