the proper link is: http://www.tech-hints.com/xp.html but there are only outdated infos/methods there... It's really a "predecessor" rather than a "alternative". If I could get time I'll write a guide with the alternative method to put windows xp home, xp professional, xp prof. corp. Edt. and Windows XP 2005 MCE on one CD(you're reading right, just CD, not DVD!) with unattended installation. Overview of the advantages: 1) Compact - 4 Windows on one CD (not DVD!) incl. huge extra device drivers & appl. 2) Flexible - over 10 unattended install options for the same AND diff. windows, selectable at boot time in multi-boot menu(CD-Shell) 3) Maintanance friendly - all windows use the same $OEM$ folder for the drivers and installation scripts, utilities... so easy to update them(one folder for all OSs) 4) Universal - the extra device drivers are cover 80%-98% of all existing Windows-PC Hardware(old and new) in chipsets/(scsi,ide,s-ata and rail)disk controllers/video controllers/sound cards/(WLAN and cable)NICs/(PCI,AMR,USB, analogue and DSL)modems 5) Quick to install - the installation of xp prof. on an old PC "hp business desktop 530 SFF" took ca. 20 min.(w/o extra appl.) 6) Instant to use - the most important extensions/tolls/applications can be selected at first boot tiome in boot menu and then unattended installed with windows.

But... the smartboot manager has also limitations, i.g.: 1) the only bootable cd drive is the one with atapi interface, so 2) it cannot boot from usb external cd drive, 3) it cannot boot from scsi internal & external cd drive, 4) it cannot boot from (most of) pcmcia external cd drive(depend on the mainboard bios of the notebook), 5) it cannot boot from firewire external cd drive, 6) it cannot boot from paralell-port(print-port) external cd drive... and so on....
-
We use this appl since many, many, and many years. I know it very well. But brucewong had another problem... so just post a answer of a hot topic, don't post a blind shot on a cold topic(silence since monthes!)
-
Yes it was a question and as well as a problem for him/her. 1. nlight is wrong, nLite is the correct name of appl. 2. nLite creates a "lite"-version of WinXP/Win2k/Win2k3-SetupCD in form of a .iso or a set of files/folders. 3. nLite dose not create multiboot-cd/dvd, dosn't merge anything with other boot-cd, creates only bootable (unattended) setup-cd for WinXP/Win2k/Win2k3. 4. If you want to create multiboot-cd/dvd(integrate 2 or more boot cds on one cd/dvd), you must create the every single boot cd, then follow the official forum guide written by flyakite.
-
I've used the the winternals tool in a BartPE envirement without any problem(plugin available in inet). So I don't think someone will spend extra time to rebuild and try your configuration... sorry......
-
You have to strip the useless things(using nLite) before you create the AIO-CD.
-
It's perfect time to get nLite, or you must burn it on DVD - no way else!
-
in that thread you have not mentioned that you worked with wxp.bat, instead you said you've followed the guide - whitch guide led you to the wxp.bat? The AIO-DVD guide available pointed to run "winnt32.exe /noreboot" for boot files....
-
diskemu can only load a floppy image which made by the acronis "mediabuilder.exe"(2,88MB floppy image for safe mode)
-
It's NOT a similar method of gosh, it is just a SHORT-CUT. Do you understand it now?
-
The wxp.bat of easyboot is almost twice in size as the w2k.bat, it contains all the supported languages and codepages already! So you all can use that batch safely. But: this batch copy too many files as needed, so use it with caution if you have too many OSs but not too much free space on your target CD/DVD.

@MCT Your first answer for the question "how to combining my 2 unattended OS ISO files on one dvd" are the ridiculous suggestion" -b -j1 -m -o". One should point out that there is no way just "load"(i.e. via cdshell etc.) one of the iso files to get them work, and instead, the install files of diff. os must be placed in dff. setup folders.... so it is best tiom to read the official guides.... I've said your answer was just a joke, it was my politeness. If you still don't understand, I'll change it : your answer was stupid.(but I do not really hope so)

Important 1:I've point out it is possible to habe only one $OEM$. Was willst du mehr? Important 2:Another way to use the build method of traditional multiboot AIO-DVD, but only one ($OEM$)drivers folder on the CD/DVD is the M2 method of Pyron, http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=12566. You need a advanced level of the knowledge of OS-setup if you want to realize such things.
-
Windows XP support this PCI card with build-in driver from the first release.
-
That's wrong. This was defined in txtsetup.sif.I don't know anything about "preactivation", I've never seen such CDs, only the usual OEM-ones(need to activation afterwards) or the Corp.Edition(no activation required). So you can make a file and bit compare between the "preactivated" ones and the usual OEM-ones, and then give us the information.... To create the CD as I mentioned, you need a advanced level of the knowledge of OS-setup.

Test Application for Multi-Boot & Video Card
htc replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
I donot think this thread will help us much... just waste of time! -
So your suspicion is justified and reflect also the facts. Because you have posted the same thing in another post please follow my tips in that thread to avoid "double postings". But here I can still summarize the important things in short: 1. becarefull to use bcdw, never use the "direct load setupldr.bin" feature, only load the boot sectors. 2. hex edit the boot sectors, setupldr.bin 3. text edit the txtsetup.sif 4. first, create a AIO DVD without winnt.sif(not unattended) to see if the preactivation works, than add the contents prograssively.
-
In my AIO-compilation there is only one $OEM$ folder for all WinXPs... and this folder will be copied to hdd %systemdriver% completely at the installation time scale directly after the install-files copy, i.e before first reboot and T-39. So I donot understand what you really meened with: " but my greatest problem is the $OEM$ folder. If the OEMFILESPATH would work on CD/DVD....this would be a solution."
-
It's a pleasure.
-
try to search with keyword "usb" "boot" and member htc (that's me). I've posted a lot of correct info about it.
-
This point I've already included in my one of the 3 "important..." , though I've used bold fonts, you have omitted it fully... your Avatar could be more convincing if there is a boy with glasses...
-
Yes, it must be a bug, not a feature.
-
please post it in cdshell forum, not here.
-
@sculper You need to follow the official guide of this forum: flyakite's guide at: http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/ Be sure read the tips of prathapml first: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=25128

...but not a aswer for his question!Everone who has the basic knowledge of multiboot AIO cd knows that the member mediapla wanted to create a multiboot cd other than the usual one(guided by the official docs of this forum)
