Long Pause at T-39 before GUI loads
htc replied to tridgely's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
This has been discussed also nLite forum, so it could be also a bug of nLite. But definitively not a problem of BTS driver pack. -
By the way, the files in $OEM$ folder should not have a "compressed file name" such as something.dl_ , must be something.dll ...
-
You have to put the reqired files into $OEM$ folder (and the proper sub folders) onto your setup cd if the theme files not on windows cd. Furthermore, some registry value must be seted...
-
Good luck!
-
Yes you could have them if you understand howto(I've made such one last year): 1) put winnt.sif, winnt.sif, winnt.s2f for 3 diff. setup configurarion. 2) binear(hex) modify the setupldr.bin(and possiblly something else) to change the reference of winnt.sif/.sif/.s2f, save them in setupldr.b2n and setupldr.b2n 3) again, modifiy the boot sectors to change the reference(...). 4) create multiboot cd to load diff. boot sectors.

Sysprep - Tried Everything - HELP!
htc replied to esanford's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I wonder why the experts in this forum talked about this proble just today, not years ago... Being a computer technician since over 10 years I've noticed and solved this probem almost over two years. Step-by-Step instructions: 1) Clean install windows xp(sp2) onto a "proper" sample compuer. The "proper" computer is very important! My expierence: MB with Intel440BX, deactivate all extensions(sound, modem,lan,1394... etc), use a (for windows xp) unknow vga cards. 2) Copy the following files to "%SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers": Atapi.sys, Intelide.sys, Pciide.sys, Pciidex.sys 3) Registry prepare: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 If someone know it either, post here... -
Please follow the official guide for textmode driver integration. I've made a mass storage textmode driver pack including following controllers: hpt374 = "RocketRAID 154x/1640 Controller for WinXP/2003" iastor = "Intel® 82801/6300 SATA AHCI Controller" iteraid = "ITE IT8212 ATA RAID Controller (Windows 2000/XP)" busdrv = "NVIDIA NForce Storage Controller" raidclass = "NVIDIA RAID CLASS DRIVER" fasttrak = "Promise MBFastTrak133 Lite Controller" fasttx2k = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Controller" ulsata = "WinXP Promise SATA378 Controller" pnp680r = "Silicon Image Ultra-133 Medley ATA Raid Controller" si3112r = "Silicon Image SiI 3x12 SATARaid Controller for WinXP/Server2003" si3112 = "Silicon Image SiI 3x12 SATALink Controller for WinXP/Server2003" si3114r5 = "Silicon Image SiI 3114 SoftRAID 5 Controller for WinXP/Server2003" sisraid = "SiS180 Raid/IDE Controller" sisraid1 = "SiS181 Raid Controller" sisraid2 = "SiS182 Raid/IDE Controller" viamraid = "VIA RAID Controller(Windows XP)" viapdsk = "VIA ATA/ATAPI Host Controller(Windows XP)" And here is the add-on entries in txtsetup.sif: TXTSETUP.SIF Pick out what you need, delete the rest you dont want.

By the way, a "dobbled existing" of the files(*ide.* and *id2.*) is not helpful, in fat harmful. "Either... or.." is correct.
-
Suggestion: 1) delete the file infnswr.txt in your driver folder completely - it is useless there. 2) the "SP" folder is only for the install routine to decide which .inf/.cat paar will be installed(e.g. ich5ide.* or ichid2.*). They do parctically the same thing so I've deleted that folder. This is also my suggestion.
-
The Facts: 1) all what I said about the technical facts are true and correct. 2) I've never made weird messages(someting worked not, but works already, will bot good work... etc) like someone made, I post only technical impeccable, flawless and more advanced suggestions and instructions. 3) I'm sure my posts do help(be informative) many people, incl. you and the most "true embassadors" of this forum.

The portcls.sys BSOD was caused by wrong .inf file or wrong hardware detection of PnP driver during setup. There are nothing to do with the ms hd-audio driver(this driver will not cause the BSOD).
-
Actrually I've mind so too. As a belgian you've learned so many launguages(see your windows version), not erveryone has such luck.
-
please try to do it with ubcd 3.2, and try to understand "why", not only "hwo". Then you can do it with ubcd 3.3.
-
or use the "UltraISO" to create a "optimized" cd/dvd image file. But this program produced mostly larger image file than the MS cdimage.exe did - there is no option to enable "ignore diamond time stamps" in UltraISO.
-
I think you were "upside-down" when you wrote the above post. In fact the opposite of your statement are true: To accelerate the access time, put the smallst file at first, then second smallst, ... etc, at last the largest file. I've used WinOnCD 2.xx/3.0/4.0 to define the position of every single file on cd. Since many years I havn't used this feature any more.
-
it will not work for the .iso file. Extract all file of the .iso (root to root!) and config a new boot entry in UBCD, use the boot sector of the .iso(a file with 2048 bytes in size) for boot image(no emulation).
-
The folder names on the screenshot dont guarantee they have contents... they could be most empty... The .iso files on p2p-net are only 700mb - 1.2gb, so it is impossible that they are true "AIO"-DVDs.
-
But is it the same version? if so then yes it's useless, but if this one is newer then it should stay... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Two very important things: 1) your driver dose not have a WHQL-signature, windows xp only allow the newer, but WHQL-driver to replace/overwrite its own drivers(mostly already with WHQL). 2) your driver dated dec. 2000, windows xp sp2 dated aug. 2004 - witch is newer???? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
-
This proofed my statement before, at the first time you've got the wrong .inf file. This (wrong) .inf file copy the (right) .inf file and the driver files into the proper folder.
-
I would say: this is typical for a Belgian No more kidding, here is my suggestion: 1) copy the file drvindex.inf from your "windows xp with sp2" cd \i386 to folder "%systemroot%\inf" 2) copy the files drive.cab, sp2.cab from your "windows xp with sp2" cd \i386 to folder "%systemroot%\Driver Cache\i386" Thus you'll get all the hardware support of windows xp back!
-
After reading the last two posts I have a feeling that you didnot read/understand my post correctly. But I dont have the time to explain it much detailed. Just a last try: 1) fresh installed windows != (not equl to) restore a recovery image - If you dont know why, then you are not qualified to understand and follow my 2nd suggestion. 2) please take attention to my second suggestion. 3) use only the ati-original crystal drive, not the omega rebuild, witch dose not have the WHQL signiture and at lease 2-3 monthes old than the original ati driver. 4) further more, the omega driver may have many, many and many many bugs, the rebuilder have not tested the driver on all the graphic cards. A mistake is: Radeon 9550 CANNOT be classified to Radeon 9500 seriens, it must be classified to Radeon 9600 seriens.
-
I think you've got the wrong .inf file!
